Lake Mungo (2008)
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/...82,268_AL_.jpg

This was a great little indie mystery movie from Australia in the form of a documentary. I think it works really well, with great atmosphere and genuinely intriguing and creepy. Worth checking out.

Valhalla Rising (2009)
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/...82,268_AL_.jpg

Violent and mesmerizing, with some interesting imagery and audio, this movie is somehow compelling with very little happening story wise. It requires thought and exploration to ponder the symbolism and makes for an interesting watch.

8/10

Isn’t the entire movie one long interview?

ZOMBILENIUM 2017

Picked this up for the grandkids. An animated film about a government inspector who falls prey to the owner of a carnival of real monsters. It does have mildly scary parts but it is charming and we all loved it.

Tommy Jarvis 09-09-2019 12:27 PM

Dario Argento: An Eye for Horror

Saw this on youtube today. Well worth a watch.

I think yes and no from what I remember about Lake Mungo. I recall liking the twist and documentary style of the movie. Not enough to own. But it was worth a watch. It was probably on FearNet then. I searched and didn't review it here though. I probably wasn't a member of the forum back then.

Well it's shot like a documentary. It's a mocumentary style that is investigating the potentially supernatural events that happened after the drowning of the girl, mainly through the interviewing of her family and friends about the events.

I enjoyed it and it did well with critics. Definitely worth a watch unless you definitively can't stand mockumantaries.

I can’t. And I’ve seen it. Was bored out of my mind.

Not enough 'splosians? ::stick out tongue::

HIS NAME WAS JASON (2009). Decent doc on the FRIDAY, THE 13th franchise hosted by Tom Savini with interviews from directors, victims, production staff, fans etc. Was released prior to the 2009 reboot, which I've not seen (is on NETFLIX queue) and although most of the F13 films are sub par, this was still a fun watch. ***1/2

I really enjoyed this.

Wicked Witches (2018) - 3/10

Pretty horrible film. I don't know why I torture myself so much watching these straight to the dollar bin films.

What the hell are splosians? Some kind of aliens? Was that what the movie was all about?

Never mind. I spelled it wrong. It was supposed to be 'splosions like how a redneck might say "explosions". But i kinda like the way you went with it. ::wink::

I don’t need explosions in movies. I’m old and find it annoyingly noisy.

What I DO need is a movie to show me what’s happening and not just telling me about it. That pisses me off.

Angra 09-14-2019 06:20 AM

It - part two 2019

First third of the movie was the best, with great monsters. The next hour the story moved on slowly, without the movie getting dull tho. The came the long endning that was... well, better than the first adaptation.

Still I need either a long ass movie or a tv show that takes it time to flesh out the true essens of the books. A small city infected by an unknown evil.

I'll watch anything Fessenden does. Great take on the Frankenstein story. Great look, great music but still sad.

HOAX 2019

Bit of a lukewarm Bigfoot story with a "twist". I did not like it.

Of the horror films that have come out recently, I was most intrigued by this one.

Saw Get Out a second time tonight. Holds up well. I see a couple of possible allegories to the main story. Any takes on Get Out?

IT 2

7/10

Could had been good, but the CGI was on turbo mode. Also I did not like the new Pennywise, it made Tim Curry look even better.
I liked a lot the other cast, they really got them spot on.

Overall a bit of nostalgia trip.
