I liked the gore and the atmosphere but I think my favorite part was the music ESPECIALLY toward the end.

It is a complete disgrace to the original

Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks, I guess.

But it's way better than the rest of the sequels, surely?

Except maybe for Freddy's Revenge, which is very interesting (homo-eroticism and all) and underrated.

Ok, so I had nothing better to do today but watch movies. Got a problem with it?

Of Unknown Origin

Though I dont really consider it a horror film, if you are one of many who happens to be afraid of rodents this film will terrify you. Hell, even you you dont mind rodents it might freak you out a bit. Peter Weller is always a great actor, and he stars in this film as Bart, a man who wages an all out war with one hell of an angry rat while the rest of his life begins to fall apart because of it. He is the only leading actor in this film, and he carries it almost completly on his own. His dinner table speech about the dangers of rats was both hilarious and a bit unnerving at the same time. I liked how this film was almost self-mocking in parts, though it always kept a straight face about it and never went to far. The rat's point of view shots really show this. The scenes with the rat were all very well done, congrats to whoever trained the rat. The plot was very original, and I liked how smart the rat was. Always a couple steps ahead of poor ol' Bart. I think I jumped a foot when the damn thing came out of the toilet. Last but not least, that was one heck of a bat he made near the end!

Overall, this is a great film. Admittedly it's a bit cheesy in places, but it knows what it is and handles itself very well. Highly recomended.

8.5/10

Anaconda

Most underated adventure thriller ever IMO..... I love this, one of my favorites.

9/10

The Cycle Savages

Pretty decent biker flick, one of the better ones I've seen recently better than Hell's Angels '69 and on par with The Glory Stompers.

urgeok 04-02-2006 05:28 PM

Ice Age 2 - The Meltdown

aptly named - this was one of my bigger disapointments in a long time.

in typical big hollywood sequel fashion .. instead of the relaxed pacing and clever delivery of the 1st film, this one was - from the 1st frame - amped up, bloated, and just plain irritating.

again a sequal is ruined by the filmmakers looking at what made the 1st film a success ... and crunching it into a computer to come up with something bigger and brighter based on what worked the 1st time ...the 'key moments'

where the sequels of toy story and shrek made wonderful films by allowing a fresh movie/story to unravel ... ice age 2 felt forced and desperate. dont let the kids get bored - knock them dead and keep it coming. go go go go !!!!

such a shame.

bloodrayne 04-02-2006 11:46 PM

Madhouse...Excellent...Everyone should see this one...It's got a little bit of everything...Some gore, psychological mindfuck, psychosis, murderous mental patients, ghosts, suspense, and a twist

Final Cut...With Robin Williams...This one was pretty good, too

Dracula 3000...Meh...It was okay...I guess...

finished Bloodrayne ...

considering who made it .. it's a masterpiece..
as far as other measuring sticks go .. it wasnt great by a long shot

it was ...ok.... for the most part .. but eventually near the end it got stupid.. one sequence in particular ..

***************spoilers *********************

the escape from the dungeon cell ... WTF was that ??!!

that scene alone reminded me how stupid either ewe boil is - or how stupid he thinks his audience is.

it was a non-rvent really as a whole .. buy miles better than the other 2 pieces of shit he grunted out previously.

newb 04-03-2006 06:17 AM

The Chronicles of Narnia....pretty entertaining with some great CGI.

I'll leave this here for urge....very little fanfare....

