Summer Of Blood. Not bad but it emphasises the comedy more than the horror.
I saw this movie on Starry Eyes' dvd and it looked intresting. What made me give it a go was it had Melodie Sisk in it, who I was in a movie with. |

Wes Craven's New Nightmare.
My third favorite in the Elm St series. |

As someone who's not a big fan of the NoES series, I liked New Nightmare. Course I watched it for the first time in tribute of Wes Craven's death, so it was a lot more bitter sweet watching it with that in mind. There were a lot dumb moments (climbing a fence when you have a car right there to drive through it, HELLO?!), but with NoES you kind of expect that, and it was still a fun watch.

Atomic Blonde (2017)
Spy movie with incredible action, great music and an impressive performance from Charlize Theron. The plot is a little thin and difficult to follow, but what spy movie isn't? 7/10 |

THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE (1992). Pretty dumb, but entertaining melodrama with luscious Rebecca DeMornay standing out as a vengeful deceitful She Devil, with good support from Ernie Hudson and early Julianne Moore. Annabella Sciorra-who has been very good in other films-and Matt McCoy are probably the blandest dullest couple in Screen History. ***

"Dunkirk" 7/10
Entertaining, but frankly, I wish I gave a damn. |

I don't mind a little revised history if it means some of the soldiers will be beautiful dames. Preferably in bikinis! Bikinis would be good and they could be camouflage, which would only add to the authenticity. Yeah...big problem with war movies. The lack of broads. ::wink:: |

Annabelle: Creation (2017)
The best movie in the franchise since the original Conjuring, and it's surprisingly the most brutal. Creation has some really great connections to all the other films in the franchise and sets up one of the future movies. |

Date Movie (2006).
It does a pretty good job if you're just looking for some entertainment.... not as funny as I thought it'd be though..... |
Silent Hill: Revelation
Now THIS is what I expected from the FIRST movie. (In case anyone didn't see my post after watching the first movie on HDC's Facebook group from when the site was down, I thought it was shit.) Mostly for that final battle though, which was so damn boss, I think I eyegasmed watching it. I didn't care for it at first, there were some cliche horror movie stupid decisions, but it got better as it went on. By time our main character gets to Silent Hill, I had completely forgotten my complaints. https://media.giphy.com/media/AV8b540FX3JMQ/200.gif |
Perished is a pretty good short film because it does not stretch it's ideas too long. It says what it has to say and then it's done.
Not much mind blowing stuff, though it does succeed in illustrating the isolation one can get into during the zombie apocalypse, not to mention the every man for himself-feeling. |
Evil Dead
Here we go. THE REMAKE. Christ, this is sad. There's soooo much subplot with the main characters who are siblings and backstory we don't know or give a shit about cause we all know everyone's going to die anyway. It just takes away from the story and makes the other characters look like assholes when really they're all just fucking awful. The only thing going for it is the effects, which are nice and bloody. I of course vote for the original on which is better, but blood effects in it were not the most convincing. But then again the original didn't have pointless animal death, so fuck this movie. And as always, if you find a book wrapped in black plastic and bound tight with barbwire like a birthday present to Satan, DON'T. FUCKING. OPEN IT. |

The Avengers
Thor: The Dark World |
GRUMPIER OLD MEN (1995). Much like GRUMPY OLD MEN (1993), this has a great cast and truly funny moments, but too much padding slows things way down. **1/2

Carnage Park: It started off really good and thought it was thrilling. The ending disappointed me though and didn't fill in that much. Lots of lose ends and not much of a surprise. I'll rate it as B.
It was good, but not fantastic. |
"The Dark Tower"
-Idris Elba Plot: IMDB Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), the last Gunslinger, is locked in an eternal battle with Walter O'Dim (Matthew McConaughey), also known as the Man in Black. The Gunslinger must prevent the Man in Black from toppling the Dark Tower, the key that holds the universe together. With the fate of worlds at stake, two men collide in the ultimate battle between good and evil. Phantom's Review: If your a Stephen King fan, a "Purist" of his work, then I highly recommend that you skip this film, save yourself the headache. If you have never read the books or your the type of fan who just accepts the fact that Hollywood will rarely ever do King right, then maybe you'll get some enjoyment out of this short (95 minutes) , somewhat standard Hollywood film. For me, the film was a disappointment. I enjoyed 'The Dark Tower' novels and was looking forward to seeing them on the big screen, but this is definitely not was I was hoping for. The filmmakers took bits and pieces from a massive 8 volume series, threw most of the books away and put together this hodge podge sci-fi western. Idris Elba does his best as 'Roland, The Last Gunslinger' but he doesn't have a whole lot to work with. Mathew McConaughey fares slightly better as the villain 'Walter, The Man In Black' , but again there is just not a whole lot to work from. Overall, a huge disappointment. |
OFFICIAL DENIAL 1994
Even my "contemporary" films are old, lol. A man whose life has been turned upside down when he tries to convince people he was abducted by aliens, is finally vindicated when he's proven right. Pretty sure this was probably a made for TV movie but it was alright. |

THE HAUNTING 1991
A movie based on the haunting of the Smurl Family in the 1980's. It was investigated by Ed and Lorraine Warren and I think may be featured in The Conjuring 3. It was good. Some good chills. |
