Finally got round to watching my copy of Xtro. Pretty unusual but I really liked it. Might give the sequel (I've heard bad things so I'm a bit weary!) a day in court after I get thru the Ring boxset.

@Return: I really wanna see Hell of the Living Dead... I'll hopefully come across a copy at some stage.

I wouldnt go out of my way to find it. I mean, it wasnt really awful or anything, but it's nothing you wouldnt have seen a thousand times before. Some pretty good gore (esp. near the end), but otherwise it's nothing new or different.

Did you get my PM about the Heavenly Creatures DVD dude?

tarcher80 07-13-2006 09:00 AM

Dave Chappel's Block Party: A+

If you're hoping to see any of Chappel's hilarious stand-up you'll be disappointed, but if you love live music this is it. I love hip-hop (real hip-hop) and it doesn't get too much better than The Roots w/ Erika Badu singing, Black Thought/Mos Def/Tablib Quali/Common all spitting at the same time. Its a great concert doc.

Terminator 3 not as good as the first two but still worth a watch and I really liked the car chase seen.

Yeh it is a pretty impressive chase scene.

My favorite... of all 6... Yeah i know its weird.

Darth Maul is the coolest person ever. EVER.

8/10

Sick_As_Fuck 07-13-2006 10:31 PM

I just saw the OG Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the first time, although I believe it was a bit edited even though it was on IFC. Good shit, anyway.

Backwoods

All I can say about this one is wow.... It's almost unbelievable to me that a movie with literally zero dollars spent on anything can get any sort of mass production. This film is in one of the Horror Movie 4 packs you can get at Best Buy, sam Goody & other places like that, but it looks like it was literally made with no budget! None! It's like they got a group of friends together, someone had a camcorder, they grabbed anything around the house that could be used as a prop and they were ready to go.

Bad doesn't even begin to describe the quality of this film, but at the same time... Being that I've acted in no budget horror before, I found myself somewhat entertained. They tried for a lot of jokes, some worked, some didn't. They didn't have the budget for any good onscreen gore, but they tried anyways. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this to anybody unless you, like me, are one of those people that love a horror movie that is so utterly terrible that it makes you laugh the whole time.

Because I sympathize with their budget, I am being lenient with their grade...

Jeff Bridges should have won best actor. Goodman, Buscemi & Turturro should have all been awarded best supporting actors. The Coen's should have won best director. Lebowski should have won best film & best scerenplay. The list goes on....

I did notice it has moved into #195 alltime on imdb.com's top 250 list though so it's starting to get the recognition it deserves.

Man there are some great lines in that film...

"Don't fuck with the Jesus."

"Old man said I could have any rug in the house..."

"You see what happens Larry? You see what happens? THIS is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass! Here's what happen's Larry!"

tarcher80 07-14-2006 05:36 AM

Fly II: I've seen this movie a few times on Sci-Fi late night and it looked like it had decent gore, so I got it on Netflix... No where near the first one w/ Jeff Goldbloom, but a couple on nice scenes: the face peel and the elevator crush. Other than that a mediocre movie...

hammerfan 07-14-2006 06:44 AM

Cabin Fever

The_Return 07-14-2006 08:22 AM

Watched Masters of Horror: Homecoming last night

The plot was really bizare, but I still enjoyed it. The anti-Bush propaganda started to get on my nerves, but it didnt ruin the film or anything. Definatly a very original zombie flick...

Then I statred to watch Rambo: First Blood Part 2, but I fell asleep around 20 minues into it. I'll give it another shot tonight maybe.

heebiejeebies 07-14-2006 08:35 AM

High Tension/Haute Tension

I liked everything about this movie (with the exception of a few gore scenes that looked a little too fake)...but the ending. The first time I saw it I was really disappointed, but now that I know the ending, I pay closer attention to certain scenes and notice things that got by me the first time. For me, this is one of the few movies that has actually improved with subsequent viewings.

Miss Olivia 07-14-2006 11:27 AM

I finally got my copy of Howard the Duck. It's still pretty entertaining, not nearly as much as when I was a little kid, but Jeffery Jones was still my favorite part.
"I am not Dr. Jennings anymore....now I am....something else..."
Pretty funny shit.

HOWARD THE DUCK RULES

Posher778 07-14-2006 12:42 PM

Reservoir dogs.

7/10

Its great, but a little slow. No action really, definently crime drama, but the last 10 minutes are great.

Mr. Blonde is my favorite. Love the torture scene.

ManchestrMorgue 07-14-2006 04:07 PM

Smokey and the Bandit

Cannonball Run

Haven't seen either of these films for a long time. Both very funny, however I think I prefer Smokey and the Bandit.

knife_fight 07-14-2006 04:08 PM

today before work I watched Shaun of the Dead. the last one I saw in the theatre was the pirates movie (which I personally gave a thumbs down).

Elvis_Christ 07-14-2006 04:14 PM

I watched the first disc of Gantz (first four episodes). Fuckin' cool apart from the shitty music. If you haven't checked this out yet and are fan of anime I recommend it!

Miss Olivia 07-14-2006 04:16 PM

LOL at first I thought you meant The Pirate Movie with Chris Atkins and Kristy McNichols.

Never heard of that one.

It's a musical fartfest that's making fun of the Pirates of Penzance.
