I vote for Carrie, as a movie I think it it is better, though if it was based on the novels I would vote differently.

alkytrio666 04-29-2008 02:52 PM

Fight Club.

Rayne, you've got to escape the box. Don't get me worng- I love horror. But I'd say that if I were to name the greatest movies I've ever seen, 1-2% would be horror.

The fact is, it's a miniscule genre among a welath of fantastic movies.

---------------

Some movies just aren't for everyone's taste, Return. I've been baffled for a long while as to why you reject Jaws and The Exorcist. :o (Both of which I consider to be far superior to Cronenberg's The Fly).

Fight Club

as for me - not that anyone asked or cares - i thought fight club was overrated. it, like american beauty, were touted as super-smart, slick, complex critiques of american culture but in the end, for me, both failed to live up to their promise and fell into some fairly predictable cliches.

i think for me that's more true of american beauty - which i absolutely loathed - and probably some of that loathing splashed on to fight club - but i think both are instance of mainstream commercial holliywood 'playing' indie without really being brave enough to have indie sensibilities

but i'm just a monkey so what do i know

GorePhobia 04-29-2008 03:19 PM

Fight Club for me as well.

ManchestrMorgue 04-29-2008 03:46 PM

Sounds a lot like the way I feel about American Beauty but I did enjoy Fight Club personally. That said, my vote goes to Carrie without a second of hesitation.

I'm starting to appreciate The Exorcist...gave it another shot a few months back and enjoyed it more than I had.

Still haven't given Jaws another chance...I get paid in a couple days, might need to pick it up.

Posher778 04-29-2008 05:37 PM

Fight Club...

Definately. Don't watch it as a horror movie, and forget any reputation it's accumulated...just watch it as pure escapism.

11-9, Fight Club EVENTUALLY edges out Carrie.

(gosh! Make my job of counting votes hard, whydoncha?) :p

alkytrio666 04-29-2008 09:47 PM

It's too bad, because The Wicker Man is an extraordinary film.

But, yeah, I'm gonna have to go with the rightfully crowned best picture of 2007.

jenna26 04-29-2008 10:25 PM

As much as I love The Wicker Man, I have to say No Country for Old Men as well.

roshiq 04-29-2008 11:23 PM

No country for Wicker man:rolleyes: !~?.....okay then, I vote The Wicker Man.

GorePhobia 04-30-2008 04:44 AM

Wow I can't believe someone actually voted for Wicker Man. I expect Rayne to also vote for it if she votes.

Of course for me it is definitely No Country For Old Men.

_____V_____ 04-30-2008 04:49 AM

5-1, No Country For Old Men sizzles over The Wicker Man.
