Silent Hill- 1/5

I have never played any of the Silent Hill video games. I have seen the previews for them multiple times, but never got around to playing them (and I doubt I ever will). And, after seeing this movie, I can tell you one thing. It is nothing like the video game. It's pretty sad that when somebody who hasn't played any of the games can tell that you slacked off in the game-to-movie plot. Silent Hill, in my opinion, had to of been one of the easier video games to make into a movie. But, the writers of the script and director couldn't get it right. The plot was dull, slow-moving, boorish, bad acting, and a very disappointing ending. The only recommendations I can give for this movie is that the creatures looked great (when they appeared) and the score was eerie and fit well. But, that's about it.

Rented Halloween 5. I saw it a while ago... but don't remember much. Is it better than 4?

I just saw "Cry Wolf" for the first time. Although it was better than what I was expecting, it was still just meh.

Mean Creek

This was sort of a Stand by Me ripoff starring one of the Culkin kids. It was a dark little tale of asome kids getting revenge on the class bully. It was alright, but nothing spectacular or groundbreaking.

Fun with Dick and Jane

I didn't know what to expect out of this film so I wasn't really disappointed, although I don't think it was anywhere near as funny as some of Jim Carrey's earlier work. It had it's really funny moments, but also seemed to drag quite a bit.

C+

Grandma's Boy

Well, if this isn't the epitome of teenage male humor, I don't know what is. Pot, sex and fart jokes for a good hour and half. It's got all the jokes of an Adam Sandler movie, minus the Adam Sandler. There are lots of other fun cameos though and all in all it was a little funnier than I was expecting...

C+

The Manson Family. A bit trippy in parts but pretty accurate made all the worse by it being true. 7/10

Martin 9/10

I really enjoyed this movie and I think it's my favorite vampire movie. Martin is not your run of the mill vampire, he's more like a conscientious drug addict. This film totally abandons traditional vampire lore, Martin uses hyperdermic needles to put his victims to sleep and then razorblades to drain them. He stays with his overzealous christian cousin who really believes in the whole crosses, garlic and sunlight deal which drives Martin crazy. Solid movie through and through, I thought the ending was also well done.

Urgeok recommended it to me, and I thank him :D

That's a dumb ass statement... It makes a lot of people look down on you for referring to a movie you didn't like as "gay"..... how old are you? 13?

Bride of Frankenstein (1935)- 9.5/10

A nearly flawless classic, and the only sequel in all of Universal's classic monster legacys to absolutely out-do its predecessor. Easily my favorite of the Universal treasures.

It seems like ages since I was on here so upon my return from Spain I decided to have a film fest!!

House of 9 - I have heard good and bad thing regarding this movie but the fact that the combination of Dennis Hopper and Kelly Brook!! were starring was too good an opportunity to miss. Being a fan of My Little Eye I watched this with trepadation and I have to say, it's a decent enough flick. For me not as good as 'My Little Eye' but good all the same.

6.5/10

The Chronicles of Narnia

I was not particularly lookin forward to this when the other half arrived with it but I must admit that if you are looking for good afternoon family entertainment then with this you can't go far wrong. Decent enough effects and acting makes it quite an enjoyable experience

7/10

Popcorn

I spotted this in one of my DVD crates a while back so in the midst of my film fest decided on giving it a whirl. After watching I can safely say that if you are into cheesy 80's horror then go grab a bucket of popcorn, bang in your Poison Cd and start going sick to the cheesy slasher that is Popcorn. All in all a good laugh.

6/10

King Arthur

I had been enjoying my Historical epics until I viewed Alexander recently so waited a while to get over that mess before I even attempted K.A. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this one, was so glad to see Ray Winstone doing his stuff!! nOt in the league of Gladiator but a good film nevertheless.

7/10

New Jack City

Watched this for the first time in years. Still the same trashy stuff it was then lol. Not bad I guess if there's nothing else to watch.

6/10

The Locals

I have heard really bad things about this film and unfortunately I should have listened alot more. Ok so it's not the worst film ever but to be honest I am finding it hard to say too much positive about it. I have seen this kind of film done sooooo much better so many times before. I would avoid if I was you...

5/10 ( being generous)

A History of Violence

I really enjoyed this film. Good plot, good acting and one or tow very hottt scenes too! It was much better than I envisioned, Viggo Mortensen played his part well - man could he fight in this role!

7.5/10

Guess Who

This was pretty much a hit and miss Comedy. Started off strongly and tapered off as it reached it's climax and became a typical girly film. Bernie Mac was class though and it is worth watching for his facial expressions alone!! Check out the scene where Bernie MAc is trying to find a decent track on his car stereo...I'll say no more other than hilarious!

6/10

Old Skool

I have heard some really good things about this movie and so after watching I must admit to being a convert!! Vince Vaughn was his usual best and Tim Ferrell although a small role was hilarious. Also check out Snoop Doggs cameo....quality!!

8/10

Abominus 04-26-2006 06:20 AM

I actually really enjoy Popcorn, especially the rant the killer goes on once he's revealed with all the screaming and spittle. He reminded me a bit of Kirk Cameron

PeaSoupintheye 04-26-2006 07:42 AM

Yeah, I thought that bit was class too!! I thought the film was alot of fun, deffo worth a watch.

Popcorn rules! lol.

Inside Man

The high expectations I had for this one due to the director and cast were met with a clever script, good acting and a very cool ending. There were inserts of social commentary that at times was a bit overkill but other than that and one particular shot that isn't really a big deal but I felt didn't fit in, I don't have a bag thing to say about it.

7.8/10

Also saw ATL again with a friend who wanted to see it. Already gave a review of it but here's another short and to the point....Cultural opposite of a John Hughs movie.

Wow, as much as I didn't really find the movie that great, it does NOT deserve a 1. Sorry, but maybe you SHOULD play the games. The comment was a little... WRONG. It is like the games, a lot. It stays SO faithful it's creepy, right down to the sound effects such as the radio fuzz. The movie is nothing if you haven't played the games though, so maybe that's why your confused. The director HAS played the games, and made sure to make the movie a tribute to the games. Unlike other directors who just want the money. If you haven't played the games, why do you think you deserve to say such a thing? Not like the games? Psh.

Sorry, but... no. :p

One of my friends is trying to get me into biking, so he lent me a bike DVD called "Unchained". Though I'll admit what these guys are doing takes alot of skill and that it looked really cool at first, it got boring fast. Just the same stuff over and over, like a really bad slasher flick. Decent music though...

Just saw Wolf Creek and Capote last night.

Wolf Creek 3.5/10 Dumb, dumb, dumb I hate dumb horror movies and the victims in this movie are dumb, dumb, dumb

Capote 6/10 Hoffman gave a great performance, and the movie is full of solid actors/actresses, but the story didn't draw me in. I couldn't watch it all the way through. I had to stop it, watch it, stop it, watch it.

Fianlly Saw "Constantine". Damn was that dumb. lol@hurting demons with brass knuckles with little crosses on it. The only cool scenes was the demon in the mirror and the demons in the street when they stood next to the store window, and....

Harry Potter 4. Not a bad movie at all. And some of the scenes were incredible, almost downright creepy. Like the guys in those wicked outfits with the skulls over their faces. Reminded me of the "Blind Dead".

Zero 04-27-2006 06:43 AM

just watched Thank You For Smoking. Funny, incredibly cynical and in the end deeply morally ambivalent - but overall better than the average hollywood schlock.
