Reeker

This pours out the stylish direction, photography, set pieces and effects. If it wasn't a high budget film, it sure as hell looked like one. Love all the characters, or well - Gretchen and Jack, mainly. They were pretty damn cool. The film felt like Identity a lot, so some might think of it as a rip-off, and I can definately see where they got that idea. It's VERY CLOSE.

I was genuinely creeped out during it in some parts - and I admit to pausing and checking around the room, lol. The film moved quickly, and never got too boring.

However, the twist was sort of built up - and it wasn't too exciting, IMO. I'm sick and tired of that sort of twist being used too. So, what is it? Stay, November, a few others... now this? Come on people, I got tired of it the second time it was used. Copying something else.

Overall: A stylish little film, ripped off a few things... ok, a LOT, had cool characters, witty writing, good humour without being COMEDIC. Yeah, it's possible.

Watched Pride and Prejudice (Keira Knightly version) better than I thought it was going to be but Mr Darcy was a bit of a wimp in it (Colin Firth is and always will be Mr Darcy) so 6 out of 10

Corpse Bride rather liked it but nowhere as good as nightmare before Christmas so 7 out of 10

American Movie (1999)

a documentory (which turned out to be true !) about a low budget wannabe filmmaker who is trying to get his first film made (and the short film he's struggling to finish in order to finance his first film)

this one has to be seen to be believed.

very funny and also kind of sad (just like the box says)

pretty much everyone in the film is nuts.

Post Impact and Epicenter. Two SciFi channel movies. Dean Cain wasn't too bad in impact.

One of my favorite movies of all time. The acid in the hospital story is brilliant.

On a side note, the main character Mark has a cameo role in "The One" with Jet Li... just watched it a couple days ago and I flipped out.

i dont mind that film ...

you can see him stretchung a bit for the drama, it was interesting to see buffalo bill in a 'speaking villian' role, and ms. arquette has the best breasts in hollywood. always thought it was one of van damm's better roles.

urgeok 05-28-2006 01:52 PM

X-3

well, it wasnt great, it wasnt bad.
It propelled the story of the x-men along ok but never made you feel 'wow'

it was like the 3rd harry potter film ... it wont kill the franchise but i was hoping for more.

Halloween 2? Alright, but not as well done as the original, and part 3??? What the hell was that about? How do you get a bigass snake to come out of a hollow mask? and then "Stonegenge"... The director was on acid.

Last movie seen, final destination 2, A f%^#g great sequel. Can't wait for part 3.

Reservoir Dogs

A personal favorite, and, IMO, bounds ahead of Pulp Fiction, which I also loved. Those are Tarintino's two worthwhile films, but Reservoir Dogs is a bit more fun.

Wayne's World

This is a 90s comedy classic & I have a feeling it'll stand the test of time. It's pretty consistently funny throughout some fun cameos from folks like Chris Farley, Meat Loaf, Alice Cooper & Ed O'Neill and good performances from Rob Lowe, Mike Myers & Dana Carvey. My one major gripe with this film is that Tia Carrere SUCKS! She can't act. She can't sing & furthermore she cant even fake like shes singing well. It's obvious she didn't have a clue about how to play guitar and all in all, I really thought her utter crappiness brought the film down quite a bit.

C+

Nightbreed....this should be remade,Cabal was a helluva good story and this film just does'nt cut it.

Clive's due for another film by my calculations, and while he's at it a Rawhead Rex redux would be nice aswell.

Two worthwhile films?

Kill Bill? Jackie Brown? True Romance? From Dusk Til Dawn? Natural Born Killers? Curdled? (He wrote, but didn't direct the last 4.) 4 Rooms? Sin City? (He directed portions of these 2.)

I don't know.... If you've seen all of those and still think Pulp & Reservoir are his only 2 worthwhile films I might have to question your taste in film. Everything the guy has worked on has been nothing short of awesome.

QT is easily the most consistent filmmaker in Hollywood as far as I'm concerned. He's like the Dr. Dre of the film industry because I know anything he has his hands in is gonna be great before I even see it.
