FUCK!

Twice in a row so far today... wonder if this one will get through?

Elvis_Christ 01-11-2012 01:57 PM

Nope three times in a row

Any progress or even a whisper from the admins?

None whatsoever.

Doc Faustus 01-12-2012 09:19 PM

Tell us about the admins, Uncle Avi! Is it true that they're a hundred feet tall and they can see through milk?

roshiq 01-14-2012 05:00 AM

Things getting too much annoying. Have they get bored to f**k themselves so much that now they've decided to screwing this board??@#!*^&%^&%:mad:

You're making yourselves worse than the spammers, admins!

The Villain 01-14-2012 08:14 AM

Just got it in the HDC Looks Back thread. I dont mind when a small post i make does it but a long one like that pisses me off. It just feels like a waste of time because i dont even know if it's gonna show up or not.

Mine always show up eventually so I'm sure you'll be right. Happened to me today in the same thread. Hopefully they will sort this shit out real soon because it sucks

Yes it sure kills off the conversation we have going on these days.

neverending 01-15-2012 08:22 PM

Sorry guys- we're doing our best. I work a regular job and can't log on from work so sometimes posts may have to wait till I get home and get time to get over here and then find whatever posts are waiting to be approved. Sometimes a few may slip by.

What you don't know is that spambots are still registering in record numbers and posting spam- only now it has to be "moderated" so you guys don't ever see it. I just had to remove 37 threads from the general forum alone, and then ban 37 different spambots... and NOW I can get to approving posts by members in good standing.

ManchestrMorgue 01-16-2012 02:08 AM

Seems like quite a few of the spam threads are slipping by the software. There have been a couple of Louis Vuitton threads recently.

I wonder why the software catches seemingly normal posts and lets threads like this through?

I know the mods hands are tied, and appreciate the fact that they don't just abandon ship. The admins lack of attention in this matter must be incredibly frustrating. I had contact with El Gato for awhile, but he's disappeared again. I wish there was something else I could do.

Where are Rayne and The Flayed One to help in this time of need?

P.S. I still think if forum members e-mailed El Gato en masse, it would prompt him to act.

_____V_____ 01-16-2012 04:13 AM

Just came back home from work to sit down and ban about 80-odd spam accounts through email.

This is getting frustrating. And the spamming registrations are increasing by the day.

ChronoGrl 01-16-2012 12:44 PM

I just want to say - V and NE, we're not complaining about you at all. I think that you both do a great job.

It's good to get some perspective in terms of how much SPAM we truly do get a day. Too bad that it holds up some of our posts, but it sounds like we'd get a lot more garbage if it wasn't around.

What I think the true problem is:
  • I think that there needs to be someone promoted to Admin who is around here more often (I nominate V, but I'm not sure if it's a responsibility he wants to take on).
  • I also think that we could use more Mods who are around... Flayed, Rayne, and Austin haven't been frequenting this place for a very, very long time... Maybe we need three new Mods? In that vein, I think that Wicker and I are a good start, though it sounds like there are a few others who wouldn't mind helping out.

Maybe that's the conversation that should be happening with El Gato and the other Admins (when they actually reply): Promoting someone else to Admin who can then designate additional Mods. I think that this is really the best course of action here.

fortunato 01-16-2012 08:46 PM

^Yeah, I'd be more than happy to help with stuff like that.

I've also expressed interest in being a moderator.

TheWickerFan 01-17-2012 03:02 AM

I didn't know you could just promote someone to admin status. Is this possible and should I suggest this to another admin?

V would be my nomination as well. On the surface it looks like a significantly less demanding job, and he works too hard as it is.

P.S. Horror was here!

ChronoGrl 01-17-2012 04:32 AM

It can't hurt to ask El Gato to make V an Admin... I'd honestly be surprised if this was something he couldn't do; I assume Admins can update member permissions.

No thanks.

We need a couple more Mods, and if the admin sets the New Member Registration Status to "Subject to Moderator Approval," that should take care of most, if not all, problems.

LOL - You sure? ;)

Well, it couldn't hurt to have an Admin who is actually active on the forum, even if it isn't you.

Anyhoo - Whomever is communicating to El Gato, can you send over V's recommendation above?

neverending 01-17-2012 08:54 AM

V's asked for such- many times.

Read through this thread to see why this hasn't been sorted.

It's really too bad about those spambots.

My communication with ElGato in recent times.

20 hours ago:

Quote:

Hey Andrey my friend,

I have one final request - can you please disable the "Moderated Posts" system, whereby posts go under the scanner of a Mod when they are posted (with/without a link)?

What is happening is that - innocent posts by regular members are getting diverted unnecessarily into the Moderation queue and that is frustrating the regular members a lot.

Plus it is affecting real-time interaction between members when their posts go into the moderation queue and nobody can see them until a Moderator approves it.

Now that spammers have stopped coming in, we can safely have that feature removed.

Neverending, Zwoti and me can deal with the occasional spammer or two.

Please see if you can get that feature removed.

Thanks in advance,

Can you please specify when you noticed "Moderated Posts" system influence?

Hey Andrey,

Like for example, I approved this post from the Moderation queue yesterday -

http://www.horror.com/forum/showpost...&postcount=861

It is a simple vote posted by a regular member in one of the tournaments I am running. There is nothing to make it marked under
spamming or anything else, but still it went into the Moderation queue for approval.

Another post here - http://www.horror.com/forum/showpost...80&postcount=3

Don't know why this post went into the Moderation queue as well. The member who posted it got confused and posted the same
message 4 more times because his post was not showing to him.

I removed those duplicate posts into the Spam section - http://www.horror.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60370

Such things are making regular members confused, irritated and angry, because it is stopping them from live interaction with other
members and threads directly.

There seems to be no reason why such regular and harmless posts are getting diverted into the Moderation queue. Please see if
something can be done to stop this.

Thanks in advance,

If only I had some admin powers, mate. Even limited access as admin.

Oh well...

About a month ago, I think.

Around the time you enabled the "Moderate New Members" option.
Maybe something else got enabled which is sending these normal posts of regular members under the Moderation scanner.

Maybe it's a keyword, or a set of keywords? Like some forums have some words blocked from usage?
But why would that make posts with a name like "Isabelle Adjani" go into the Moderation queue?

Check this thread - http://www.horror.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59625

It was the first time this was reported by forum members. Date is 12/12/2011.

You all won't be able to see the 3 posts above, because I have held them back so that ElGato can see them and figure out what's wrong with them.

They are -

1) A test post by distemper85 in "Guillotine Guys" thread in Indie horror.

2) A post by Elvis Christ (in reply to Mothman's post) in "What Song Are You Listening To Right Now?" thread in Music.

3) A post by ManchestrMorgue (in reply to Tangleduponblue's post) in "What is it like to live in ..." thread in General.

Awaiting ElGato's reply.

TheWickerFan 01-26-2012 06:01 AM

Sounds promising. Fingers crossed.

neverending 01-26-2012 07:31 AM

Which was what I was advocating for before... Why can't he also make you an Admin so that he doesn't have to "deal" with this?
