VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA

hammerfan 08-31-2020 04:45 AM

I'm re-watching The Walking Dead (currently on season 2) and Fear the Walking Dead (currently on season 3).

They're finally going to air the season 10 finale on October 4th. FTWD returns on October 11th.

Cobra Kai Season 1

Damn, this show is actually good!

It’s a clever spin on the first movie, it’s really funny and Zabka is just a delight. I want more of him and a little less of everybody else in season 2.

I was surprised by it too...an actual product of quality.
It's heartfelt, and feels right at home in the existing universe...the guy has realised he's made mistakes...and while it's taken years kind of wants to channel his energy into something good - and isn't Daniel an insufferable prick?
I do like that they're trying to resolve things to a point and shit just keeps happening...I actually really liked that one episode where they hung out together, they had good chemistry.

I've only seen maybe 2 episodes of the second series, but fully intend on seeing the rest...the netflix deal is going to get this show a lot more attention than the youtube red failure ever did. I'm glad. It deserves it.

It’s funny that you call it heartfelt because, although I agree, I found it really mean spirited. Everybody are total pricks at one time or another. Zabka most of all and at the same time you can’t help feeling sorry for him when he takes one beating after the other mentally. Daniel is not really an asshole he just has it all while Johnny is the bad apple who has always been down on his luck, or so it seems. But yea, I sure hope they end up as buddies.
Also the boyfriend/girlfriend issues aren’t as black and white this time as all 3 involved are actually likable characters. Doesn’t Johnny’s son remind you of Jonathan Brandis by the way?

Oh, and the soundtrack is aaaawsoooooome!

I liked the the first two eps I saw on youtube/red a million years ago. But I wasn't interested enough to subscribe. Didn't know it's on Netflix till now. Thx!

The Boys Season 2, episode 1, 2 & 3

Still lacks a really good story and I can’t stand the main hero. Homelander is carrying the entire show on his shoulders. He’s the Starr.

We are still watching THE AVENGERS, but nearing the end of the BW episodes

First episode of Ratched. Not sold yet. I'll give it a couple more episodes.

Had a compressed nerve in my back put me into a chair for a few days, but at least I finally go to watch "Star Trek: Picard"

I thought it was good. I look forward to seeing where they go with Season 2.

Thanks! I am slowly but surely. I've got 3 bulged discs and every now and then one of them pinches and sends every muscle in my back into spasm for a few days. I started getting steroid injections in my spine to try to get them to shrink but then Covid hit and I haven't been able to get any in the last several months. I'll hopefully start the process again soon.

I think it’s good. I like the pacing, it’s got interesting characters and an amazing color palette.

Well... the story gets more and more far out and ridiculous (and it was pretty far out to begin with). Still entertaining tho.

Does it feel like you're watching American Horror Story?

I haven’t seen American Horror Story since season 1, so I couldn’t tell you. But there’s no ghosts.

Angra 09-24-2020 01:58 PM

Ratched Season 1 7/10

Final verdict.

Entertaining from beginning to end, but the story just isn’t good enough for a second season.

I HAVE SPOKEN!

You should check out season 2 (Asylum) which is IMO as good as the show ever got, definitely better than season 1...too bad it all kind of goes a bit hit and miss after that...but yeah excellent twilight zone-y kind of feel to the second season, blending elements of horror and sci-fi.

We've been catching up (from the beginning) on this "Handmaids Tail" show.
It's....interesting.

Angra 09-24-2020 10:25 PM

Sure, I’ll give it a try.

Thank you.

2 episodes in.

In some weird way it reminds me of Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere.

4 episodes in.

Sadly it didn't turn into Neverwhere and Jessica Hyde is just the worst. SHE's the bad guy!::mad::

Also, I have no idea what's going on in this show. Something about the end of the world..??

hammerfan 09-29-2020 04:51 AM

Utopia, episode 2

Angra 09-30-2020 04:19 AM

Utopia (2020) Season 1 6/10

Nah, if the story had been a mix between Neverwhere and In the Mouth of Madness it would have been fantastic. But it's just a bunch of people trying to figure out what's going on in the world by analyzing a bunch of pages from a comic book. Didn't help that I didn't really care for either of the characters, except for Rainn Wilson maybe.

So all in all, not a terrible watch but it could have been so much better.

I liked this. I wasn't sure in the beginning but it turned out quite well for me.
I did watch the last two episodes twice. All in all I can watch another season of this.
Arby, Jon, is my favorite.
