So...assuming your taste doesn't completely suck, I have to say that this must've been a sequel or something?...and they fucked it up, huh?

It was a sequel and I thought it was no where near as good as Merlin, its a shame really, Ive got a lot of time for Sam Neill.

8.5/10 for this interesting British horror from the early 70's.

Bought this on DVD last year, always like to watch the 70's stuff to see if any gems are hidden away in amongst the rubbish. I liked this film but felt they could've done a little more with it. Why they couldn't have used a safer way to get the girls asphyx I dont know!

The Party - Sellers is soooo funny.

Godzilla: Final Wars - What if an Old School Godzilla movie were made today and was also influenced by movies such as Star Wars and Matrix? It was good though, a lot of fun. Don Frye is the man.

and

Kentucky Fried Movie - Some funny stuff and some not so funny. I like to watch this one every once in a while.

What an excellent movie. Hadn't seen it for a while, and then had the chance to see it again about a month ago. Still a very powerful film.

Aftermath

Very well made. Stark and clinical in its setting and composition, it just seems to flow along, with such a gradual and fluid progression from the routine to the perverse. Really made me feel uncomfortable towards the end.

Uh.... wait, why is it so amazing? Sure it's a classic, and in the dead trilogy, but it just doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I'd prefer the remake because it has more gore, etc. And no i'm not saying I hated it, but I just don't care that much for it. And not because it was black and white.

Rear Window [1954]

I've been trying to brush up on my Hitchcock lately, and this here is another classic from the master.

First off, Hitchcock really shows his genius as director in how the film is presented. Almost solely from the view of a wheelchair bound Jimmy Stewart, we watch the lives of the various characters unfold before his eyes.

Hitch plays with morality here, which I think was another high point of the film. Stewart's speech about ethics really emphasizes this point.

The acting is great, but with star power like this, that goes without saying. Grace Kelly is simply stunning, Stewart plays the everyman to perfection, Thelma Ritter is great comic relief, and the various residents of the apartments were great as well.

The plot is pretty straight-forward, but very well-written nonetheless. Great tension, lots of laughs, a cool ending...awesome. It did go on more than necessary in some places, but nothing major.

Put simply this is a great film, I really enjoyed it.

I just watched "Running Scared" and I loved it. The whole movie takes place in 18 hours and it grabs you by the balls and doesn't let go.
It reminded me to some extent of "After Hours"[ without the humour] or "Into The Night". Everything that could go wrong does. I wasn't to keen on

the happy hollywood ending.....but other than that, a fun ride.

Netherworld

Hmmm.... This wasn't the worst Full Moon film out there, but it's still far from being anything close to a good film. The plot doesn't make much sense but there were a few cool scenes of gore. The acting was pretty bad. I feel pretty secure in saying that you could skip this one and you wouldn't be missing out on much.

The Scorned

This is that movie all the reality stars were filming during the season of the show 'Kill Reality'. It was a bit more R-Rated than I was expecting, but for the most part it sucked. Johnny Fairplay has a few good one-liners and Ethan Zohn seemed like he might actually have an iota of acting ability, but other than those two, the cast sucked! One suprising thing though was that three or four of the reality star females got naked in this movie. All in all, the script was really weak & when you throw in a lot of terrible CGI mixed with primarily bad acting, you've got yourself one crappy movie. This movie would probably only appeal to the die-hard fans of reality television and thats about it.

Not sure how many out there have seen this japanese flick...but I m recommending it with all I got. Its another excellent asian offering into the world of horror. Nice and original story, and the special effects are really good. Complete entertainer, excellent value for money. I m gonna purchase it soon.

Wonderful flick. I own it. Have you tried Marronnier? Good flick made by the same director, although the subtitling on the version I got was horrid.

Let's just say "Fuck you Tarantino, for your fucked up, suspense drawn piece of shit sequel to a literally astonishing, amazing piece of art, that completely thrashed the original in all aspects."

