Just saw Don't Breathe...superb, in my book. It's the sort of flick that relies on suspense and ratchets it up several notches. 8/10.

Blood Father, 2016. 7/10
http://s2.dmcdn.net/VT8ig/x240-B6F.jpg Mel was amazing and looks sooooo good. The movie was a bit slow and I felt no connection with his daughter was established but the ending brought my score up some. Mel had some cool dialog that was 'Lethal Weaponish'. Nice. |

You should check out Predators, I really enjoyed it. https://s16.postimg.org/iksg0wkox/Pride.jpg Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) I.M.D.B. Five sisters in 19th century England must cope with the pressures to marry while protecting themselves from a growing population of zombies. Well...it's certainly Pride and Prejudice with zombies. A decent movie with a slightly interesting twist on the zombies. Gore is okay. It's certainly a well made movie. The zombie storyline takes a back seat to the Mr Darcy/Ms Bennett storyline that we've seen half a dozen times before. If you've never seen any Pride and Prejudice story and you're into horror, check it out. It was certainly the most entertaining version of the story for me, even if the zombie aspects were superfluous. 7/10 |

Don't Breathe (2016) 9/10. Would have been a perfect 10 horror but there is no supernatural element. I highly recommend. |

The Conjuring (2016)
D Overal I don't care for ghosts/haunted house movies. Only gave it a try because it's an R-Rated horror movie with a bigger budget. But I still wonder where it all went. Thoughts, with spoilers "-Based on a true story. Riiight. Had to grin after the talk show scene. "I hate it when academics call us frauds". -Guy shoots several people in their home during their sleep, no one wakes up. -The demon's name is its weak spot. That's why it gave her its name shortly before they took on the case. What a nice demon. -Most English characters sound like bad stereotypes. They sound like Americans doing impressions. -And all for only 40 million dollars." |

Saw Lights Out the other day.
Great set up and concept. Couple of solid scary moments. I thought the entire last act of the movie was pretty good too. Really liked the actors in the movie. Found them to be quite likable. Overall it was an entertaining little horror film. 3/5 |

"The Mist"
Slight spoilers ahead! Watched it yesterday for (I think) the third time. What I like about it is it's pretty much a "fun" horror movie all the way through, and then the ending is... wow. After a fun ride the end comes and it's just brutally down and depressing. I love that. It's also a fun movie in that it has telling glimpses into Frank Darabont's next horror venture, "The Walking Dead". Several of the same actors, similar ideas (group mentality), etc. Plus... Drew Struzan! One of my favorites. :) |

Equals (2015)
https://s13.postimg.org/v3ymnkd7r/Equals.jpg Set in a world where emotions have been eradicated. But still two people fall in love when they regain their feelings from a mysterious disease, causing tensions between them and their society. Dull but a passable romantic sci-fi drama. I'd like to see young actresses like Kristen Stewart & Rooney Mara doing some joyful roles next time. The way Hollywood is kind of typecasting them or they have been choosing films with this sorta depressing & sad roles is actually frustrating. I think they are not that bad artists who can't or shouldn't try out different kind of characters in different films. Anyway, it's just an opinion. >>: B- I Am Not a Serial Killer (2016) https://s17.postimg.org/l1fj4ez33/I_...New_Poster.jpg >>: B |
Captain America: Civil War.
A few times during the film I thought to myself "Why am I bothering to watch this? Its not any good." And then I remembered I feel physically awful today and in that state I prefer to watch things I have no investment in. I did not care about any of the characters, the story, or dull action scenes. So it helped pass the time. 3/10 |

Don't Breathe (2016) "A group of friends break into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking they'll get away with the perfect heist. They're very wrong." Contender for my favorite horror movie of the year. Incredibly brutal and suspenseful. The simplicity makes the movie all the more effective. It does get a little exhausting towards the end with all the cat-and-mouse games and twists and whatnot, but that's hardly a complaint. I loved it. |
