This wasn't bad but not as good as The Chaser, in which I adore. The two films have nothing in commom but just one Korean actor I fuckin' love. He is pictured below. ::love::

They did have some badass fight scenes where they used hatchets. : )

I was looking forward to this. I love stories when the victim ends up being the fucked up one. It started great and the premise promising but just wasn't fucked enough, I wanted to see some depraved shit but nah, just was talked about. Rory Culkin was excellent as usual.

Still many memorable scenes and ace performances by Samuel L Jackson, John travolta, Bruce Willis, Ving Rhames and Harvey Keitel. ***1/2

Buscemi would have been great in the role. I didn't mind Taranquento's role, but yea, it was just a little jarring - made me aware I was watching a film. I don't know if I'd say his acting was bad there or not. I believed he was that person, that character was pretty ambiguous; but I didn't get the feeling he would be a part of that criminal element, but then again, the film presents those guys that way.

What scenes did you find way too long?

Lord Voldemort 01-17-2016 12:21 AM

Mockingbird. Wasn't all that thrilled by it, considering all the buzz I heard.

Damn this movie was a fucking trip... You kind of see everything coming but you want to know how it all turns out, and it was pretty good in the very end. I rather liked it.

Thought it was alright.

The lead actress reminded me of Kate Hudson. So... that's good.

Spectre (2015)
B/C
Has some great scenes but also some stupid ones.
The recycling of an old bad guy was pretty weak. And a couple of extra gadgets wouldn't be bad either.

Moonwalkers (2015)
B+

Starring Rupert Grint and Ron Perlman
"An unstable CIA agent (Ron Perlman) goes to England and has to team up with a seedy rock band manager (Rupert Grint) to develop the biggest con of all time, staging the moon landing."

This movie came out of nowhere and pleasantly surprised me.
It has a bit of everything and as a whole it's a fun and original ride.
Ron Perlman was excellent.

Preservation

So a husband and wife go on a camping trip with the husband's brother who was discharged from some form of service with his dog. When watching this movie expect two things. 1) The husband to be an annoying dumbass that you want to stab in the eyes. 2) Don't look for this to end well for the dog.

If you can get through the first two thirds of the movie then the last third gets a lot more interesting. The tables turn and somehow it's the pregnant vegan female who is the one left alive to survive. Not the ex-military guy.

I was kinda shocked at that mostly because we don't get much time to spend with the brothers, and the whole time I'm getting to know them I want one to die and the other to get some psychiatric help. Whatever. They're dead at this point and I don't care.

And am I the only one who wants to be in a horror movie to show these stupid fucks how NOT to be an idiot? You don't turn your back on the killer, even if you think he's dead. If you kill him you didn't kill him good enough. Putting yourself out in the open gets you shot at. If someone takes all your shit then ties water from a tree along side the road where you can perfectly see it, then it's OBVIOUSLY a trap. If the killer's on the phone with his mother why wouldn't you scream and get that stupid little fucker grounded forever?! And if your hands are free when you're being strangled go for the fucking eyes!!

Oh and at the very end instead of going to the cops or calling the cops she stands in the middle of a grocery store parking lot and plays hand guns with a kid by his mother putting bags in the car. WHAT?

No doubt. [SPOILER] This happened three times in this movie! Completely ruined it for me, I was actually infuriated by the third time.

I admit I actually kinda liked that part, but yeah it was WTF.

Jeremy1986 01-18-2016 02:02 AM

I really liked this movie. It's not a horror film, but I think it does a great job paying homage to the 80s slasher films.

Bone Tomahawk

I'll be honest, guys. I turned it off. It was a bit too gruesome for me.

cheebacheeba 01-18-2016 06:46 AM

There was only really one part I'd consider all that gruesome - and if you got that far you're actually pretty close to the end, it doesn't get any worse than that.

I watched thelast 1/3 of Final Girls after delaying it for about a month for no apparent reason. It's not a bad movie. Original enough. Didn't find it all that great but yeah, probably worth a watch for most.

Circle
I kind of found this pretty pointless - I found "exam" to be a better example of this.

Spectre 6.5/10

Skyfall was so much better.

Baron Von Marlon 01-18-2016 07:23 PM

Been doing some re-watching due to lack of new movies.

Monster Man (2003)
B
"Two guys and a female hitchhiker are terrorized by a monstrous looking man driving a giant monster truck."
Second viewing.
With a title like that you'd expect a crapyy B or C flick but this one's actually quite alright. I'd say everything's a little bit better than average for this kind of movie.

Project X (2012)
B
Second viewing. Still pretty decent.
Like it or not, but I think it's a near perfect execution of the concept.
Read about a sequel. Could be fun.

Drag Me To Hell (2009)
C
To me this movie is a bit like a light version of Evil Dead.
It's not actually bad, but it doesn't feel right to me.

An American Ghost Story

Omg I'm dying. I might have to make this one a review because the first, the FIRST thing that starts to act weird, drives the wife to act like a lunatic.

Chairs move and cabinets open in AAGS:

Chairs move and cabinets open in Poltergeist:
http://orig07.deviantart.net/73ef/f/...rd-d9ohb4q.png
(Rephrased for comedic effect, but you get the idea. Diane Freeling handled her situation like a boss. This woman in this movie is a bag of cats and will not be missed.)

If these people can't get past cabinets trying to fly and an AOL mail notification, then they're screwed.

Rest of the movie is the writer guy being an idiot. Who lives in a haunted house KNOWING what happened in it and how many lives were ruined because of the spirits inside? Apparently this moron! To sum up this movie, if you're afraid of bed sheet ghosts, then this movie will traumatize you.

ONE scene in Beetlejuice summarizes why this movie does NOT work and was likely made my high school kids:

Jeezus, one more movie like this and I start an old reliable marathon of classic slashers and monsters.

How 'bout it! I lost patience at that point too! Only reason I finished it was to see if the little fuckers got dead for the dog.

Hilarious review! This line needs to be framed. The captioned screencaps are a nice touch.

What scenes did you find way too long?

1-Vincents date with Mia could have been trimmed
2-The bit with Butch's taxi ride, annoying girlfriend/watch really dragged out.
3-Was hoping Jules would have popped Yolanda to shut her up and avoid the philosophy lesson.

I know this makes me sound anal...thought PF was/is pretty good, but prefer RESERVOIR DOGS overall as it's lean and mean.

STAR WARS (2015). My wife LOVES the first three (not so much the second trilogy), so we caught this at a matinee I'm not a huge SW fan, but she enjoyed it. Thought it was pretty good overall and always nice to see Harrison Ford, but once was enough for me. ***
