i didn't hate it

from the producer of "Dog Soldiers"?

Funny, Dog Soldiers says "From the producer of Hellraiser"

I guess they liked Dog Soldiers better, too. :)

Batman Returns

Not as good as the first IMO, but still damn good. Danny DeVito is tailor made for The Penguin:D

It's rumored that somewhere in the next two films Penguin 'll show up and Philip Seymour Hoffman is the lead prospect. I think he'd be great as well.

The_Return 08-04-2006 04:00 PM

I cant really picture the Penguin in Nolan's universe. He's such an absurd character...so is Joker, but he could/should/does have a dark side. Penguin is just so over-the-top, I cant picture it.

On the other hand, PSH would be perfect for the part.

From what I've read the Penguin will be kind of re-written as an arms dealer with his sights set on Gotham.

alkytrio666 08-04-2006 07:50 PM

All of these for the first time:
  • The Wicker Man (1973)-7.5/10
  • House of the Dead-1.5/10
  • Kill Bill vol. 1-8.5/10
  • Kill Bill vol. 2-9/10
  • Midnight Cowboy-8.5/10
  • Natural Born Killers-4/10

I retract my past statement that Tarintino is an overrated director. He's one hell of a filmmaker.

Posher778 08-04-2006 08:16 PM

Clerks 2

7.5/10

It was entertaining.

I figured it would be something like that. Sure as hell can't have him conversing with penguins and other way over the top stuff.

The Descent -- It wasn't the most enjoyable movie experience because the person I went with is not into "horror" movies and showed up to the theater five minutes after the start time of the movie. (She's family, so I gotta love her...or so she says.:p) The reason she HAD to go see it with me was because it was payback time. She dragged me to Date Movie, so it was my turn to inflict a little misery. She got off lucky if you ask me. I was originally going to make her see The Hills Have Eyes, but our schedules wouldn't allow it.

As for the movie...I liked it, although it was a little slow at the beginning. Now before anyone starts complaining, I don't have a problem with setting up background information or providing character development, but all of it dragged on just a little longer than necessary IMO.

Being a tad claustrophobic myself, the cave scenes left me a little breathless. All that climbing through tunnels, being in the dark, etc. got to me. And those "monster men" were pretty creepy.

I read that the original ending was changed to the one in theaters now because the original one seemed too "hopeless." Well, I don't know what their definition of "hopeless" is, but the ending they're showing now seems pretty "hopeless" to me. I'm anxious to see the original ending and compare levels of "hopelessness."

It's not as good as Anchorman but quite entertaining nonetheless.

The_Return 08-05-2006 07:25 PM

Ug, I think that looks awful. I loved Anchorman, but the previews from Talledega Nights look terrible. Anchorman had some twisted sence of class to it...this just looks juvenile, and stupid.

i thought some of it was pretty funny from what i saw in the ads. "HELP ME JESUS! HELP ME OPRAH! HELP ME TOM CRUISE!"

but ya its definelty not gonna be as good as Anchorman. Anchorman was phenomonal.

You know, that the exact scene that I was thinking of while writing that post. Worst part of a bad trailer IMO.

Natural Born Killers was kind of like The Devil's Rejects.

The difference is, NBK had no emotion.

I do not see how someone could enjoy it.

Hoot (kids film) - with the family ..
not as bad as i thought it would be .

Dreamscapes - always a good movie .. great cast - although even in retrospect - Dennis Quaid and his goofy grin is wearing thin on me.. and i hated the kid 'buddy' his baseball hat, freckles, red nasty hair - and his fucking name.