That said, the acting was good, and the bitch got her eye pulled out. Hoofuckinray.

There's one fight scene that lasts 3 minutes, then just a bunch of talk for the ENTIRE 2 AND A HALF HOURS.

Ouch! This is, however, probably a good example of how people's tastes differ. Kill Bill v. 2 is not a sequel, by the way. Both movies are one film, and are cut into seperate parts due to the runtime being HUUUGE. Saying that, the two parts are very different films. One is action, the other is drama. Or some mix of that. You have to admit that both of the films are well done - whether you prefer one or the other. I guess you just really aren't a fan of slow-paced movies. Watch one after the other - and maybe you'll enjoy them more. I liked both parts equally, but leaned more toward part 2.

House of Wax [2005]

Though it doesn't even come close to the fantastic original, in all honesty this wasn't an awful film. Sure, it has flaws, but it's still fairly enjoyable.

First off, I have to applaud the filmmakers for dropping Vincent Price's character. It was one of Price's best roles and it would have been a shame to see it slaughtered.

I quite enjoyed the twist that they put on the original plot, the numerous nods it made to the original were, for the most part, subtle and well-done. The twists are all really obvious and nothing is very original, but it still makes for a decent enough story.

The main downfalls of the film are the actors and the script. The cast is pure eye-candy for both sexes, including the talentless queen of eye-candy "actresses", Paris Hilton. The bad guys were sufficiently over-the-top, but really how hard could it be to play the kind of evil hillbilly that we've seen in half of the slasher movies since Texas Chainsaw? As for the script, we have a few gems like "It is wax, like... literally" and "He looks like Elton John, only gayer". Wow. I think those lines really speak for themselves as far as how well-written the script is.

All in all, this is a decent modern day slasher that really doesn't deliver anything new. It has a decent plot, good effects and some fun deaths, but ultimately the poor acting, awful writing and lack of originality really bring it down. It's worth a watch though, I enjoyed it.

The original is a completly different, but much better film. Parts of it are really cheesy though...it was made in 3-D, so there are alot of pointless things flying aat the screen. Aside from that, it's one of my favourite movies. Great performance from Vincent Price, cool effects for the time, and even an amusing early appearance by Charles Bronson:D.

On top of that, Im not sure if it's the same in whatever region you inhabit, but the Region 1 DVD also has Mystery of the Wax Museum, the film witch the Price version is a remake of. Ive actually never watched it the whole way through, but the first half hour or so is almost identical.

Mortal Kombat

I've always been a big fan of the Mortal Kombat games, and while this might not be the greatest movie, it captures the feel of the games perfectly.

Let me start off by saying that, like in 90% of movies based on video games, the actors and writing are awful. Robin Shou is particularly bad, however his sarcastic banter with Johnny Cage (Linden Ashby) is pretty amusing. For the most part though, the guy really needs to stick to martial arts. Christopher Lambert has a few decent moments as Raiden, but his character is wasted and underused. The script delivers a few cheesy laughs, but that's about it. When it tries to be serious, it falls flat on it's face.

The effects are hit-and-miss. Some of them are great, mostly the ones involving Shang Tsung (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa). A lot of the CGI was very poorly done, and the anamatronic Goro wasn't a whole lot better.

The plot was pretty contrived, but what can you expect from a video game movie? It wasn't anything spectacular or overly original, but it kept my interest. However the massive plot hole that they call an ending really bugs me. Sure, it leaves it open for the sequel, but it just doesn't make sense! Despite it's flaws, this is a fairly enjoyable action movie that's worth seeing at least once or twice. However the flaws are plenty, so it's rating isn't as high as it could have been.

Mortal Kombat came out when I was a teenager, so naturally I have a soft spot for it. The theme song was really popular when it came out where I grew up.

I just watched a Troma video called The Class of Nuke Em High...I really liked it. It's naturally low budget and cheesy, but those kind of flicks sometimes entertain me more than the expensive Hollywood movies they put out there. I think I'll probably buy it.
