Red Eye

Watched Craven's RED EYE last night on the projector - not bad, but you get the feeling he's treading water...NOT anywhere near his best films.

Night before was I ROBOT for the tenth time - excellent:D

hammerfan 02-27-2006 06:51 AM

On Friday night it was:

Brides of Dracula
Curse of the Werewolf

On Saturday night it was:
The Brothers Grimm
Phantom of the Opera (Hammer's version)

The Flayed One 02-27-2006 07:55 AM

Boo - Sheesh. I've been trying really hard lately, as per my friend's suggestion, to lighten up and turn my brain off when I watch movies like this. So I had a couple of whiskey & waters with it.

Even in my wonderful alcohol induced state, I had to groan at the acting and some of the cheesy plot lines. That being said, I did enjoy some of the cool effects, even though a lot of them consisted of the worn-out twitchy ghost. It was worth the $4.75USD I paid for it, but I see it collecting a lot of dust on my collection shelf. 5/10

Saw II - I'm sure most of you have seen it and passed judgement already, but I'll throw in my humble opinion. WARNING! *SPOILERS AHEAD*

I'll start of by stating that I enjoyed this movie as much, if not more than the first one. The needle scene that everyone has been talked about lived up to the hype. More sadistic traps, and I loved the way they tied it in with the first one at the end. I was particularly happy to see the re-emergence of the pig-head costume briefly at the end. I did manage to guess the ending about 10 minutes before it came (I had no clue as to the ending of the first before it happened) but I was still able to enjoy it. It also leaves space for interesting sequal possibilities. BRAVO! 9.5/10

Eternal - I've always wanted to see a movie about Countess Erszebet Bathory. I was so damned stoked when I heard about this movie that I almost soiled myself.

I was a little disappointed that the movie leaned way more towards mystery/suspense than horror. Deep down, I almost wanted it to move into the realms of exploitation. The suspense was good, and all in all it ended up being a good movie with some great scenery and decent blood/gore. 7.5/10

I mean, I know she was a bitch and all, but she still tried to save them and do the right thing at the end, and she should've lived. There have been WAY worse bitch girls in movie that have survived.

komodo on the sci-fi channel. oh and legend of boggy creek.
who on this site don't just like this movie, I couldn't go in the woods for months, when I first saw it at the theaters.

Posher778 02-27-2006 04:04 PM

I always liked komodo. Just cause it was a tv movie, and it was different. But the best sci fi movie (made by sci fi channel) is still Sabretooth.

A Dirty Shame,

a crazy John Waters film.

the making of feature was as interesting as the film .. John Waters is an excellent speaker ..

Corpse Bride

Allthough not as bad as the reviews, this movie was still....not that great. I liked the animation, and I loved the music. If it wasnt for them. The movie would have blowed.

2/5

urgeok 02-28-2006 06:29 AM

re. corpse bride ... i loved the animation but found the music failed ... i felt it was too much of a rehash of the same tunes in Nightmare Before Xmas (one song in particular - cant remember the name - was indistinguishable from 'Nightmare'

i never tire of that animation though .. it's gorgeous.

Dune. I love the book but when I see this film I feel like it was too short to develope the full story. Giger did a great work with Guide Prime (and with the Harkonen) but looks like they didnt have enough budget for the special effects

alkytrio666 02-28-2006 04:03 PM

Dawn of the Dead ('78) with commentary.

There's some interesting shit behind the helicopter scene.

Yellow Jacket 02-28-2006 06:58 PM

Saw 2 commentary.

I enjoyed the commentary on Saw 2. Very informative and funny as hell when Donnie Wahlberg was speaking (though he was also informative). I would've left Beverly Mitchell out, but that's just me. Worth the time!

I really liked this movie too, but it was somewhat hard to follow at parts, and I didn't really understand where they were at times. I still think the ending where the girl goes out and beats the hell out of those bad guys with that axe and machete was the best part.

Three Extremes :
Dumplings

This came as a feature film in the Three...Extremes package. The other two "Box", and "Cut" are both shorts that averaged around 40 mins each.

Dumplings was very well planned and well layed out. It was really well Directed. Unfortunatly I dont know If I like this movie or not. I liked the story (allthough, I dont know if I believe in the science behind the film) but I really, really disliked the scenes of abortion in the movie. and what they did with the aborted babies. I disliked twenty times more.

If you dont mind abortion......this movie will be an easy...

5/5

But If Your Like me and disagree with abortion, and what they did with the babies this movie gets a

2.5/5
