Doctor Strange

The most visually stunning movie i've ever seen. Besides that, it's got a great story especially for an origin movie and Benedict Cumberbatch does an excellent job in the title role. Definitely one of Marvel's best films, if not their best.

9/10

Flanagan on Wan's territory...and he did it good!

Hope to see this in coming weekend! ::cool::

NOTHING BUT TROUBLE (1991). Truly awful film directed by Dan Akroyd with Chevy Chase, Demi Moore and John Candy (the only decent part of this). Avoid at all costs. 1/2

War Dogs (2016)
B-
Bit predictable but entertaining enough. And informative.
Bradley Cooper had a small role but it might have been one of his best yet.

Boogie Nights (1997)
A
Seen it several times. Still a solid movie with some great performances.

Krampus - I liked it, definitely good to see a Christmas horror film

Oh good, I thought I was the only one that liked it!

ImmortalSlasher 11-09-2016 05:33 PM

I liked Krampus too. I thought I posted a review.

scouse mac 11-09-2016 06:40 PM

Cub (aka Welp) - A boy scout group go camping in the woods and one in particular believes he has met a local legend, Kai, a sort of werewolf boy (ish). There is, however, more things in the woods to be afraid of...

I saw one review describe this as Friday the 13th meets Lord of the Flies which isn't too bad a comparison in many ways. Its set in Belgium and is spoken almost entirely in Flemish (I think).
Its a good film with some decent performances, although I doubt its the sort of film you'd bother watching a second time.

Indeed! I think Dead Silence is one the top 5 horror films since 2000. It's the first film to scare me in something like a couple decades. It has it weak points, but I think it totally delivers the good horror.

Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016)
I.M.D.B.
In 1965 Los Angeles, a widowed mother and her two daughters add a new stunt to bolster their seance scam business and unwittingly invite authentic evil into their home. When the youngest daughter is overtaken by a merciless spirit, the family confronts unthinkable fears to save her and send her possessor back to the other side.

Entertaining, but it fails to be scary. Very little tension, dread, or scares.

The Comedian's Guide to Survival (2016)
I.M.D.B.
One man's journey around the world to discover the secret of comedy.

Amusing, but not very funny. James Buckley's good in the main role, carrying the movie. But it needs more jokes.

Fear, Inc. (2016)
I.M.D.B.
A horror junkie and his friends sign up with a company that brings their customer's greatest fears to life.

Entertaining, but it makes no sense. So many plot holes. Enjoyable late night movie, just try not to think about it - which is difficult, because it encourages you to do so the whole way through.
6.5/10

No. It's more people vs creatures.
Black Mountain Side is more similar to The Thing. Wasn't that good but worth watching if you like icy/snowy horror.

Good horror indeed. Gave me the heebie jeebies.

Decent police/hooligan flick. Not great, but ok and certainly not as bad as I expected. Ofcourse it doesn't come close to the original which is probably the best hooligan movie ever made.

Doctor Strange

Really liked it. I thought Benedict Cumberbatch was a perfect choice for Strange. Actually, I loved the entire cast.

It's about a trio of filmmakers searching for a thought to be lost slasher film with a reputation for being truly horrifying. It's a good but not great movie.I like it enough to watch it every few years.

Watched the found footage horror movie Mr Jones a few days ago.

Completely took me by surprise. A film that I'm pretty sure has a deeper meaning about peoples relationship with technology.
Creepy, weird, confusing but fascinating.

More than your average found footage horror flick! http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...kutWBcP45t0dG5

Slim pickings, ey?
The Football Factory, The Firm remake and Rise Of The Footsoldier. That's it imo.
Green Street is just Hollywood nonsense.
Supposed to be a Swedish series called Eternally Faithful (För Evigt Trogen).
There's a trailer but I'm not sure the series got made (yet?).

I watched Mr. Jones on Netflix some months ago and thought it was great. Loved the scarecrows and didn't see the ending coming but loved it. I recommend it if you enjoy found footage films.

THE DEAD ROOM 2015

Three ghosthunters set about to find out why a young family fled their New Zealand farmhouse in terror. Very efficient, no boy ghosthunter/girl ghosthunter drama and no one was particularly good-looking. Nice plot.

Captain Fantastic (2016)

https://s14.postimg.org/ei6e07qz5/captain_fantastic.jpg

Set against the beautiful Pacific Northwest backdrop, Captain Fantastic is the remarkable tale of Ben, a devoted father who's raising his six kids with a rigorous physical and intellectual education - forced to leave his paradise and enter the real world when the wife dies...

Brilliant! The best movie of 2016 so far along with HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE, IMO and surely it'll be noted as one of the best performances of Viggo Mortensen in coming days. Beautifully moving. Highly recommended!

Doctor Strange (2016)

https://s17.postimg.org/3n6siixrj/Doc_Strnge.jpg

James Wan for DC's AQUAMAN flick, Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) for THOR: Ragnarok and now Scott Derrickson (Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver us from Evil & Sinister) for this...Hollywood's eye on contemporary horror movie directors for their big budget superhero flicks is interesting. For both genre, this is a good thing, I guess.

Was that the one where Christopher Walken says "I'm able to defecate now"? Or was that another vampire film?

And now you can enjoy the Ash Vs Evil Dead series which is basically a sequel in series format that's just as good.

Btw, the movie has two different endings. Both quite alright.
