Anyway you know me. Always up for watching anything lycan! Despite the trailer looking painfully low budget. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4G0ClUKwtk
It does look nicely suspenseful, and i don't think it gave anything much away, which is rare in trailers these days. But then again it is from like... 2-3 years ago?

I always feel shame when I'm shown or asked about werewolf movies and it ends up being one I haven't seen. But honestly, if I wasn't recommended or asked about something new to me, then I would feel like I'm wasting my time here. So thanks, Baron. ::smile::

No problem. It might be crap indeed but anytime I read about a werewolf movie I think "Better mention that to Roiffalo."

I'm having trouble remembering exactly what/who this was, but I'm pretty sure it was a TV ep. A woman, or man & woman are taken into a fallout shelter by a tense survivalist who tells them nuclear war broke out. She finds a radio and a normal broadcast, and realizes the survivalist is deceiving her to keep her there.

I think it was a Criminal Minds ep, but not sure.

I found other cinema on shelters though:

For some reason I never got around to watch it until now.
And it's a little gem. But I might help if you have a certain admiration for Bruce Campbell and Elvis Presley.

Second viewing since the release.
I think I liked it more than the first time I saw it.
Probably my favorite M. Night Shyamalan movie.
I'd love to see more similar movies. A cop of sorts vs some evil that's undeniably supernatural. Good stuff...

Damn! Eng subs are still not available online! This is mostly a French thriller with only few English conversations here & there. So didn't get that "twist" at the end::mad::
If anybody have seen this seemingly interesting psycho-thriller please pm me about what actually did happened at the end! ::embarrassment::
I have this guess though....***SPOILER**Both Jack & Veronique are (or only Veronique) their delusional children who hides/forgets about their real identity & kills people on the road when they/she gets away from the home!?!

Recently saw The Witch in cinemas.
I really liked it. Unnerving and creepy. Very well made.
4/5

Also watched The Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014) on Netflix.
It was OK. Some of the killing scenes were fun. It's a little bit too stylish. The style was distracting at times.

ImmortalSlasher 03-16-2016 11:16 AM

I haven't reviewed or posted in this topic for a while. But here is a bunch of stuff I've watched that's all horror.

Luther

I posted this in the movie section because BBC has it on demand as one whole movie. I think it was broken up in different parts for normal viewing depending on your location. It's like Manhunter. Very dark. I stopped watching CSI and NCIS long ago. And this is a far better police / detective type show. I think it's going to be a true full movie next. I can't wait. The lead actor is going to be in Dark Tower. I've heard about the books but never read them. But it's something I look forward to seeing.

Jessabelle

Bad twist and I mean bad. I don't want to spoil the movie but it reminded me of a similar if not the same twist in another horror movie set in the South with I guess a popular blonde actress. The movie was fairly passable up until that point. The usual ghost dealings. Nothing really offensive if you like horror or ghost movies. The lead actress was fine. It's almost like the fairly recent When a Stranger Calls, even if the movie isn't that good, if you have a strong and pretty lead in a good horror setting they can hold the movie. She has a funny scene drinking whiskey and reading a romance novel in the middle of the night before deciding to watch another VHS tape with her dead and crazy tarot card reading Mother. But the movie has what should forever be called stupid stuff white people do in horror movies. It happens a bunch of times here and makes you question the characters, writers, and director.

The Gallows

I didn't get ending. I had to read the wiki. This really came off as Found Footage 101. Nothing really remarkable at all. One maybe two good shots or scares. And I think they were both used in the trailer. One is actually the poster. It's really a by the numbers reality horror movie. It had no business in a theater.

Unfriended

A few people reviewed this movie a while ago. There was a bit of back and forth. I think one person liked it a lot. Most didn't like it. I felt that it was experimental. Really not worthy of a full movie and barely a horror movie. I stopped watching after the first minute or so. I couldn't believe that I would actually have to give effort to watching the computer monitors and reading / noting what was going on. But I went back and put up with it. I doubt many will or could watch this multiple times like a Halloween or other classic horror movie.

It's called "Unfriended" but none of them are really friends. They are probably in the top three of bad horror movie "friends" that I've ever seen. The one person that really doesn't belong doesn't last long at all. I remember posting about the twist back in those previous posts. I still think there is a twist. But it's handled so poorly that it's unbelievable. I reviewed another movie once dealing with the supernatural and technology. Here apparently the supernatural knows how to use technology better than the characters.

Unfriended and The Gallows must be word of mouth things. I can't believe the budgets of both and the amount of money they managed to make. Blumhouse Productions was involved in both. Maybe people notice that name similar to Bad Robot and check it out. I don't know. But both Unfriended and The Gallows are poor horror movies.

