Cool. The title itself sounds good.

THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES (1968). Two part BBC episodes of the famous story, despite Peter Cushing on board, is ultimately a washout. Scenes that really aren't important to the story are dragged out and ends quite abruptly with several factors still unanswered.
Watch the 1959 Hammer version instead.

I'm watching Channel Zero Season 3. I should be finished by next week and post a short review.

"The Hollow".
Animated series on netflix blending comedy with elements of LOST, cube, Gravity Falls. I'm not quite loving it as much as I did Final Space, but it's quite good - Check it out if you have netflix.

Channel Zero: Butcher's Block -

As with all of these so far, the first episode is the best. However with this season, I liked the setup the least of all of them so far. And because of that I was glad when I finished the season. These seasons are only six episodes and unlike the previous two, I watched one of these per day. Previously, I would watch one a week when they were released. I will say a slight spoiler in that if you ever thought small people couldn't be threatening, the opening of the first episode will change your mind. But other than that, like the other two seasons, it just kind of gets boring with the later episodes.

Superstition Episode 1 -

I've had this show on my list for a while and thought I would watch just the first episode and that would be it. However, even though the show is kind of iffy with the dialog and production in parts. It does feel kind of like an off shoot of Supernatural. And there are enough twists that I'll watch to see how it turns out.

I.M.D.B.
In 1848, two real life warships, HMS Terror and HMS Erebus, sent on a Royal Naval expedition to find the treacherous Northwest Passage become trapped in ice near Arctic and face starvation, mutiny, cannibalism and a demonic polar bear.

Watch it. One of the best shows I've ever watched. Fantastic production, superb acting, great writing, interesting characters, suspenseful, powerful...with moments that genuinely stayed with me for several days. And it had an ending. 10 episodes and it was finished - no risk of it dragging on for years. Loved it.
10/10

Great show, amazing re-imagining of Prisoner...solid acting all around. Genuine scenes from "nothing" to emotional, to scary. Well rounded characters. I'm waiting for someone as repugnant as Jax to come along again (when the show was admittedly at it's best, first couple of seasons), but it still manages to retain interest, and you really do feel for...most of...the characters.
I don't think this season is off to a stellar start, though still very watchable.
I can't wait for the twists and turns when it comes to the repercussions of what happened at the end of last season, eh?

cheebacheeba 07-04-2018 04:43 AM

Episode 1 of Marvels "Cloak & Dagger".
What a strange couple of characters to have got their own show...I mean at their height of popularity (I'd say the mid 80's?) I wasn't yet reading comics, they made some appearances later down the line but yknow...how every character they're more or less done with makes the occasional appearance...I always thought they were kind of more interesting characters, even enough to kind of get past their wonder twins type shtick.

Look I actually thought it was ok.
Out of the Marvel "little" shows I've seen, legion, the gifted (which I really wanted to like with it's roster of characters being what it was...but, nope), inhumans and the Runaways, is stands with the Runaways as those that have kept me interested past episode 1.
I kind of feel like it might get cancelled though? I dunno...this is just a money grab right? Side stringer, now all but irrelevant characters just to see if the big M can sell it? Like I said though, seems ok to me. Not sure how true to the origins of the characters it is, like I said, before my comics time. I kind of like it because it's weird. Strange characters that were commonplace in comics of that era...I find it weird this show exists. Though I am not unfond of it.

Effects are ok.
Cast is whatever.
Doesn't seem to be overly reliant on in-jokes and references which to the unfamiliar a plus.
No villain or major threat has yet presented themselves so not sure where I land on that - I suppose they at least gave the whole episode as the origin story and kept it fairly tidy.
There's not much to say so far. It's an alright origin story, and it kept my interest enough, which is more not than often for a Marvel show.
Check it out if you like this kind've thing.

Colony -

It got a surprise cancellation and ended on a cliffhanger. But the show was pretty good. Maybe they can finish the story in a comic or something.

Damn, I saw ep 1 a while ago...had been downloading it...guess I won't be watching that any more.

I remember back when SyFy used to be an OK channel. They had Thriller Thursday where they showed GOOD horror movies and they used to have great shows like Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Scare Tactics (before Scare Tactics got stupid). They also did reruns of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits and it was through that channel that I saw The Return of Mothra movies.

Good times... but now they show crap like Sharknado. ::sad::

It seems like when they went from SciFi to SyFy, they went straight down the toilet.

If you were in Season 2 of Colony I would say continue. But just starting, no. Unless they make a comic or book there isn't a good reason to start watching the show with that cliffhanger ending.

Disenchantment - Episode 1.
Hm, you can tell netflix threw a few bucks at MG for this...looks Simpson-esque but there's definitely a bit more funding in the animation going on here.
I liked it more than I thought I would...and it's both nice and kind of strange seeing a more adult oriented show, while it wasn't deliberately over the top and on the nose like McFarlanes work.
It's a funny show, and I liked it. Not so adult that a kid can't watch it - River enjoyed the hell out of it.

Wentworth, last two episodes and only one more to go.

Not as brutal as previous seasons but still great nonetheless.

I do love the storyline with Mr Jackson, Jake and Vera. I wonder what is gonna happen.
