Dark Awakening 2014

Rewatch. Disappointing. Some of the actors were ok, but mostly they did not evoke emotion. Quite a few cheesy scenes that I guess are supposed to be filler/profound which of course they were not. It seems like either the director and writer(same person) felt they had to put in a lot of overused scenes or the backer of the film made him put them in. Noticable sfx were used sparingly and not well. 4/10 And its caused this song to be stuck in my head: |

At The Devil's Door 2014
No gif, too groggy. I couldn't keep my eyes open. I paused it and went directly to bed. Too slow, lots of dialogue scenes that did not do much for the movie. |

Holidays (2016)
Bad. Most stories didn't make sense or felt unfinished. Imo that's lazy. "Hey! Here's some weird stuff. You figure out everything else." Only thing decent was the production and the cast. |

White God (2014)
http://i64.tinypic.com/j10xs7.jpg The story follows Lili & her dog Hagen. As her mother going on a long trip to Australia, she left her to live with her estranged father Daniel; who works in a meat/animal processing farm & can't much stand the dog around for various reasons. And eventually Lili got devastated when her father forcefully sets Hagen free on the streets and soon the homeless pet realize how much uncertain life can be in its every steps in the cruel world outside. The story gradually then took a sad but scary progression of Hagen's descent into madness through various masters & captors including the forced training of how to kill in dog fights. But at the end...every dog has its day! This multiple award winning Hungarian film not only just a revenge fantasy about animal cruelty but also effectively depicts a symbolic portrayal of abused underclass and a cornered downtrodden rising up against the oppressors. Recommended. >>: A- Still (2014) http://i66.tinypic.com/2j13dkn.jpg Quite slow burn but a decent Britt revenge-drama. >>: B |

Deadpool (2016)
A- Bit of a masterpiece. Especially considering the budget. I think the sequel might be even better since they don't have to include the origin story. Pandemic (2016) C/D |

The Huntsman: Winter's War (2016)
I typically don't see a movie solely for its cast, but I couldn't pass up a movie with Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Chris Hemsworth. Winter's War certainly isn't the best thing these actors have done in their careers, but it's still a fairly entertaining twist on the Snow White tale. The Huntsman acts as a prequel and sequel to 2012's Snow White and the Huntsman, which I regrettably hadn't seen before I watched this, and it follows an escalating battle between the Ice Queen, Freya, and her sister, Ravenna. Freya's former Huntsman, Eric and, fellow warrior, Sara, who were raised to protect Freya, have to conceal their forbidden love while combat Ravenna's intentions to take back Snow White's kingdom. Despite the campy writing and plot inconsistencies, I still found quite a bit to enjoy about Winter's War. Watching Charlize Theron be a badass as the Evil Queen was ridiculously entertaining. There's also the beautiful cinematography, costumes, visual effects and *ahem* Chris Hemsworth that made the movie visually stunning. The campy writing also isn't so bad that it goes into cheese territory. It's fairly self aware and fun while not taking itself overly seriously. The plot is a bit more of a fantasy romance with some action in it, but Jessica Chastain and Chris Hemsworth give their characters some life so that you do want to see them succeed by the time the movie is over. The Huntsman: Winter's War is fairly slight entertainment, but it's got a great cast, characters, stunning visuals and a lot of fun. 6/10 |
Dead Pool 2016
Turned it off when the film came to the strip club scene. 2/10 |

Basically you rarely see men as strippers in movies. Its always women of a fairly specific body type. Movies usually make stripping out to be a sexy fun time for the viewers and the women. From what I've read women get into stripping due to poverty. Often also prostituting themselves. Teenagers will be seeing Dead Pool and other movies like it. Along with magazines, advertisements, etc they're fed this unreal/false ideal of females, what they look like, and they all want to fuck you. Adults too see this sort of thing constantly. It rewires your brain. There's a lot more, but like I said don't wanna start a debate. |
^ Hun, if you don't watch Deadpool for those reasons, then I'm sorry to say, but you probably shouldn't watch any movie. Sexism is in everything. And I mean everything.
- The Breed (2001) Vampires not dogs. Do people even know of this movie's existence? It's not by critic standards a good movie (I should really review it sometime to point this out, but if you watched it I think you would see why), but God help me I love this movie... Nay, I adore it. Call it a guilty pleasure I guess. The broody atmosphere with the characters they throw in... I got so obsessed with this thing I actually watched it with commentary once, and you kind of get the feel that these people had fun with this shitfest. I'm just so glad I bought the VHS. Now I have proper background noise. ..If I can keep it as just noise and not pay too much attention to it when I need to. |

Back to the movie. I think you mostly see female strippers because most men like females, so they tend to go to female strip clubs. That's just logic imo. I agree on the body type. But that's considered beauty to the average person so again I think it's logical. Stripping is supposed to be fun for the viewers. I think that's the point of stripping. In most movies I've seen they don't make it seem fun for the women. Maybe in PG-13 movies or stuff like that but that's because they don't deal with the harsh reality. They're meant to be lighthearted and entertaining. You say movies, magazines, advertisments have a bad influence on people. True. That's the way the world is. Teenagers are stupid. Adults are stupid. People in general are feckin' stupid. That's it. But you're letting your personal opinion get in the way of enjoying a movie. And that's too bad. It's a movie. An action-comedy. Not a raw drama. So why expect realism? Why watch movies in general? There's probably something unreal in every movie. |
I don't even remember a stripper in Dead Pool. And I've seen the movie twice. ::big grin::

Dirty Grandpa (2016)
B- Better than I expected. Jason Mantzoukas (Rafi from The League) stole the show though. I wish there were more old geezer comedies. Last Vegas, Tough Guys, Grumpy Old Men, Bubba Ho-Tep,... |
