frigit - i'm saying Res-Dogs.

I appreciate them - but i'm not as in love with the old universal horrors as much as most people.

I would agree with you there. However- The Wild Bunch pushed the limits of film violence and paved a path of bloody grindstone for thousands of great films to come.

I pick Peckinpah.

i was going to mention that myself ...
it's often credited as being the 1st splatter film.

i guess the contribution the 6th sense made was more important as far as i was aware what it was doing and it meant a lot to me (having seen with my own eyes how poorly horror did since the 70's - with of course - some exceptions)

Disease 05-13-2008 03:19 PM

The wild bunch.

Zero 05-13-2008 03:25 PM

well - my recollection is that both Bonnie and Clyde and The Dirty Dozen had blazed quite a trail of violence the year before Wild Bunch was released- the use of blood squibs on the principles in Bonnie and Clyde was seen as particularly shocking.

but, i still vote the wild bunch

(oh and since i'm in a historical mood - anyone ever notice that peckinpah has a cameo in the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers - he's the 'gas guy' in the basement)

cactus 05-13-2008 06:17 PM

The Wild Bunch

ChronoGrl 05-13-2008 06:36 PM

I've never seen The Wild Bunch, so I guess my vote goes for Sixth Sense.

Same here...

_____V_____ 05-13-2008 08:16 PM

8-6, The Wild Bunch stops The Sixth Sense dead on its tracks.

Nosferatu.

Because it is the father of Dracula films, and when I was young it was one of the films that I always most wanted to see. This was before VHS was available.
