NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD:30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION (1998). Love the original NIGHT and curiosity compelled me to check this out, despite the many scathing (and that's being polite) reviews I heard about. Well, not totally bad, but sort of pointless. The new scenes added are OK, but DON'T TAKE OUT THE ORIGINAL SOURCE MATERIAL TO PUT IN NEW FOOTAGE::mad::. New musical score would work in another film, but not here and the composer takes an acting turn and it's one of the hammiest turns I've ever watched.
On the plus side, until the Millenium/40th Anniversary titles came out, probably the best the film ever looked with a nice clean print. But this just reeks of making a buck and is really not necessary, sort of like the colorized version.
A perfect example of "If it ain't Broke, don't fix it". **1/2

Very cool!

My son and I went to a '8 films to die for' movie marathon one weekend; it's been awhile but I think it was the third run that they did. It was a lot of fun!!

That WW1 bio narrated by Robert Ryan is excellent....enough of the facts without being too heavy handed.
Just astounding how many casualties occurred during the conflict and really nothing solved.

hammerfan 03-26-2015 03:58 AM

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Witchboard
Cowboys & Aliens

I saw a short bit of it on tv many years ago and was impressed with how well written it was. Kept hoping it would show up again but never found it. When I discovered it on Amazon I ordered it as soon as I could. Ryan is a great narrator.

The Marked Ones was the only one I didn't completely like. I mostly bought it to complete the series.

I wouldn't mind just getting the book. The illustrations in it were easily my favorite part of the movie.

horcrux2007 06-10-2015 08:36 AM

I finally decided to stop overthinking this stuff and just buy every movie I like rather than do whatever the fuck I used to do. My wish list went from 27 to 50 when I remembered how many movies I liked and didn't buy.

Anyway, today I bought The Others, Case 39, The Innocents, Silent House, Orphan, The Woman in Black, The Village, The Last Exorcism, and The Possession.

The only thing you gotta keep in mind if you're gonna start buying more movies, is "Will I watch it again?"
There are so much movies there are only so many hours in a day.

Well if I like it, then I'm pretty sure I'd watch it again.

Amen to that. That and 'will I even READ this' makes buying movies and books so much easier these days. I didn't use to be so good a judge at what to buy/ask for when I was younger. I still have books lying around that I'm trying to get rid of that I only ever got cause the cover was ''pretty''.

Bad things happen when I go to Goodwill. Mostly I just go broke. The finds are always worth it though. Being a fan of vintage and classics, I still use cassettes and VHS tapes. So today was a good day. 8)

seen all but 'I know what you did' and look forward to watching them all on my ''new'' VHS player

I love the fact that you keep it 'old school'!!

I had an awesome collection of movies on VHS, I can only hope that I can replace them all now in dvd format since I sold all the VHS tapes. Goodwill is one of my delightful money spending places too ::embarrassment::!

Latest buys (Walmart):

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Stark Trek the Voyage Home
Transformers Dark of the Moon
Rob Roy
Evil Dead (original)
