"Slumber Party Massacre" is a pretty cool low budget film. :)

I bought "Evil Dead 1 & 2" unrated. Part 2 is okay, but nothing can touch Raimi's first one. :) The best kill scene is that unholy wailing from Demon Sheryl when that sacrificial dagger was shoved in her back and twitchin around spurtin all that red and white goo from her mouth and wounds. :) 'Got milk?' :D

i didnt know how i felt about it at first but by the middle of the film i was enjoying it ..

i loved the 'Wild Things' style of unravelling the mystery ..

hellfire1 02-06-2006 07:49 AM

the fact that i had to watch it in french didn't really help, but it was alright i guess. but like you said, i smiled a couple of times, but never really laughed outright. so... eh... :)

and now i'm off to watch bambi 2. lol

the dubbing would have damaged the effect somewhat as the voicework was pretty good (especially the wolf and the frog)

the singing goat was a highlight ..

Night of the Living Dead (Savini remake)
I just watched that again too - it's not terribly gory, which might be surprising considering the capabilities of the director (perhaps he had his hands full - someone else did the FX).

But this turns out to be the film's virtue - comparing it with Land of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead remake and the other contemporary zombie movies, this one is impressively restrained and retains Romero's dark, depressing vision with some nice twists of its own (from his own new script, of course).

Buncha yo-yos.

yeah... it wasnt until they started to show the little bit of gore at the end that i first noticed it's absence (due to my interest in the characters)

I thought the whole cast was solid and Tony Todd did a fine job ..
Notice how big that guy is .. his head almost touches the doorframe ..
I met him in the summer and the 1st thing i said was .. "jesus christ how big are your shoes" :D size 15s ... they looked like snowshoes

i was suprised to see Bill Mosley playing Barbras brother ...

one of my favorite remakes ..

PR3SSUR3 02-06-2006 08:48 AM

Sadly one of the last capable of being self-referential without needing to be so self-satisfied.

Who's Bill Mosley again?

there certainly were a couple of interesting references ..
the blood being splashed on the tool in the basement .
(wasnt that what the dead little girl used in the origional ?)

and the sherrif ... using the 'all messed up' line
(Kind of wished they hadnt used that one ..)

I liked the end title sequence and the music quite a bit too.

TCM2 and rob Zombies pair of films ...
seems to be a forum favorite here...

PR3SSUR3 02-06-2006 09:03 AM

Oh yeah, "Chop-Top" - he didn't look old enough in the NOTLD remake, but guess it was made 15 years ago.

Tom Towles was highly disagreeable in this, talk about a chip on the shoulder...

All Souls Day: Dia de los Muertos

Waste of time and money. Thankfully I only rented it, but Id still like to have that couple bucks back. For the first half or so, it introduced, and ruined, what could have been a decent zombie scenario. Once the zombies showed up, they proceded to use every worn-out cliche in the book. One of the "hightlights" was a zombie getting shotgunned point blank....and FALLING OVER. No blood, no gore, he just fell over. Near the end there was a bit of OK gore, but nothing worth wasting your time for.

4/10

Aragami: Raging God of Battle - Good movie, one room 3 people... interesting ending too (especially if you've seen Versus).

Brain Dead - This one was alright, I liked the ending and some of the little twists this movie makes. Unfortuanatly for this movie it twists around a little much and instead of moving forward it just sort of circles about itself. Not that it was bad, there were some great moments, unfortuanatly what was between them was forgettable. Pullman was good though.

lol@that title. :D Sometimes a corny title like that says something about the movie. ;)

Once in a while, I'll see titles of movies really crack me up. Like this 1941 Bela Lugosi film called "The Invisible Ghost". Almost as ridiculous as saying 'The Cold Ice Cube' or 'The Hot Fire'. :)

Inhumanities II

Exactly like Faces Of Death and Traces Of Death, but in my opinion it was a better than Faces and not quite as good as Traces.

The first 45 minutes were great but the last part of the film was quite bored. Not bad but it could be better

I just bought and watched Monster Man. I didn't quite dig the cheese as much as everyone else who recommended it to me, but damn was the monster design cool!
