Clerks 2

I saw it at the show and I'm going to buy the dvd, so I didn't have any problem downloading it.

i like that movie ... the one problem with it was the wise cracking asian guy ... got sick of his character immediately.

it worked well for him in "Big Trouble" but it failed in this film

I've always liked this film, bad acting and all. The one that annoyed me the most was Jameson Parker - "Let's be the stoic hero and not show any emotion whatsoever!"

Hellraiser 2. It's entertaining, but I have to admit most of it makes me giggle. Especially the doctor during and after his transformation into a REAL "head doctor". When he's supposed to be yelling, it seems like he's doing a very bad Pavarotti imitation. Like if you had a drunk Italian uncle named Vito who would drink too much wine and try to sing opera....Well, I guess if you don't have a drunk Italian uncle you wouldn't really know what I'm talking about. Anyway, the singing monster cracks me up. Pretty funny stuff.
I love Hellraiser II!

Was he the same guy that played the store owner in Tremors?

Yep Victor Wong is his name I believe, he was in 3 Ninja's too, at least that's what I always remember him from.

I just watched Trailer Town, and uhhh yeah it was pretty lame. I wanted to like it, but I didn't even crack a smile

Final Destination

One of the most original slashers ever made. Maybe not nessesarily one of the best, but it's still alot of fun. I havent seen either of the sequels yet, but Im strongly considering buying the boxset.

Yeah, I love it too. One of my more entertaining movies, singing monsters and all.

Just watched Memoirs of a Geisha. I probably would have liked it a lot better if I hadn't been so crazy about the book. They mangled the story pretty good. Still, it was very beautifully shot... just a little boring.

newb 08-29-2006 05:34 PM

"The Sentinel"
Pretty much "by the numbers" action/drama thing. Not a bad watch but why do they insist on casting the same people in the "bad guy role"?......as soon as it turned into a mystery..[who was the mole in the secret service] I turned to my wife and said....."its that guy". And I was correct.

again

7/10

Really, could someone tell me why the chandelier thing was a big scare?

No, I haven't seen this yet, but I have heard nothing but good things, so I can't wait to check it out.

I enjoyed this, but of course I haven't read the book. Is the book that good? Is the book a lot different than the movie?

Its a comedy/drama movie but it doesn't try to be funny like many comedies. The whole theatre was cracking up. Someone told to me check this movie out and I was iffy but steve carell was in it and he is hilarious in everything he does. I don't think anyone would be disappointed in this movie. The little girl in the movie is a great actress.

persuasian70 08-29-2006 07:58 PM

Creep 7.5/10 - I thought this movie was pretty good. The director did a great job with the set and creating an atmosphere. Franka Potente did a great job as usual, and the villain was very well done. The movie left a lot of questions unanswered as to the origins of the killer, but I'm ok with it as it leaves it up to the viewers to deduce and use their imagination. What I didn't like was the behavior of the people in peril. I hate it when people have the killer down and dont finish him off. That's all I will say. Other than the last part, an enjoyable experience.

The book is one of the best stories I've read in years. It is a good bit different than the movie, but I enjoyed the book more because the story was written so beautifully. If you haven't read it, I would highly recommend it.

"Darkman"

I love this movie. I remember seeing it in the theaters and thinking it was great, and years later I still think it is one of Sam Raimi's best movies

re the changeling chandelier scene ..

i'm old enough so that i saw this in the theatre ..
the film sas so good and i was so engrossed in it - that when the chandelier fell i felt it was falling on me and i jumped a mile.

some things work better on the big screen.

Victor Wong played the professor in Prince of Darkness. I believe the character that urge is talking about is the Asian student (don't know the actor's name but the character was Walter).

Pete's Dragon ..

i had never seen this movie before..

what an annoying piece of shit.
terrible terrible songs,
hellen reddy as a lead actress ???

Elliot the dragons sounds were made by charlie callus ... drove me nuts ..

the animation/real life blending effects were pretty decent for the time .. thats the only positive thing i can say about it ..

Vodstok 08-30-2006 07:02 AM

hidalgo. i love this movie in spite of it's obvious flaws
it has a little bit of everything

I love Vigo. Aragorn was my favorite character in LOTR
A guy gets impaled
there is reacing and fighting.
Omar Sharif is fun to watch in anything (Anythign i have seen anyway)

Plus, my wife and I saw this in the theater right after watching Dawn of the Dead 04 in the theater. Good Day :)

"Ultraviolet". While a lot better than the last peice of shit "futuristic action/thriller starring random hot bitch" I saw, I was still overall unimpressed, and the storyline started to fall apart at about the half way mark. Nice comicbook feel, but...left me underwhelmed.

Idlewild (and i am apparently the only person who actually still goes to the theater to see movies)

it was sort of fun - the rapper guy from Outkast was actually fairly good -the "hey now" guy was very wooden (which was fairly well hidden since his character was an introverted pianist). the movie was fairly cliche and the 'real actors' often looked like they were standing around waiting for their paycheck. . .

it also had a weird way of shifting into modern hip-hop music video mode and then abruptly shifting out

but, the film was not without its charms and some of the music was good. . . if anything the film was made by the little touches (a talking rooster on a flask of whiskey kept me laughing throughout) and some relatively touching moments. . . .i'd give it a B-
