Shall We Dance ... an american remake of a japanese film that's NOT a horror.

not a bad movie - not as good as the Japanese origional but both susan sarandon and jennifer lopez were a treat on the eyes and Stanly Tucci was good as always ...

The Hills Have Eyes (2005)-

Wow. This was hands down the best horror remake ever. Easily. Very respectful to Craven's classic, but with about 1000x the gore. Very cool movie. Definately recommend it.

Posher778 03-12-2006 11:08 AM

Underworld, not bad.

I'm dying to see V for Vendetta, when does it come out, and/or has anyone seen it if it is out.

Dracula (1931) with commentary by David J. Skal

Pretty insightful, a little dull at times, but i chose a great plan of attack by reading the book, watching the movie 3 times and then watching the movie with commentary. He certainly does a lot of book-to-movie comparisons, which was what I was looking for.

SPOILER***
I was good, mentally exausting I freaked at the burning scene.

Posher778 03-12-2006 01:38 PM

That wasn't much of a spoiler lol.

urgeok 03-12-2006 02:29 PM

the shaggy dog ..

had some funny stuff - for a kids movie.
they tried to go the extra mile in this one .. re explaining what the dog is about - a more involved plot .. some real family issues ..
more mature disney fare (compared to the origional)

but some horrible CGI at the very end - the worst i've seen in 20 years actually.

The Hills Have Eyes (2006)

Here is yet another very positive review of The Hills Have Eyes remake for you HorrorWhores. First off, this is pretty much the same thing as the original, excpet with a new cast (obviously) and a helluva lot of more gore. Speaking of gore, this is one of the goriest, bloodiest, grisliest movies in movie cinema (Dead Alive still being the goriest)! A must-see, and the best damn remake I've seen! A great homage to Wes Craven's classic!

4 and a half stars out of 5

noctuary 03-12-2006 05:42 PM

The Hills Have Eyes (yeah, me too)

Anyway, like pretty much everyone else, I was quite pleased with this one. Definitely a lot better than I expected. I was very surprised at the amount of gore they included in this... definitely above and beyond what is typical in a mainstream horror flick. Overall, a good fun (in a nasty sort of way) movie. Overall: 7/10

Posher778 03-12-2006 05:47 PM

Underworld, not sure if i already posted this. I loved it, it was great

Doom

As far as big-budget, explosion filled, mindless action flicks based on video games go, this has got to be one of the best. The Rock always shines in films like this, and this was no exception. His character Sarge, along with his BFG, was one of the highlights of the movie for me. In fact, I thought all the actors were pretty good, considering what kind of movie this is. Th effects were phenominal, more proof that when used well, CGI looks amazing. I loved the combination of practical and computer effects, the monsters looked great. I was rather annoyed by the fight in the end, looked really stupid and out of place. The first-person scene, however, by all means deserves the praise that it has been getting, I really enjoyed it. Overall, I say check this one out if you're in the mood for a movie that you don't need to put much thought into.

I really enjoyed this too, but the 1st person mode wasn't as great as i hoped, except the wheelchair creature part. I hated how they weren't demons, but just infected humans, and the part in the sewewr with the eyes, was very scary!

I actually thought the oposite about the 1st person scene. IMO, it went downhill at the Pinky-Demon part. I still thought that part was good, of course, but I enjoyed the rest of that sequence more. The fight with the Pinky-Demon just seemed to last way longer than it needed to, slashing it with a chainsaw only looks cool for so long.

I actually liked how they were just infected humans, gave it more of a zombie film quality.

Posher778 03-12-2006 06:53 PM

It wasn't explained enough though, like, how were some people just zombies, but some the demons? also i don't think there was quite enough zombie action.

*Minor spoilers for Doom*

Agreed that there wast enough zombie action, but it does explain why they dont all turn into Demons. Remember when Goat "woke up" and killed himself? That was to show that they dont turn into Demons right away, it takes time. Just like any zombie movie, nobody turns immediatly and everyone takes a different amount of time. If the movie took place an hour or two later, there would have been a hell of alot more Demons roaming around.

Posher778 03-12-2006 07:10 PM

ooh, i see, i was probably too busy flicking off the dumb ass character that played the rock. hah.

Citizen Toxie
The Toxic Avenger IV

This movie started out great, very entertaining, and very funny. But unfortunatly throughout the film I just started to get really annoyed with it. Some of the concepts were really dull and it just didnt seem worth it to me.

Really Good Blood + Gore and Lotsa Boobies if your into that (Im not) (not in a horror anyway),

1.75/5
