stephen king's Riding the Bullet

one of the most annoying films i've ever seen.

i felt like I was watching 'Big Fish 2'

no fault of the direction or acting .. just the smarmy story.

Office Space- My parents had never seen it, which is a crime, so I watched it with them.

From Dusk Till' Dawn 2

Wasn't bad for a cheesy B vampire flick, not as good as the original but I wasn't expecting it to be.

Escape from LA

Uh...wow. Basically just a rehash of the first one, but I enjoyed it. Really, really stupid in places, but I realise that was the point:p

The Thing

8/10

The slowness at parts is masterfully covered up by fear of who was infected.

I wish they had relied more on atmosphere for this movie, I don't think it lived up to the antarctica thing enough.

halloweenfreak1 09-10-2006 10:08 AM

I saw the fog remake... and it was the WORST remake i have ever witnessed in my life (Good special effects though).

Miss Olivia 09-10-2006 10:11 AM

Casino. It was great watching Sharon Stone croak. She played such a stupid c**t. Great movie.

I've got to disagree with you there. I think this is, besides maybe Alien, the most atmospheric horror movie out there.

^ I agree. I had such high hopes for Lucky, still a great director.

Going to see The Covenant tonight. Once in a while you need a braindead cgi-throwing, sexual-energy-driven movie.

Hmm, I was just discussing that flick with my mom yesterday. It's a great lot of fun.

When you and your kid run out of Jerry Louis/Dean Martin movies, you should start him on the "Road To" Bob Hope/Bing Crosby films. I think they're all a whooping fun time, and you can get a fantastic little set of four for CDN$20. I highly recommend them, the set is very similar to the Abbott and Costello sets, also released by Universal.

If by that, you mean MAY... then yes, yes he did. He wrote it too.

Covenant.
It's what you expected. Model-cast, lots of skinning and homoerotic moments, poor acting, a weak plot that tries to be metaphoric toward drug usage, and of course, cheesy effects.

I expected better. Not amazing, no, but butter. I wanted a big ol' battle that didn't end so horribly (not as in... sad or tragic, but as... sucky.)

You're a HIGHLY optomistic guy/girl. I expect it to be crap so I'm not even bothering with the theatre, but I'll probably rent it out of morbid curiosity.

newb 09-10-2006 07:46 PM

Lucky # Slevin....not bad. Good acting...I kinda figured out the twist half way through....bit i'm a genius.

novadawn969 09-10-2006 07:58 PM

Catch Me If You Can. I kinda liked it... 3/5 stars

newb 09-10-2006 08:13 PM

Not a movie but worth a mention. If you have HBO you gotta watch the comedy special "Flight of the Concords"....these guys are hysterical.

Session 9

Alright, I had watched this once and found it drastically over-stated on this message board so I figured maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind for it & when I saw it on Encore this week, I DVR'd it and gave it another go... I don't know what it is, but I just can 't get in to this film. I'm not a big fan of ghost/haunting stories to begin with, but ones that try to pull it off without even bothering to show you the ghost really need to make up for it some other way and I just don't feel like this one does it. The direction is fine, the acting is fine, but there's barely any gore and the plot gets unneccesarily confusing towards the end when it tries throwing in twists and turns. I don't know... I've tried twice now and haven't really dug this movie either time.

Kolobos

Pretty painfull but worth a watch for a couple of scenes.

tarcher80 09-11-2006 09:25 AM

haven't be posting too much lately b/c of work, but i have been watching a shit ton of movies as usual. here are a few:

kiss kiss bang bang - good flick, watch it twice
midnight run - smart, funny, great acting
jersey girl - not as bad as reviewed
eaten alive - vomit
carnage - why god why
sympathy for lady vengeance - great, watch it twice
vampire hunter d - always a fun watch... the only thing i don't like about the flick is the over explantion of the plot in the characters' dialogue. maybe it's lost in the translation, but that's why i'm not a big fan of anime.
