PARANORMAL FARM 2: CLOSER TO THE TRUTH 2018

Liked the first one better but this one had some bite to it as well. After filming a found-footage style film on a couple's farm, the producer/director revisits them to discuss the film's success. He then discovers something really is wrong at the farm.

My pick for the zombie theme for cult movie night. I think I was the only one paying attention and watching this but I was so enjoying myself. I caught myself smiling and saying out loud, ''holy fuck this is so good''!

Brian Paulin is a master of FX, right up there with Toe Tag and Oddtopsy. ::love::

That was really good. Very enlightening. I completely missed the Dante's Inferno correlation, which isn't too surprising as my knowledge of it was second hand.

That analysis of 1408 reminded me of a really good analysis of The Sixth Sense, picking up on the symbolism.

Copycat (1995) Netflix
6/10

IMDB: An agoraphobic psychologist and a female detective must work together to take down a serial killer who copies serial killers from the past.

It's a mildly entertaining movie-movie, but never really believable.

TERRIFIED 2017

Three families in a small neighborhood suffer horrible tragedies. It appears the paranormal is involved. Seriously creeped me out.

Not exactly horror but I just finished watching The Green Mile.

I give it a 10/10.

This is a very touching film. I am classifying it as horror because this situation would be horrifying for anyone. I watch this on Netflix and I have to say, it got me right in the feels. Who ever played Jack did a amazing job.

The Overnight - 7.5/10

This isn't a horror movie, it does have some free tents and uncomfortable moments in it though and is a pretty interesting story about a young married couple with a young son who have just moved to Los Angeles and are looking to make friends so one day at the park while their kid is playing he makes friends with another kid and then the parents become friends and get invited over for dinner. Things get pretty intense and I'm sure you might figure the direction it's going and you just have to watch it but it is pretty good and has some comic relief here and there.

HIRED GUN (2016). Very good doc which follows in the footsteps of 20 FEET FROM STARDOM, THE WRECKING CREW and STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF MOTOWN (all three are highly recommended) by being about musicians who are hired to tour or record without much hope of credit or tenure. Some really good interviews here with Jason Hook (from Hillary Duff to Alice Cooper to Five Finger Death Punch!), Rudy Sarzo, Steve Lukather, Brad Gillis, Kenny Aranoff (Huge balls this guy has::cool::!), Ray Parker , Jason Newstead, Liberty Devito, Nita Strauss and Eric Singer among many more. Pink and Alice Cooper come off as being ideal to work for and if You are a Billy Joel fan, pass on this, because he does not come off good AT ALL. ****

That sounds really good. Seeing a slice of the roady musician and studio musician would be interesting. I've always been a fan of Steve Lukather's guitar solos. He was a member of Toto.

Color of Night (1994)
6/10

In this thriller mystery Bruce Willis plays a clinical psychologist who's doubting himself after he loses a patient. He visits a good friend (Scott Bakula) who's also a shrink, and sits in with his therapy group. His friend ends up brutally murdered, and a police detective (Ruben Blades) talks Willis into taking over the group to see if the murderer is in the group.

A lot was made of the gratuitous 'erotic' scenes, and the film was panned at the time, including 'earning' a Golden Raspberry Award as the worst film of 1994. Was directed by Richard Rush.

The plot, all of which I can't reveal, is really audacious and completely improbable, but with the magic of cinema the director pulls it off. It's a bit of a pop version mix between Dressed to Kill and Marnie. It does manage to be suspenseful thriller with some interesting characters. And there's excellent performances by Ruben Blades and lead actress Jane March. It also has a great theme song in "Color of the Night" performed by Lauren Christy.

The film's runtime is insanely fat at 2h 20m (director's cut), or just over 2hs (theatrical release). If it was cut to 90mins, it would be pretty decent. I think the erotic scenes float outside the storyline and hinders the cohesion.

I don't recommend it. I guess I just wondering if anyone had seen it before?

I guess it got director's cut... thankfully. It's kind of funny how director's cuts never seem to be shorter than the theatrical release. I wonder if anyone's ever seen a director's cut that was a good 30mins shorter? Seems director's cuts are more like combining the deleted scenes section with the film.

I don't think I've ever seen one that was much different -- except Dune 1984 Extended Version which was edited by another director, and it was much longer, but changed the overall theme of the film quite a bit.

Ridley Scott added scenes to his Alien director's cut that made sense, and helped make re-watching the film more worthwhile -- there was Cartwright slapping Ridley, and Ridley finding Dallas cocooned next to eggs asking to be killed (something I thought invented by Cameron) before she gets to the escape pod. It answers where they went, but then again, they show the alien making what you'd think was a kill bite on Parker and Baseball Cap.

Detention of the dead: as far as zombie flicks go, this one is kind of fun. A few laughs, some good kills... The poor man's breakfast club-vibe is even entertaining at times.

Also, what is the deal with horror movies and Asian stoners? Is that becoming a new trope?
