Due to the fact that I've heard breaking my Fanny and Alexander cherry with the theatrical version would be a big no-no, I have yet to sit down and watch its director's cut. Is this your first time watching it?

Haha, that's sound advice. Bergman had to, as he said, "cut into the nerves and lifeblood of the film," thus removing a lot of the tenderness and fantasy not only present but propulsive throughout the series.

Watching the entire thing is a wonder. It's so enchanting that it could no doubt easily be watched in one sitting, all 5+ hours, if you have the time.

This is my second time watching the series, and I'm enjoying it even more this time around. Regarding the theatrical cut, I say if you can watch the series, don't even bother with it.

Otoshiana (Pitfall) (1962)

A completely unique and deceptively complex work about many, many things that shifts between many, many different styles and moods and (even) genres, all the time feeling completely natural and never forced.

A damn impressive debut film from Hiroshi Teshigahara.

Highly recommended to Alky, V, Neverending, Return, Papillon, and anyone that might enjoy a politically charged, eerie, and unusual ghost story about fate and the future.

The Unborn

I'm not a big fan of ghost movies anyway, but this was trash, the lead actress was just absolutley terrible... If kids freak you out though you might like it.

Return to House on Haunted Hill (2007)

Ugh...not much to like about this one, at all. It hung on to some of the atmosphere of the first one which was a plus, but otherwise pretty sad. Full of gaping plot holes and huge lapses in logic, piss-poor dialogue, clichés galore and Jeffery Combs at his absolute worst.

I really wanted to like this - both the original and the remake are among my all time favourite horror flicks - but it really is as bad as it looks. Avoid.

(All that aside - the main girl is hot. Just wanted to get that out there.)

My Bloody Valentine (Remake)

It was watchable. Decent acting. Clearly this was just intended to be for fun, and not to be good, so it worked. Decent attempt at the "who'se the killer" twist, but execution ended up failing. I expected great kills, but they were really generic... Pick axe to the eye, pick axe to the ear, pick axe to the face, pick axe to the nose, pick axe to the other eye, etc. One scene that stood out to me as more than decent was the chase scene in the grocery store. All in all, decent.

The Hangover

It was humerous in parts, but rather predictable in parts as well. I was expecting it to be a bit more in your face as well. But it was just middle of the road. Mike Tyson let it down a lot as well, it just made it feel cheap, name dropping like that.

Black Santa's Revenge

Wasn't as bad as people led me to believe. Pretty fun short flick anyways that was pretty slick for an indie production.

I've been thinking about checking that one out. I've been diggin' on watching shitty comedies on Sundays the last few months.

It's nothing more than a sunday afternoon flick, I recomend it for that, it's just that it needed a few piss yourself moments that it didn't have.

Walk Hard is a good one, if you haven't seen that you should check it out...
