as for amelie....didn't seem to be my "sort" of film, hence it hit the back-burner

I Drink Your Blood

Silly, yet entertaining hippie horror flick. There are a few good gore scenes, but the plot is thin at best. That ending was quite possibly the most nonsensical ending I've seen yet. Still a fairly solid effort though. Overall: 6/10

newb 02-20-2006 09:38 AM

The Weatherman - more of a dramedy. Good performance's from Nick Cage and the always great Michael Caine.

Domino-Pretty good, very loosly"based on fact" story of Domino Harvey, daughter of actor Laurence Harvey, model turned bounty hunter. Not too crazy about the MTV style of filmaking [ lots of fast cuts ] but Keira Knightley is always easy on the eyes and Mickey Roarke gives another fine performance.

Pink Panther- I was very hesitant about seeing this one [Steve Martin could never replace Peter Sellers ] but it got pretty good reviews. My fears were realized....this was a bad idea.I don't think i laughed out-loud once.....maybe a slight smile but that could have been gas.

malevolence.not a bad little indie....it was worth five dollars.

Elf ~ Completely ridiculous (which was the point...lol), but cute. And one of the few times I could stand watching Will Ferrell for more than ten minutes at a time. I have come to the conclusion I can watch ANY film with James Caan, no matter how absurd.

The Thing ~ Carpenter's excellent remake of course. Brilliant film. I really need to add this to my collection soon.

Point Break~ Patrick Swayze at his best, in my opinion.....:D I am not ashamed to admit it, I love this movie. lol

It was a Starz free preview weekend.....:p

jenna26 02-20-2006 11:25 AM

Oh and I forgot one: I watched the remake of Assault on Precinct 13 the other night on HBO.....and didn't hate it. And that is saying a lot, because I really expected to. Doesn't even touch the original though. Entertaining enough, I suppose. But I am not buying Ethan Hawke as a bad ass cop. Nope, sorry. ;)

Ghosts of Mars, It was like Assault on Preceinct 13 + The Thing x a popcorn flick. Not Carpenter's best but it was fun.

I liked it too. Though, was it just me, or did it seem to goet very slow at parts?

I watched Friday the 13th again today. Haven't seen it in a long time. I had as much as a fun time as I did the first time I seen it (which means I loved it).

Posher778 02-20-2006 06:47 PM

oof i hate friday the 13th. i ONLY like the part when that one girl gets whacked in the face with the cleaver.

There were slow spots for sure, and a flashback in a flashback in a flashback... lol. But it was fun.

I remember that flashback scene. I was so goddamned confused! But, it was fun some good "popcorn flick" fun!

Ill have to pick that one up. Saw it when it first came out and thought it was great for what it was.

Im off to watch The Maltese Falcon...

urgeok 02-21-2006 07:50 AM

The Rundown is a fun action movie.

Peter Berg is proving himself to be a very good director (ex actor) who has a great feel for humor as well as action.

The Rock has an undeniably likeable presence on screen ...

and Walken to boot !

Dog Soldiers

I put off watching this movie for a long, long time, as I don't really care for werewolf films in general, but I have to say that I was really surprised by this one. It suffers from shaky-camera syndrome in some scenes, but it's not too distracting. I'm definitely going to seek out Neil Marshall's other films. Overall: 8/10

Outstanding film; it always makes my top ten list. And Cronenberg is definitely one of my favorite directors.

The American President was the last movie I watched. Another I have watched so much that I can recite the dialogue, embarassingly enough....lol...one of my favorite romances....

Saw II
No spoilers, dont worry

This is a film that, upon second viewing, found me thinking "You dumbass" quite frequently. Definatly still a good film, but 2-3 characters in particular are incredibly stupid. The acting, script, effects, and twists, for the most part, are improved upon from the original, however they still arent that great. Aside from the twists of course, which I found pretty amusing.

8.5/10

One problem I had with it though:

*HUGE SPOILERS*

Perhaps this was intentional, but Xavier didnt have a friggin number on his neck!! You couldnt really see if he did or not when he ripped the chunk off his neck, but earlier on in the film we had a clear shot of the back of his head/neck....and NO NUMBER. So, do you guys think this was intentional or just a stupid mistake?

*END SPOILERS*

EDIT- Various typos

The Maltese Falcon

This here, folks, is a classy movie. Sam Spade has got to be one of the coolest characters Ive ever seen, played by the ever-slick Humphrey Bogart. The rest of the cast were great as well, especially Astor and Lorre. The plot kept me guessing until the final frame, and that last shot was phenominal.

Domino

A decent flick, but definitely not great. The first hour was good and entertaining, but the second hour drags on and has a lot of flashbacks within flashbacks within flashbacks. I hate those! They confuse the hell out of me! I'm glad to see Mickey Rourke and Christopher Walken in here. They're great actors, and proved it here (no surprise). And Keira Knightley is hot as hell, and that lap dance scene made me "REAL HAPPY"! Though, how the fuck did Macy Gray get a role in here? I hate that bitch!

3 out of 5 stars

AUSTIN316426808 02-21-2006 07:16 PM

@Return- I've got a theory but not a strong one...

Could be intentional because everybody had their own certain thing to do for antidote and that may've been his.

AUSTIN316426808 02-22-2006 05:09 AM

Psycho

That look Perkins does at the end is freakin creepy.

PeaSoupintheye 02-22-2006 07:47 AM

Just watched ' Intermission' starring Colin Farrell. I thought this was a decent enough movie. It was kinda like a cross between Trainspotting, Riff Raff, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrells and Twin Towns but not as good.

Colin farrell plays a local scumbag and he plays it ok but it's not his best performance by any means.

There are some funny scenes and it does have a gritty feel to it...so all in all a good(ish) movie.

The Flayed One 02-22-2006 08:49 AM

Her Name is Carla

Strange little artsy, dialogue driven mystery. Has Julian Sands in it! All in all, it did its job and kept me guessing. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes movies along the lines of 'The Swimming Pool.'
