SNATCH (2000). Know I mentioned this before-been a few years since I've watched it and still think it's an excellent film. So many inspired comical moments and great performances. ****1/2

Did you try the original trilogy?
Far superior.

I really knew nothing about this, yeah I heard of the films.

I thought this WAS the original and I looked for the second film, and I'm like...different girl and in the Swedish language. I figured it out.

And yes I will watch the original 3.

HAUNTERS 2014

A documentary that follows a local costume/magic shop owner setting up his annual "haunt" for Halloween.

An interesting watch.

That will be interesting to watch. I co-owned and ran an escape room for 3 years, and we'd go to haunted house/escape room conventions, so I'm really interested to see how they do and get on with the HHs.

I watched the rather lengthy 4 min trailer... which makes it look like they cover a few different haunted houses, not just one of a local costume/magic shop owner. Is it one haunt or a bunch of different ones? Looks like it includes one or more extreme ones. I saw a doc on one extreme one, where people agree to be tortured some... some of folks in Haunters looks like the extreme peps in the other doc.

I see what you mean. The trailer i watched seems to have nothing to do with the movie I saw. But there seem to be a few movies with the same name. The one i watched is one house, Phobia House and one family that own the Timid Rabbit magic shop. Takes place in Michigan.

INTOLERABLE CRUELTY (2003). Smooth High profile Divorce Attorney (George Clooney who reminds Me very much of Cary Grant) locks wits with conniving Gold Digger (Catherine Zeta-Jones who also reminds Me of the old time actresses, especially Gene Tierney) and the various up and downs that go with it. Coen Brothers film starts on a high note, but gets timid towards the middle as many of their films seem to do, FARGO notwithstanding. IC should have gone for expected outrageousness and would have been more enjoyable. **1/2

Don't Tell a Soul 7/10

What an odd story. Almost doesn't make sense, but then again, maybe it does under the circumstances.
Nice to see the boy playing Eddie in "It" picking this kind of movie and show he's actually a really good actor.

Angra 01-22-2021 02:42 AM

Born a Champion 6/10

Young Indiana Jones as a pretty damn fit and skillful Jiu-jitsu fighter.

But don't mistake it for a sports flick as it's mostly a drama, very well acted by especially Flanery, who's also co-writer of the movie.

Found Footage 3D: About half a dozen people go out to make "the first ever found footage film in 3D" (How do I feel about 3D? Sure. Fine. Whatever.) with a real life divorcing couple making a film about a couple with marriage problems.

Douchy McDouche leads the production and hits on Lily The Intern with his wife within hearing and seeing distance. Lovely, right? Meanwhile, she flirts with The Nice Kid. Then there's the sound guy Zach Galifianakis (who comes across as the seen it all before type) and Adrian Edmondson comes across as the voice of reason (until he finally snaps too).

Overall, I kinda liked it. It was self aware in a good way, partly because of some likable characters, even though I could not remember all their names. Also, in this one, I don't find the overdone snark that you see in a lot of other horror films. Feels like they wanted to add a layer of pastiche and they did that (kinda) well. Also, towards the end, it delivered a bit in the scares department. Especially with the final shot, which is predictable, but gets the job done.

Gave Hereditary a re-watch, picked up some things I didn't understand before, i really like this movie, the annoying mommy boy, crazy grieving mom, logical annoyed dad family self destruction due to girls death is pretty sad, the deaths were creative, and it left me wondering what was gonna happen after the ending, left a lot to the imagination....

Apparently those days are gone now, according to Liam.

Get used to see him in Shakespeare plays and Christmas romantic comedies.

DARK SHADOWS (2012) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SPOILERS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Loved the TV series when little-it also got Me interested in all Supernatural areas. After watching the whole run (after Barnabas arrives) over four years recently, Goodness knows there are LOTS of dead spots and big servings of Corn and Ham. But it had its own quirky charm and I feel it's aged pretty well for a 50 something year Low budget serial.

Had high expectations for this as knew Burton and Depp were big fans. I can't complain at all about the exteriors, approve of how Johnny all but nails Barnabas's twitchiness and rocking score (especially the Alice Cooper spots and "Sick of You " by Iggy and The Stooges)

I can complain about the totally wretched script...there are some amusing lines (especially about Alice Cooper), but it tries too hard to be "Hip" and the reveal about Carolyn is stupid. Way too much sex in here and I just lost all hope when Julia gives Barnabas the Blow Job in her office...what were they thinking? Such a wasted opportunity! Not even NIGHT OF DARK SHADOWS was this bad. *1/2