Exists

I didn't like it that much at first. It has the usual setup for horror movies. We've all seen it before. Friends, rundown cabin in the middle of no where, etc. Apparently Bigfoot is confirmed to be real and has been sighted by many people. That's a surprise to me. But when Bigfoot attacks and we know why, you kind of want Bigfoot to win. At least more than you really want a Jason or Freddy to win. I'm still not crazy about a lot of found footage movies and this one is kind of annoying with the moving camera. But when we need a good shot we get it. Like a few awesome shots of Bigfoot running and chasing people. It's not the best nor the worst movie.

Scream 3

I don't remember Scream 2 and I've seen it twice. It was really forgettable I guess. I remember seeing a bit of Scream 3 before but I only recalled seeing Carrie Fisher's scene. I think the Scream movies all have a popular culture sort of topic going threw them. The original Scream was about the state of horror movies and breaking them down. Maybe that's why it's the best with all the horror references, music, and cameos. From what I remember of Scream 2, it was about real killers in the news I think. At least I remember OJ being mentioned and his story is back in the news again with a TV show and supposedly murder weapon found after all this time. Scream 3 is about what goes on behind the scenes in Hollywood. Something I think many know or have heard rumors about. So I don't think this movie breaks any new ground. It ties up the trilogy but do horror movies need trilogies or need to have story lines wrapped up like normal movies? I can't think of a good horror movie trilogy at all. And at the end of Scream 3, I didn't feel a sense of a completed journey like in many trilogies.

Scream 4

Scream 4 is easily the best after the original. The original is a classic. The music and songs, lines, characters, settings, and discussion. I love the VHS rental store scene. There isn't anything like that in Scream 4 that's fun and shows the new method of watching horror movies. It would have been interesting since Blockbuster and others are gone and many download or just have cable and on demand for movies.

I did notice that town looks different in Scream 4. In the original there are a lot of shots with mountains. I had to look it up and I was right. It was filmed in a different location. I guess they received some monetary breaks for filming in a different location. I did like the opening scene. It's not as good as original opening but still it was exciting and it got me.

I was surprised at ending reveal. I don't want to spoil it but I was surprised because of a certain change. This Scream movie seems to have the nature of celebrity as a theme. In a way though the movie is structured almost like a remake. But the new male characters are bland unlike in the original. They have some funny moments but none make a real impact where as in the original all the characters were great. Emma Roberts is good in this but to me the stand out new performance was from Hayden Panettiere. I've never seen her in anything before and she steals the show in all her scenes. Overall I think Scream 4 is the sequel to own and worthy of going with the first Scream. But I think the movie knows it's lesser when a character even says "don't mess with the original."

Exists is the best Bigfoot movie so far imo.

Joy Ride 3

Watched while recovering from the flu today. If I wasn't feeling so drained I'd have plenty to say about it. But I'll try.

The first movie was definitely the best of the three. The characters were so fucking stupid and the story so dull I didn't give a rat's ass when any of them died.

The movie started off with Rusty Nail killing a couple of crack addicts, and soon followed by police looking over the scene. For a moment it looked like maybe one of the cops would be the main focus and possibly match wits with our killer at last. But naaaaah that would've been ORIGINAL.

So instead we follow the same over used at this point shtick of taking one of the pretty people from the group and using that to make the rest of the group puppets and do whatever he wants. AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN DO THAT. Even after member after member of the their group dies they continue to not play along with Rusty's rules.

Oh and unlike the first two where we see very little of Rusty, in this one they all but show him. At one point we can CLEARLY see his face but the shot is still filmed like we aren't supposed to notice like he's so scary cause we can't see this whimsical stranger. ::roll eyes::

I agree completely. I liked 'i am legend'. Has cool start, but definitely appears more flat and cliche when it tries to expand the plot and characters past Smith by himself.

Though it had it's flaws, I found this to be a great movie. Also the cinematography was to die for. I give it a solid 7/10.

Yeah... which makes a lot of sense showing that he survives the end of the last movie (the devil only knows how, I think he's a poltergeist at this point) but not how the fuck he survived the end of the second one where he and his rig went over a cliff. ::roll eyes::

I do love Rusty though. He and Harry are both under appreciated in the horror franchise. I was lucky to find them by accident when they should get as much recognition as the more popular horror icons like Jason and Micheal.
But yeah he needs better movies. Partial reason I disliked the third so much. Cause it had potential, but decided to go the cliche route and add characters with less brain than a houseplant.

I'm guessing by your rating that you didn't like it. I thought it was good....until the end. I think the director (or writer, or whoever) screwed it up with that ending. They should have stopped as she was walking into the woods.
