Classic! I'm afraid the UK is still not quite there yet with the movie merchandising...if it wasn't for Forbidden Planet, Mc Farlane (spawn) etc toys then we'd still be stuck with tin soldiers and good imaginations!

Forbidden Planet...what a place!

Theres a really good toy shop where I live though. Loads of star wars stuff, sin city, aliens etc. Got life size Predator head and huge 4 ft alien statues etc. If I was rich I'd buy everything in that shop!

urgeok 08-17-2006 08:44 AM

we have a few places like that here... more comic book oriented than movie though ..

but they do have a lot of the 'toys' and statues ...

and yeah, you'd have to be filthy rich to get most of them..

Miss Olivia 08-17-2006 09:14 AM

Biohunter. It was good, I really like it. The only problem is there's only the one episode, and they haven't made any more. I'd like to see more of them.

Yeti.13 08-17-2006 09:18 AM

Tales from the Crapper.

Guess what......is was crap!

Spoorloos 08-17-2006 09:43 AM

The Shaft

the title says it all. i should have changed the channel after the first 15mins but i decided to give it a chance. i could have wrote a better horror movie when i was 5.

History of Violence

It wasnt bad, but not all its cracked up to be. Ed Harris and William Hurt were both fantastic though.

I was looking at that in the store earlier on in the week. I'm a fan of Cronenberg but I dunno about this one.... Spider didn't really do much for me. Maybe I'll wait till his next weirdo sci-fi outing.

Urban Legend 3: Bloody Mary

I enjoyed this but I won't be keeping it in my collection. A couple of scenes of terrible looking CGI effects totally ruined it for me. Its become a pet hate of mine. I was digging it (sure its a unoriginal story blah, blah) but those effects just made me go "Fuck that looks dumb".
You don't really need to see this if you've seen Prom Night II and at least that flick didn't piss itself away with sloppy effects.

You have your opinion, I have mine. :D

So... Snakes on a Plane.
Got in fine. Got a free plastic snake. Got a free comic.
It was pretty much amazing, the experience... that is.

The movie... well... eeeh.
Let's just say...
Name one movie that lives up to it's hype?
Can you? I can.

Snakes on a Plane.

IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING!

Miss Olivia 08-17-2006 09:36 PM

I want a free plastic snake.

I can't wait to see it.

i didnt find it slow paced in the least ..

i have completely different expectations for a film .. if i'm engrossed it seems like a fine pace to me.

My Dinner With Andre was a fast paced film to me .
all it was - was 2 guys talking over dinner ...
great conversation ..

give me that over non stop attention deficite disorder bullshit action films anyday.

I just watched "Castle of Blood" with Barbara Steele and found it to be kind of creepy! In the 70's I saw a color remake of this film called "Web of the Spider," and I was looking for that one too because it scared me back then; but this original version is pretty good. Nice, fucked up haunted house movie.

You said the 'f' word:eek:
That's the second time I ever saw a posting from you with that word, It's time for the soap Mister;) JK

I watched the Jimmy Neutron movie or hour long show or somesuch thing...It was engrossing and had very helpful hints about what to do when Experiments of Utmost Magnitude fail.
I give it 4 stars

Miss Olivia 08-17-2006 11:03 PM

Was it the Jimmy Neutron with the giant alien chicken?
I love that movie.

I just watched The Sixth Sense. I had to, because Haley Joel Osmont got arrested for drunk driving and possession of narcotics. It put an entertaining light on a scary movie.
Bad Haley Joe. Bad.

The STE 08-17-2006 11:16 PM

Snakes on a Plane. Great movie to see in theaters with a big crowd

dabruce16 08-17-2006 11:45 PM

snakes on a plane. i was hoping to see it with a large crowd, but all my small ass theater got was three dudes and a lesbian couple.

virose_pt 08-18-2006 02:42 AM

The Grudge. I loved it!

The Descent. Just OK.

Hero. One of the most visually beautiful movies I've seen in years. There is nothing I don't like about this movie. The story is excellent, the martial arts and imagery is perfect, and the end brings a tear to my eye.
It's pretty close to perfect, IMO.

Visually beautiful, hell yes.

Story, hmm..

But the long wire fighting sequenzes seriously ruined this movie for me. I really HATE that kind of stuff.

Miss Olivia 08-18-2006 10:24 AM

I like watching people flying around and fighting upside down.
But I bet it's REALLY uncomfortable to film.:p
I liked all the twists in the story, and the way different scenarios were played out, with the colors changing for each scenario. The last statement of Nameless, "the ultimate act of a true warrior is to lay down his sword"....well, that really struck a nerve with me. It's a noble sentiment, and I've always had a weak spot for nobility.

Yeah, iŽll bet you cried your eyes out.

I thought the story felt very..... Long.

But i went to see this movie because i thought it was a visually beautiful war movie with great wars.

And yes, the use of colors was amazing. Never seen a movie as beautiful.

But the great wars... please. It was nothing but one on one wire fights. And that was tiresome for me to watch for 3 hours.

"Sleepers"

Oh boy, what a depressing movie.

I was whishing for the prison guards to be gang raped in jail. But it never happened.... Escape by death. Lucky scumbags.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!....

i always liked that movie, tough gritty. yes, it is pretty depressing and the resolution isn't wrapped-up nice, tight, and sugar coated. that's why i like it.

i 2nd that. we went to the toy store yesterday to get rubber snakes for the show and they were almost sold out! i was thinking... wouldn't be great if snakes grossed more money than a movie like spider man?! it would hilarious to see it up there w/ the likes of jaws, the godfather, harry potter, and titanic. i know it can't happen (lower distribution), but its a funny thought.

zwoti 08-18-2006 02:47 PM

i stand alone

Awesome as always, i haven't seen it in years.

Willow:

Also a great movie, i haven't seen in years

******SESSION9 SPOILERS********

i said it was slow and predictable, and this is why. i said it was slow because i almost turned it off from being bored. also the reason i said predictable, i didn't know it was a psych thriller, though it would have been a ghost story, but all through the movie there was no mention of ghost or supernatural, and when that dude goes back for the coins and stuff, his flashlight shines on a man. when the man said he hit his wife for burning his leg, a flag went up in my head about him. i saw the movie as more of the dudes decent into madness, rather than a who done it.

ManchestrMorgue 08-18-2006 05:02 PM

Jaws 2

Haven't seen this one in a while. Not in the same league as the original, but an enjoyable experience nonetheless. And late 70's fashion always takes a movie up another notch in my books...
