i havent seen IA .. but one of the guys with us had and said it was very close.
Scorcese - while putting his stamp on it - still left the strong feel of a HK film.

i rented hoboken hollow last weekend and it was poor. they shouldn't plaster dennis hopper and michael madsens names on the cover if they are basically cameo roles. thought i was getting a good slasher with some big names. disappointed!

Pretty good, but what a fucking bizare ending. I really enjoyed the movie, but the last 10 minutes or so are just "What the hell?"

I do recomend it though. It's no Sin City, but the digital backgrounds/sets give the movie kind of a cool feel. It has it's flaws, but I liked this alot more than I thought I would

So, has anyone else seen this? Im kind of curious to see what other people thought of it.

7.8/10

I was very impressed.

Fangoria was right to rave about this film as much as it did (it was released by fangoria's gorezone, although there wasnt much gore)

despite some bad acting, this film was beautifully directed. The story is real good to and unfolds in well done way. i highly suggest it.

expect A History Of Voilence mixed the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
(there is a pretty stupid leatherface rip off)

The Black Cat (1941 version)

This movie rules. Pretty good mystery with an awesome cast. Hugh Herbert is a riot.

but he can play it different ways - hero or villian .. or some of both.

i think his film experience in the US diluted an almost perfect record.

it was cool seeing him in roger rabbit because it was so against his style of filmmaking ... but the mario brothers for christs sake ?

The Ghost of Frankenstein

Wasnt bad, but weak compared to the 3 movies before it.

I was really disapointed with Lon Chaney Jr's performance....I usually really like him, but he was awful as the "monster".

Night of the Creeps......a bit dated but still fun......"Thrill me"

Something about 80s movies....the music and hairstyles...man that was some bad shit.

TCM The Beginning

Questionable acting, bad camerawork at times, and it was predictable but I think it's getting a bad rap. I thought it was some good gory fun and a lot better than what I've been seeing released recently as horror.

bwind22 10-10-2006 11:00 PM

At Midnight I'll take Your Soul

This is a black & white film out of S. America from the mid 60's. It revolves around a sinister character named Coffin Joe who will stop at nothing to get the woman he desires. For it's time, the gore is probably great, but not so much nowadays. The FX are pretty poor but this is still a fairly entertaining & unique piece of work. I don't exaclty know who I'd recommend something like this to but for diehard horror fans, it's worth checking out, if for no other reason than you rarely find S. American horror at all, let alone from the 60s.

Darkman

This movie is like a comic book put to film. (Was it actually a comic book before it became a movie?) Anyways, Sam Raimi shows why we all tend to adore his work in this dark, violent tale of vigilante justice. A tragic hero, a nasty villain, a good story, good action, good acting and nice direction, and even a Bruce Campbell cameo. What more could you ask for from an early 90's comic style action film?

I just put the fog in.I was gonna watch it a week ago but I decided not to.It's definately a lot better than the remake.

All the films I watched today....

Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Ernest Scared Stupid
Eight Legged Freaks
-------------------------------These three were while I was at work.

Then when I got home I watched:

Lucky Number Slevin
Texas Chainsaw Masscre 4: The Next Generation
The Sympathy of Lady Vengeance

Bloody Mitts 10-11-2006 03:15 AM

Wow, last few I've watched over maybe a 3 day period were...

The Descent.. I was disappointed but it makes a good date movie.

Aeon Flux.. Sci-fi but I give it a lot more credit than even the creator of the series did.

and right now i'm in the middle of watching Saw 2.. this movie is 'suspenseful' (horror style) and I am enjoying it so far, i think the only thing that will ruin the movie for me will be a horrible ending.. which i doubt seeing as how the first one ended well and they are releasing a third.

Tommorrow - Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake) and The hills Have Eyes. If time allows I'll probrablly pop in Silent Hill as well (I'll be damned biased on that one).

R.I.Peace out folks.

Saw 2 > Saw

I thought the ending of the first Saw was totally a film-killer. It punched way to many holes in the plot for me to enjoy it. Saw 2's ending actually makes sense and is executed well. This is one of the very few cases that I prefer the sequel to the original. (Also, the blond guy in the original... He was a terrible fuckin' actor.)

Cary Elwes? Terrible? He's the Dread Pirate Westly! Robin Hood! (with an English accent no less)

Maura Tierney's douchebag boyfriend in Liar Liar!

How dare you?!?!

the_real_linda 10-11-2006 12:05 PM

i bought saw (finally!) from asda last night, my moms got saw 2. she wont let me put them together. grr. the same with the descent....i bought it for her to watch but she's kept it but it belongs with 'dog soldiers'.....plus neil took my course at uni and one of my lecturers is obsessed with 'the descent'. i watched 'mean girls' with my sister yesterday.......ive watched that a lot recently.....hmmmmmm.......and i watched texas chainsaw2 and the dark.

He's a good actor usually, but Im with Bwind on this: He sucked ass in Saw.

And for the record, I didnt like Saw 2's ending.

***Spoilers (obviously)***

The Amanda thing was OK, but chaining the detective to the wall just goes against EVERYTHING that Jigsaw "teaches". There is no weay for him to redeem himself, to learn a life lesson. I thought it was pretty dumb, despite the movie being better overall than #1.
