Iron Maiden Live in Rio
music is great but why the fuck do they have to have soooo many cuts in these films. Yeah...."shot with 35 cameras"....you don't need to use them all in one song. |
The Cure Trilogy Concert where they played their big three goth albums-"Pornography", "Disintegration" and "Bloodflowers" in full so it's gold dust if you love those albums.
|
I used to be quite fond of Disintegration but definitely dig their early stuff more.
----- CROWBAR - Live: With Full Force http://www.musicfearsatan.com/DSK/cr..._%28big%29.jpg Really enjoyed this one. Liked how they mixed the concert footage with some interviews and band history. Pretty stoked how down to earth these guys were. Well worth checking out if you like your hard rock. Really underrated band. |

Depeche Mode: Devotional DVD filmed by Anton Corbjin.
Show on their Devotional Tour (1993-1994) which Q Magazine called "the most debauched tour ever!", Easy to see why when you read what happened to each band member at the end of it. Dave Gahan tried to kill himself with a heroin overdose, Alan Wilder burned out and quit the band, Martin L Gore had alchol induced seizures and Andy Fletcher suffered from "anxiety issues". That's a bad comedown! Can't wait for their new album due this year wonder if they'll finally get Alan Wilder to re-join the band. I doubt it but you never know. |
RUSH
Clockwork Angles Tour these dudes still rock |
Black Sabbath-Gathered in Their Masses

On a pretty unrelated note, I've been listening to a lot of Carcass lately, gearing up to see them in a couple months. The last show I saw was High on Fire / Kvelertak. I know, not so much related to DVDs, but I don't buy many concert DVDs. |

Van Halen - Burnin' In Buenos Aires, 1983
Thin Lizzy - Live In Concert 1983 Also been watching a new BBC documentary Born To Be Wild: The Golden Age Of American Rock Not that much new info or material but still a good watch. |
Kiss - In Concert
Bought this one today for 3 euros. Contains live songs from over the years. Overal not bad. Sex Pistols - Live at Budokan 1996 Also 3 euros. Great sound, good performance, lame audience. |
Jonsi Go Live dvd came with a cd as well. His live version of "Grow Till Tall" is epic! Plus the version of "Around Us" is wonderfully trippy at the end.
|
THE WHO;LIVE IN TEXAS-Pretty good concert from them on THE WHO BY NUMBERS tour with a lot of TOMMY selections as the film had come out that year. Also got in METAL: A HEADBANGERS JOURNEY by Sam Dunn, a really good doc with loads of bands interviewed. Recommended!

Watching the KISSTORY DVDS. Halfway through Volume 2.

Also saw Failure a month or so ago. Great show. No opening band, just two long sets of grungy space rock. |
Got the deluxe version of SUPER DUPER ALICE COOPER in the mail yesterday and plan to watch it tomorrow. Some 1972 footage that I'm truly psyched about seeing...my all time favorite band performing KILLER, my all time favorite album.::love::::love::

watching some Blackberry Smoke....great stuff if you're into the southern rock at all. http://static.parastorage.com/media/...bf4e91.jpg_256 |
LET THERE BE ROCK (1982). AC/DC concert in Paris, featuring the late great Bon Scott.
|
SLADE AT THE BBC-Great comp off a lot of Top of the Pops performances. Also a good BBC bio of the band as well. What a great band they were!
|
i dont tend to buy, as money is tight, but last concert i watched was the last testament dvd. brutal.
|
NEVER SAY DIE-Black Sabbath. Last tour with Ozzy before the breakup. Despite the lackbuster album, they could still deliver it live.
|
A RETURN TO SIN CITY-A TRIBUTE TO GRAM PARSONS. Various artists do the songs of the late country rock musician (The Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers) with good turns by Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Raul Palo, James Burton although it's odd Emmylou Harris and Chris Hillman are missing. Sadly not missing is Keith Richards who introduced Parsons to a darker drug usage and it's downright embarrassing watching him shamble and croak, especially on the "Love Hurts" duet with Norah Jones::confused::.

JIMI HENDRIX (1973). Documentary of the amazing guitarist, released a few years after he passed has several interviews with friends, family, bandmates etc.
More importantly, it has some astounding footage..."Wild Thing", "Rock Me Baby", "Like A Rolling Stone" (Monterey Pop), "Machine Gun" (Band go Gypsys) and "The Star Spangled Banner" from Woodstock, to name a few. |
I've just watched a Ghoultown gig on YouTube. Hope they make it over to UK after all this has blown over.
|
Heart on a College TV station called AFTER HOURS in 1976 for DREAMBOAT ANNIE. Excellent footage, great playing by all and Ann Wilson also has a wonderful voice and is a vision of loveliness.
|
THE WHO LIVE AT KILBURN- December 1977 show that supposed to be in THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT, but consider a "Disaster" and footage for the film was completed in May 1978. Think this is pretty damn good and Keith Moon is playing better than on TKAA.

AC/DC Live at The Capital Centre 12/21/1981- Not really a DVD, but watched this on YOUTUBE yesterday. It will be 40 years ago tomorrow that I was there::shocked::...can't believe it's been so long ago. Was a Huge fan by this time and determined to see them. Skipped class to wait at the arena (sadly gone by 2002) in chilly weather, sipping booze from other people's flasks, show sold out when I was almost at the ticket window, but second show added and got a good seat on the floor.
Do recall I had a WONDERFUL time here, although my Date certainly didn't (Girlfriend I had broken up with and trying to re-kindle the romance-what better place than an AC/DC show, right?). Best part of the show was during "Let There Be Rock" when Angus Young sat on a Roadie's shoulders and went into the crowd. Thought he would circle around, but went down the aisle I was sitting in and probably not more than 2 feet or so away. I touched him on the shoulder and got shoved away by Security, but people behind Me stopped Me from falling. Very cool seeing myself on the video, although it was brief. Have seen a lot of shows over the decades and still have to declare that the was THE BEST show ever for Me. SO pumped up, SO Sweaty and Such a good performance by "The Thunder From Down Under". |
REO Speedwagon-Live in 1981. Well shot and good performance by the group, no doubt helped by the fact HIGH INFIDELITY was on its way to being a smash, after years of gigging. Gary Richrath was an amazing player.
