Tammy (2014)
4/10

Too cliche and shallow. With actress Melissa McCarthy staring and co-writing there was an opportunity for some authentic vulnerability and serious issues to build into some great situational comedy, but this is as shallow and cliche as it comes. Was this script under someone's mattress for 20 years?

Hush (2016)
9/10

Classic case of a film that knows what it is, and does that very well.

"10 Cloverfield" 7/10

A captivity flick with a needless cloverfield ending added on. Not that the story in the basement was super great, but that ending just felt depsperate and out of place. If only the basement part had lasted 30 minutes and the next 1 and a half hour would have taken place in Cloverfield world, this would have been a much better movie.

But errr... yea, let's get a sequel and see what happens.

Overrated. It all looked good and the acting's good but that's it.
It reminds me of the Babadook and It Follows.
Seems to me that for a horror movie to get some praise it's needs to look artsy on a limited budget and the story has to be vague.

LOL - I really liked all of those.

Not a bad film but a bit boring. Casey's transformation was okay and her boyfriend was a fuckin' moron. If you like 'body horror' try Thanatomorphose and Contracted, much better films.

Weird. The atmosphere of this film was strange. Watching this my emotions went from dislike to an odd fascination. I'm a fan of Ellie Church and her husband Brian K Williams, so this was a must see for me. Then I saw that Dustin Wade Mills designed the 'creature' ::love::

Meh. Inbred family and their friends attack a teacher and students on a photography field trip. The usual fare with an action twist with a former navy seal in accompaniment.. This one inbred looked like a tree trunk. Huh?? ::sad::

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

THE WINTER SOLDIER raised the bar for Russo brothers just 2 years ago and yet again they have accomplished another major Marvel project so much wonderfully this time also. Though very critically if I say, this may not be a flawless entertainer for everyone but just for those edge of your seat, intense action-o-graphy, Marvel fans can easily overlook the very few minor issues the story carried till the end. Where Black Panther steals the show at the first half, the Ant-Man & the Spidy comes with the surprise packages at the 2nd. I think after the first Avengers movie, this is another great show of Marvel superheroes where more or less each & every character got their fair amount of even brief screen time so effectively. Just go & watch it for that more than 15 minutes long 'Battle at the Airport' part...man! that was freaking awesome!

This is one I helped produce. I don't hook onto a project unless I see something that promises good gore and sickness. That is what I like. Emir sent me the screener last night and yes it was amazing. Here is a taste..

"What We Become" 7/10

A danish zombie flick, which makes it the 10th danish horror movie all together, or something like that.

Nothing special really. Best part of it was the build-up in the first third of the movie where everything is cozy and peaceful. Then, along with the action, the story slowly fell apart, leaving an unsatisfying ending. Whole thing felt like a pilot to a danish Walking Dead, which I really don't hope is the case as most of the horror in this one was either implied or talked about. Yaaaay..

But the worst part of What We Become was the casting of the lead actor playing the son, who seemed like the most rookie and wooden of the cast and his character was just so damn.. douchebagged. Oh well, I'm sure he got his attitude from his mother who was just a grumpy bitch all along.

So if you're a zombie nut give it a try, if not skip it.

Now it's sent to several distribution companies to see who's interested. : )

There is a screening at the local Theater in New York, a bar will show it and it will be submitted to Toronto Film Festival! Crosses fingers..

EDIT* Legless Corpse Films picked it up for distribution. : )

NFG the Movie (2016)
Not sure how to rate this one.
It's a blatant Jackass rip-off starring a couple of irritating bro's.
Most pranks are lame or disgusting BUT some were hilarious.
Like a bait bike with a wire attached waiting on a slope resulting in thieves eating pavement.

In this exquisitely made and terrifying new horror film, the age-old concepts of witchcraft, black magic and possession are innovatively brought together to tell the intimate and riveting story of one family's frightful unraveling in the New England wilderness circa 1630. New England, 1630. Upon threat of banishment by the church, an English farmer leaves his colonial plantation, relocating his wife and five children to a remote plot of land on the edge of an ominous forest - within which lurks an unknown evil. Strange and unsettling things begin to happen almost immediately - animals turn malevolent, crops fail, and one child disappears as another becomes seemingly possessed by an evil spirit. With suspicion and paranoia mounting, family members Klovn Forever putlocker accuse teenage daughter Thomasin of witchcraft, charges she adamantly denies. As circumstances grow more treacherous, each family member's faith, loyalty and love become tested in shocking and unforgettable ways. Writer/director Robert Eggers' debut feature, which premiered to great acclaim at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival - winning the Best Director Prize in the U.S. Narrative Competition - painstakingly recreates a God-fearing New England decades before the 1692 Salem witch trials, in which religious convictions tragically turned to mass hysteria. Told through the eyes of the adolescent Thomasin - in a star-making turn by newcomer Anya Taylor-Joy - and supported by mesmerizing camera work and a powerful musical score, The Witch is a chilling and groundbreaking new take on the genre.

The Witch 2016

Decent. The music accompanying the first few scenes...the, i assume, violins did not fit at all. It seemed like the director thought "hey let's throw some vaguely scary music in" without thinking about the interaction with the scenes. Maybe people who do not watch horror films very often and have a preconceived idea what horror films are like would think it fits. The acting from the children was surprisingly good while the mother and father were just mediocre. Other comments...SPOILERS FOR THE FILM FOLLOWING THESE WORDS IN ALL CAPS...the film was too slow in some parts and the horrific scenes were glaringly abrupt. The mother's nipple being pecked at by the raven/crow, the witch hissing at the twins were not seamless. Wasted opportunity for extending these scenes. Being spare with a chosen scene can be done right, but the choices here were amateurish. Also at the end when Thomasin(sp?) conjures the devil it did not fit. She sincerely fights against being declared a witch. She's distraught by the disappearances and death. Then out of no where she calls the devil, signs her name to his book, and goes happily to dance nude with other witches that are randomly gathered far from civilization. Does not seem plausible to me.

SPOILERS END

Overall I think it is worth at least one viewing. I do not think I'll watch it again.

A Forest 2016

Predictable. Jump scares that were very tame. Boring characters. Predictable ending. Boring scenes. It would've been a lot more interesting if they shot more in the city which we see briefly a few times in the beginning. The scenery was used poorly. It could have been shot in any forest. Pass on this.
