Intruder
Great slasher film, lots of fun, I'm thinking of picking this one up because I'll probably want to see it again down the road but maybe it's just one of those multiple rentals. As far as ripping off movies or being influenced by them, humans have been around so long that original thought is dead. 99% of everything you think of or see has probably already been thought of and either kept to the originator of the idea or acted upon in some way. Just enjoy, if it's good who cares if somebody did it in another way another time? If it isn't good... don't watch it again or turn it off. I don't condone blatant ripping off of Koontz novels for your movie without any kind of recognition but I think with other ideas to see and work with greater things are created eventually. |
Trucks (1997, science fiction) 2/10...dreadful...it's obvious Trucks just sucks.

When A Stranger Calls (original)
Well, this was decent, but not great. Also, it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. There wasn't too much gore, but the acting was good. The story was alright and the direction was fine. I'm sure it was scary when it came out, but it's not any more. C+ Puff, Puff, Pass I never had heard of this movie but noticed it on Netflix and being a smoker, I couldn't resist checking it out. It has Danny Masterson (Hyde from That 70s Show), Mekhi Phifer and a few cameos by folks like Seth Green and Darryl Hammond (Actually, his role is more than a cameo.) Anyways, I wasn't really expecting much from it so I wasn't let down, but I wasn't exactly pleasently surprised either. It was okay, but not great. There were some parts that were funny, but on the whole this movie lacked humor. It was well acted and kept a pretty good pace though. I wasn't bored with it, I just wasn't thuroughly entertained either. C |
The Evil Dead
Haven't seen this one in a while - not since it first came out on VHS. I actually enjoyed it a whole lot. Great with a few beers.:) |

An American Haunting.
Was real excited to see this. So I went to the theatre. It has great sound effects and lots of great "spookhouse" action, with stuff jumping out at you. Not very subtle with its visuals, most of the time. But if you like spook rides and cheesy scares, this has a lot of that. I recommend seeing it in a theatre with a bitchin' sound system. It is not, unfortunately, a good story with interesting characters. I thought it was going to be, but I think it is a "take it as what it is" movie. If you love loud noises, noises crawling around the theatre in 3D sound, and stuff jumping out at you suddenly, this is your ticket. Oh yeah: the distinctive howl of the American Werewolf In London makes a special guest appearance at one point. But if you recognize it, then that means you're old. |
Saw the 40 year old virgin. i thought the first half was hilarious, but the other half was stupid and sentimental.
then i saw wedding chrashers. dont see the big deal...not funny at all. than i watced lethal weapon. nothing is better than a suicidal mel gibson with a mullet.... |

Yes. Or hearing screams from Hammer films in the "Lord of the Rings" movies. Time for that youth potion, Methuselah!

Who Framed Roger Rabbit
When I'm not feeling great, there's nothing Id rather do than sit back with a nice cold can of Coke and good, light comedy. Let me tell you folks, it doesn't get much better than this. A classic in the truest sense of the word. Bob Hoskins makes for a great private eye, easily one of the best roles I've seen him in. I always like to see Christopher Lloyd as a villain, and here he's at his over-the-top maniacal best. Of course, how could I not mention the effects? The toons fit seamlessly into the "real world", and Hoskins fits just as perfectly in Toon Town. Speaking of Toon Town, that is easily one of the best parts of the movie, filled with classic cameos, great effects, and hilarious gags. Overall this is one of the funniest movies you'll ever see as well as pure movie magic all-around. 9.5/10 |
Return of the Invisible Man (1940)
Decent sequel to an amazing movie. Vincent Price was excellent, coming near, but not quite touching, Claude Rains' performance in the first. The last 30 minutes are superb. P.S. There's an ad at the top of the page that says "Look Sexy Naked". Hehe. |
this is a shity movie

Francis Ford Coppola's The Outsiders. Aside from the soundtrack with sticky warblings by Stevie Wonder, it's a classic. Actually, I guess the soundtrack is classic too but it makes me a little nauseous......

That's my biggest pet peeve. When people won't watch movies or automatically think they suck because they're in black and white or made before the year 1980...I wan't to kick them in the face. |
Someone's either had too many Coca Cola's or too much crystal meth... hard to tell.... the DUH factor is astronomical.....

Deathwatch
I'm usually not a big fan of war movies, but this is the second war-themed horror film that I've watched recently, and I've really enjoyed both. The other was The Bunker, and Id say this was slightly better. The plot isn't anything overly original, about a company of soldiers that stumble across an abandoned German trench, but it's pulled off very well. The director does a great job creating atmosphere, the perpetual rain and mud in the claustrophobic trenches make for some pretty creepy scenes. The entire cast does a good job, especially Andy Serkis of Gollem fame and Jamie Bell from Billy Elliot. They lead a very talented ensemble cast, all of whom play their characters to perfection. In films like this the characters often blend together, but not here thanks to the above-average performances. It has the kind of ending where you think you know what's going to happen, then you're slapped upside the head with something totally different. It seems pretty obvious after watching it, but I guarantee you that you wont see the ending coming. This film shares it's one major downfall with many war movies: It's brutally slow pacing. There are scenes that seem to go on forever, especially near the first. Otherwise, this is a very well made and creepy film that I highly recommend. 8/10 |
