I don't rent movies, I only buy, and The Fog is right up there next to Breeders as one of my greatest screwup buys.....however Breeders still holds the title for most retarded ever, beating out even Metamorphosis:the Alien Factor.

Let's have it right, are you talking about the remake(The Fog) or original?

Miss Olivia 05-13-2006 11:59 PM

The remake....I liked the original.

I couldnt care less about his new baby, or what he did on Oprah, or what he believes in...if I had my way I wouldnt even know about it. Gets on my nerves.

That's not his fault, I'm pretty sure he's not that crazy about being stalked everyday of his life. As far as what he himself talks about, well he has to go on talk shows, SNL and other places to promote his films and all he does is answer the questions they ask. So it's the majority of the public who watch 'Entertainment Tonight', 'The Soup' and other shows of the same type just to find out shit like who Hilary Duff went out with this week are to blame, not him. Now if you think he can't act or his movies are shitty that's one thing but to not see a movie because of a participant's personal life that's been pryed into unwillingly more often than not makes no sense to me what so ever. Russell Crowe is in the news from time to time mostly because of his temper but I don't give a fuck, he was in Gladiator, L.A. Confidential, A Beautiful Mind ect. So I'm going to keep watching his movies regardless of the bullshit that has nothing to do with me.

just finished seeing Inferno made by Argento...

before that Sweet Sixteen...interesting story, decent body count, average kills, but a tad slow and dull movie...

I prefer the Lundgren version. I did enjoy the 2004 version but felt the original film was a better interpretation of the comic. The 2004 Frank Castle is a bit too romantic and senstive for my liking.

dark thoughts 05-14-2006 07:20 AM

Good thing to know. Maybe I'll rent it or look for it on serious sale. After all Frank Castle is the Punisher no Casanova.

persuasian70 05-14-2006 03:35 PM

Dolph Lundgren was one of the worst casting decisions ever in a movie. It was like having Don Knotts play the Godfather instead of brando. The new Punisher movie is so much better than the old one. Back then. none of the Marvel comic book movies were any good.

AnnieMiller 05-14-2006 03:38 PM

LA Confidential is one of the best films I've seen with excellent acting by Russell Crowe. He definitely stole the show.

Although on a completely different theme is co-star (another aussie) Guy Pearce was completely hilarious in The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Dessert. Worth watching.

Flightplan

This movie could be renamed "Quickchange". Not only does it fit with parts of the plot, it fits with a lot of things. First off, it fits with Jodie Foster's acting. She starts off calm, cool and happy...then before you can say "lost kid" she goes completely insane. No slow descent into panic, she's there right off the start and doesn't let up until the end. Another way that "Quickchange" could apply is to how fast the film pulls itself out of the gutter. The first hour and ten minutes or so are awful, full of idiotic characters, poor acting, obvious twists and even a couple plot holes. All of a sudden however, things start to change. A twist is introduced that actually makes sense and that I actually didn't see coming. The acting becomes at least bearable, Foster tones herself down quite a bit, thankfully. All in all, this isn't a bad movie. It really picks up near the end, don't give up too fast!

7/10

PS - Was anyone else reminded of The Lady Vanishes? Much better film, but this reminded me of it in parts.

No way. The Punisher was one of the better late 80s action/revenge flicks. Its a underated classic in my opinion. I dug how it had a really sadistic female villian. I was a big fan of action flicks in the 80s and this is still one I enjoy watching.

I just rewatched Crumb. I've been checkin' out documentries latley and this is still one of my favorites.

Loved Dolph as The Punisher, didn't think it was a poor choice at all.

It Happened at Nightmare Inn

Oh man. This particular horror movie 4 pack (Hell in the Family) stinks! So far, the three films I've watched from it have all been terrible! And not "good" or "funny" terrible either, just terrible terrible. This one was no exception although the plot was slightly better than the first two (It's almost laughable that this plot could be better than anything, but it is.) No gore, bad acting, pretty lame plot....

_____V_____ 05-15-2006 01:56 AM

Poseidon...

The movie has more than decent effects but the original had better performances, esp from Gene Hackman. If you loved the original, its worth a look, just for the effects and the deaths.

High points - Deaths and Gore, Direction, Effects.
Low points - Performances, Old story rehashed, Pales in comparison to the original, Repeated Sequences, Predictable.

Rating - 06/10

Yellow Jacket 05-15-2006 08:49 AM

Single White Female- 0/5

Horrible! No good performances (Bridget Fonda's weakest performance), the appearance of Steven Weber almost made me puke my guts out (almost), and the story was boring, repetitive, and slow. I still don't see how this got a sequel. Well, the sequel was direct-to-video. So, I guess I feel a little bit better. Just a little bit better.

Watched it last week - absolutely fantastic - have to admit I was a bit dubious about the whole movie being CGI but the quality was scary it was so good.

Ripper: Letter from Hell- 1/5

Aside from a few good kills (the wood chipper being my favorite) and Ali Larter's performance, this was a bore from beginning to end. The camera kept shaking, the lighting was off (too dark for me to see at times), and some bad directing (I couldn't see a damn thing thanks to the haywire camera angles) almost drove me insane. This must be how they torture damned souls in the fiery pits of hell. They just show them these piles of shit!

Sick_As_Fuck 05-16-2006 05:02 PM

King Kong [2005]

It was alright. I expected a lot more due to how many rave reviews it received. Also, it seemed like there were too many parts where I was just like "yeah, right". Ah well. I'd give it a 3.5/5.

Posher778 05-16-2006 05:25 PM

Just Friends> Pretty funny at times

"Chris! Chris! Chris!"

I'M BUSY!!!

(sitting lazily)"I'M BUSY! YOU STUPID DICK!"

Uh, you had to be there...

And, The Family Stone 6.5/10

It was not as good as i hoped, but very sad...

Hmmm.... This was okay as far as kids movies go, but I really didn't see much point to it. I kept trying to tell myself that there doesn't need to be much point to a kids movie, but the plot just seemed stupid... even for kids. It's really too bad too because with all the talented actors they had doing voices (Chevy Chase, Jon Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg, William H. Macy, Jimmy Fallon), this movie should have been a lot better than it was and it also should have done a lot better in the theatres than it did. But the plot was very poor and the film flopped. Now I know why.

History Of Violence

Again...this was just alright. I saw people listing this as the best non-horror film of 2005 so I had big expactations. There were a few cool kill scenes but that's about it. The plot was hella short and it felt like the whole movie was only like 45 minutes long. Anyways, I'd give it a solid 3/5 rating.

You're telling me that you went into a movie about a film crew going to an uncharted island, inhabited by an undiscovered culture and a 25 foot ape who's captured and taken back to New York for show only to escape and tear through the city looking for a girl who he finds, proceeds to climb the empire state building from which he is eventually shot down from expecting realism?

If you're unable(or unwilling) to suspend your belief, you're gonna miss out on alot of great film experiences.

The plot was short which is what I LOVED about the movie. It told a story from start to finish with little bs inbetween. Short, to the point, and VERY well done. I loved this one because of the brevity, I'm tired of 2 hour movies that don't NEED to be 2 hours long.
