he did suit the character in PB physicaly, quite well, but once he put his 'vocal' acting skills it started going down hill. Maybe he's improved now with experience, I've only seen him in the sequal, no other films.

but i thought even his monotone delivery was appropriate for pitch black .. he wasnt supposed to have much of a personality ..

(like the way Keanus wooden delivery served his Matrix character ..

I liked Chronicles for what it was, 90 minutes of pure fluff and special effects. If it had for a second tried to be anything else, im sure i wouldnt have liked it.

The ending really sucked though... Plus, i cant see that head necromonger guy as anything other than the guy from storm of the century....


Vin is kind of like the predator, more a cool looking monster than anything else. Although the predator certainly has more depth.

thats just the thing, i thought it was trying to be an epic ..

I believe you are correct, but i suppressed any attention my brain may have paid to those details. I really, REALLY wanted to like it (i saw it the same night as the Manchurian Candidate and Collateral, so i was in the mood to like things)

that aside ... it just tried for too wide a scope.. the pace was a bit too frenzied and although the story was simple, it still tried to make things complicated - all over the map.

I enjoyed it. Denzel was good. Meryl Streep makes you want to punch her in the head, which is good.

Although i do have a hard time thinking anything with Liev Schreiber in it is anything other than shit. Phantoms caused some pretty nasty scars on my psyche.

you notice though .. he seems to carry a good rep in Hollywood ??
i get the impression he's held in fairly high regard.

I know, there are other actors like that too (Ben Affleck?) who, if they are involved in a movie, it automatically feels like "Cheap, half-assed shit", until I am proven otherwise.


He is a decent actor, i just have a stigma about him.
