Elvis's thread got me thinking about these guys for the first time in ages, so I've got this one rockin' at the moment:

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral.

Avenged Sevenfold- City of Evil

They might be mainstream, but they have some of the coolest sounding solos i've ever heard. (Sidewinder's entire guitar part is just awesome)

I knew a few tracks going into this one...I was surprised at how chill it is. Most of the songs are pretty slow and calm, which surprised me being familar with the more upbeat tracks like Jenny Don't Be Hasty and New Shoes.

I'm still enjoying it, but I wish it had a bit more energy. The above tracks are catchy as Hell (especially Jenny - really cool song), but so far most of the album is sounding pretty similar. I'll reserve full judgment until I give a few most listens...

You know, the more I listen to this the more I enjoy it. Now that I've got rid of my preconceived ideas, I'm really getting into the music. He's got an incredible voice, and most of the songs are really simple but have a great melody.

The title track is absolutely gorgeous.

A new favourite for sure...not like anything I've heard before. Really powerful, uplifting and catchy stuff. Not to mention the tribal aspect of the whole thing - gives what could be a pretty basic folk-rock album a whole different flavor.

It's been awhile since I've found album that's really affected me as much as this after just the first few listens. Stunning.

Yeah I never listened to Avenged Sevenfold outside of Bat country and Beast and the Harlot but Based on City of Evil They sound pretty sweet. I just started listening to City of Evil a couple of week ago. The guitar in sidewinder is pretty awesome. My personal Faves are Burn it down, The Wicked End and Strength of the World.

Took me a couple listens to get into it, but I'm starting to really dig it myself. Cool shit.

love the pixies - come on pilgrim, their pre-Surfer album - is a bit more raw and doolittle - which is a classic in my mind and comes right after Surfer - is a bit more polished.

i'm not as big a fan of their later stuff but i do think they are kind of underappreciated. they really opened doors in the post-punk musical movement.

as for me - i've really gotten into Silversun Pickkups - i bought Swoon on the suggestion of a friend and at first thought - 'i don't like poppy crap' but as i listened to it i got more into it. guess you should never assume what your tastes are

Yeh I used to live for that shit but hadn't listened to them in ages. Fuck I'd love to see a show of theirs and see if its as crazy as the shit I've heard about them. My friend saw them in Aussie and he was going so hard in the pit the band pulled him on stage to party with them afterwards haha.

More upbeat than These Streets, and also alot further from the norm - which are both very good things.

This guy is quickly becoming one of my favourite artists...and man, what a voice. Listen to Worried Man and see if you can tell this guy's only like 22. Goddamn.

Also dug this one out for the first time in FAR too long.....one of the best country albums of all-time, and one of my personal favourites:

As long as I live
I won't know why
Why some of my friends
Turn to indigo, God

They just gave up
Thats what they did
The secret thing they very well hid
Everyone loses when heroin wins
I just miss my indigo friends

These are not bad men
These are not bad girls
They just stray by
In their own little world

Wrestling Dan and Tom and Jay
Will and others showed life today
Fought that fight no one wins
Heroin stole my indigo friends

As time slips by
I sit and wonder why
Why them not me
Oh why them not me

I thank the Lord did not go there
Really didn't see their life to sin
Really didn't know till the bitter end
Heroin stole my indigo friends
Indigo friends

As long as I live
I won't know why
Why some of my friends
Turn to indigo, God

They just gave up
Thats what they did
The secret thing they very well hid
Everyone loses when heroin wins
I just miss my indigo friends

Coconut Records - Nighttiming. Awesome album.

Got this beauty yesterday. She is my favorite female singer, she combines elements of electronic music and classical, simply amazing IMO.

I really dig this. Very trippy, it's mostly grooves and guitar lines and effects.
This is perfect to put on and just bob your head to.
