The Collector (2009) I.M.D.B. Desperate to repay his debt to his ex-wife, an ex-con plots a heist at his new employer's country home, unaware that a second criminal has also targeted the property, and rigged it with a series of deadly traps. I really enjoyed this one. Good suspense to the tense moments throughout, with a cat-and-mouse feel between antagonist and protagonist, the former being an intriguing and formidable presence, and the latter making smart choices. Very well made, visceral, smart - highly recommended. 9/10 https://s9.postimg.org/5oowdzx23/The_Collection.jpg The Collection (2012) I.M.D.B. A man who escapes from the vicious grips of the serial killer known as "The Collector" is blackmailed to rescue an innocent girl from the killer's booby-trapped warehouse. Bloodier, higher body count, more action - it hits the traditional marks of a sequel. It gives more information into the killer and his collection - all of which are suitably interesting. I missed the suspense of the first movie, and the run-time was a little short. It could have done with another 10 or 20 mins spent weaving suspense into the story. A good addition to the first movie though, and a great ending. Recommended. 8/10 |

Such a provocative film, and the performances are excellent. I love everything about Stigmata, including the gorgeous look of the film. |

WILD THINGS (1998). Very convoluted but intriguing with solid turns by Kevin Bacon, Matt Dillon and Bill Murray. OF COURSE, You have to mention the extremely spicy scenes with Denise Richards (Gorgeous here) and Neve Campbell. ****

Against my better judgement I think I'm going to see Suicide Squad. I might see Sausage Party tomorrow also.

The third one is already written, apparently, called The Collected, but because The Collection didn't do so well financially, it's not going to be made any time soon. https://s10.postimg.org/hm0br1eo5/Black_Sheep.jpg Black Sheep (2006) I.M.D.B. An experiment in genetic engineering turns harmless sheep into blood-thirsty killers that terrorize a sprawling New Zealand farm. As well made as a movie about killer sheep can be I guess, at least in terms of the monsters. Unfortunately it relies on the absurdity of the premise alone to carry the movie. The script isn't particularly funny, nothing much interesting really happens, and the acting isn't great. 6/10 |
Shark Lake
Only one star on Netflix... Surely it can't be THAT bad. The opening tries its best to keep you interested with a chase scene and some cops and robbers. Up til about a third through it was half decent. There was a story with some decent drama, okay characters, the underwater lake shots are so gorgeous I'm sure they were actually taken in the Caribbean, and the build up to the shark was actually good. Then we get our big reveal too early, and CGI makes its reveal. It all just goes to shit from there. The characters turned bland the story turned bland the scares were nonexistent, this thing deserves one fucking star. |

The Conjuring, and The Conjuring 2 - OK, I'm a bit behind, so I thought I'd watch them back to back. The first one is pretty good. It's a two hour episode of Friday the 13th, the Series, but it's still pretty good. The second one is just awful.

Holy craaaap, I'm finally going to watch The Witch.

The Hills Run Red (2009) I.M.D.B. A group of young horror fans go searching for a film that mysteriously vanished years ago but instead find that the demented killer from the movie is real, and he's thrilled to meet fans who will die gruesomely for his art. Fun slasher flick. Suitably gruesome, goes along at a good pace, well shot, interesting premise. There's a scene towards the end, just a simple line of dialogue, that was brilliantly done. Also, Sophie Monk gets her tits out. Recommended. 7.5/10 |

NIGHT OF THE LIVING FRED 2011
A movie I bought for the grandkids who were spending the weekend. A teenager suspects his music teacher/neighbour's a vampire. It's funny and I ended up enjoying it as much as they did. |

In The Deep (2016) I.M.D.B. Two sisters on Mexican vacation are trapped in a shark observation cage at the bottom of the ocean, with oxygen running low and great whites circling nearby, they have less than an hour of air left to figure out how to get to the surface. A pretty well done movie. Well shot, good acting, fun premise. Other than the initial moment of them entering the cage, I never really felt suspense or dread. And I think this came from the lack of reality regarding the sharks. They were ridiculously aggressive. Even though the CGI was good enough, I never believed the sharks were real, because they didn't behave like normal sharks. Same could be said of most shark movies of course. It was an entertaining movie, but not great. 6.5/10 |