Happy Birthday

"Saw 2" not too bad. Had good pacing and focused on more charachters with the decent twist at the end.

hellfire1 04-03-2006 06:47 AM

for you.

urgeok 04-03-2006 07:25 AM

thanks guys ..

i actually had a terrific night Friday :

I went to see Nash the Slash .. my favorite most life influencing musician since i was a kid .. My wife took me as a b-day treat ..

well, it turns out that he was a guest attraction at Ad-Astra - some Sci-Fi writer geek convention (Terry Brooks was there .. Ray Harryhousen was supposed to be there but he cancelled. Peter David was there - writer of many Star Trek novels - as well as Ed Greenwood ... the Forgotten Realms guy)

So to see Nash we had to get admission to the convention .. he was playing a live score to the silent classic 'the lost world'

So once we walked around a little - and saw all too much of the terrifying crowd there (middle aged sci-fi and fantasy geeks .. fat bespeckled balding men with vests, ponytails and tilly hats with some of the nastiest women i've ever seen all in one place - all EXACTLY like the comic book store guy in the Simpsons)

we decided the safest place to be until Nash's show started was in the hotel lounge to have a few drinks ..

after a bit NAsh was in there (not many people know what he looks like without the trade mark invisible man bandages he always wears when playing.

so i went over and said hi - and we chatted for about 30 min before he had to go change for his show (we'd exchanged emails a couple of times and we were introduced at the festival of fear so I'd met him before .. but i was still thrilled)

so as we're leaving to get decent seats he says .. come on back after the show - i'll be here ,, selling tshirts and CDs. etc ..

so we did .. and he calls us over to sit at his table where we proceed to chat for an hour or so until we had to leave ..

it was a memorable night ... super amazing, cool, smart, articulate, friendly guy...who is not only a Canadian music icon, but also has stories about all the others ...

(He is big still in the UK - he played with - and toured with Gary Neuman at one time ..)

it would be like someone here getting to sit with Kurt Cobain(alive), Eminem, Alice Cooper, or whoever the hell it was who's music shaped your tastes at a young age ..

oh .. and i finally got a nice picture of his skull mandolin ...

some day - i'll ask if i can get a pic while holding it.
i'd better be wearing rubber pants the day that happens !!

this isnt my picture below .. its a closeup from the cover of his album :American Bandages

The Matrix

10/10

bloodrayne 04-03-2006 05:27 PM

Demons At The Door....Do NOT watch this movie...Unless you feel the need to be able to better appreciate every terrible movie you have EVER seen

This one has just replaced Killjoy, as the worst movie ever

I only bought this one because it has an ICP soundtrack, so Dustin wanted it....Should have just bought him another CD

Seriously...I could never have imagined that a movie could be SO bad....And I have seen a LOT of really awful movies...

Hand puppet monsters, Rubber masks, photoshop animated scenes...A demon in jeans with bare human feet...And the 'devil' taunts people with insults that a 10 year-old might use, if he were extremely lazy and unimaginative:rolleyes:

Posher778 04-03-2006 05:30 PM

urgeok 04-03-2006 08:24 PM

ehhh.... Dukes of Hazard ..

out of curiosity ... and it was free.

any further comments on this film would just be redundant..

Elvis_Christ 04-03-2006 08:34 PM

The Vidiot From U.H.F

Shitty nonsense humour basic as hell plot. I really liked this one for a change.

Dressed To Kill

Can't say much that hasn't already been said about this one. Brilliant one of De Palma's best.

.....and Happy Birthday for the other day Mr Urge Overkill :) sounds like ya had a good one!

The Sound of Thunder

feral cat 04-04-2006 01:12 AM

Requiem Pour Un Vampire ... got to be the only movie where a woman is brought to orgasm by a plastic toy bat!

She Shoots Straight ... much better than I thought it would be action / martial arts movie starring Sammo's wife

Yes, definately my favorite comedy, one that actually has good humor. Glad to see I recruited somebody!

And yah, like Urge said, check Made out. Vaughn and Favoreau again star and their chracters are similar. Not as good as Swingers, but still some very funny moments.

hellfire1 04-04-2006 12:40 PM

hehe i watched it again today. just to watch the beautiful babies all over again. :D really a great film.

also watched pride and prejudice just to see if keira deserved her oscar nomination. was a good performance, but not oscar worthy.

One of the best lines:

(as T and Sue are fighting over a video game)

"Why do you think they put instant replay in the fuckin' game?! To see if it's bullshit!"

Hahaha, I love that whole scene so very much.
