I'll add this to my list. I stumbled across a call girl/stripper/hooker story on the Internet recently. Kind of shocking that these girls actually go to the homes of people. Seems like asking for trouble.

I reviewed almost all of those last year for Halloween except the last one. I remember really not liking Hellworld. The twist was terrible.

Has its moments but overal it was just another superhero movie.
The fighting scenes are starting to feel like the fighting in the old Batman series.
"Kapow! And it's getting boring. Or I'm getting old.

I actually kinda dug Ant-Man, and I usually don't like superhero movies.

Chernobyl Diaries (2012)

I wish I would have known that the screenplay was written by Shane Van Dyke, and if you don't know who that is, he directed a movie called Titanic II (yes, it's a real movie). Had I been aware of this unfortunate fact, I would have been spared of wasting 88 minutes on this laughably bad The Hills Have Eyes rip-off. In Chernobyl Diaries, six tourists hire a tour guide to take them into the abandoned city of Pripyat, where workers for the Chernobyl nuclear reactor used to live. After a few lame jump scares, the crew begins to suspect that the town isn't completely abandoned. Oren Peli came up with the story, and it's pretty obvious since there's not much action until the very end. This has never been much of a problem for me as long as the movie can conjure up a creepy atmosphere and some good suspense. What this movie does instead is try to scare the audience with a ton of fake jump scares and age-old cliches. It doesn't make for an entertaining movie when the characters keep making the same stupid mistakes every other movie character has made before. Watching a bunch of dimwits getting killed off in the dark is just predictable. However, the real atrocity here is the cinematography. For the first thirty minutes of the film, I was convinced this was a found footage flick because of how god damn shaky the camera was. It looked like this was filmed by a blender. Other than a decently interesting setting, Chernobyl Diaries is an embarrassingly awful movie that uses all the worst horror tropes.

Very agreed... It should have been so good.

"I-Lived" 6/10

The story had potential to be another 13 Sins, but sadly the pacing wasn't there.

With a nose job the lead actor could play Jamie Bell's double. Now you know.

"The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials" 8/10

Almost as good as the first one. Only thing missing was a maze. But they sure did run.

Mainly lame. There were some mildly entertaining moments, but you figure out what the obvious twist has been pretty much at the beginning of the film. I wouldn't say it isn't worth watching for a horror fan, but it also isn't a film I plan on viewing again. =/

Dawn of the Dead

I did not hate it like I thought I would, not being a huge (or even small) zombie fan. It was enjoyable (despite some very stupid characters making some very stupid decisions) and I was actually squirming in my seat for a scene. ::big grin::

My favorite character died... that made me sad. ...But then again so did everyone else.

Thanks, Repo!

Repo'd 11-17-2015 07:48 PM

My pleasure, Roi. It's not a bad Z flick at all. You had a favorite character? Hmm, I'll ponder which doomed bastard it was.

Anyone out there seen Butterfly Room yet? Watched it again tonight.

If it's not Scraps, then yes. ::confused::

Ohhhh, I didn't see that clue! Ha..ok, it's definitely not Scraps. Yeah, that guy was a pretty cool anti-hero. I liked Sarah Polley's character a lot too. Her performance was understated, which played her against all of the other scenery chewers in the cast.

You can watch it for free per the director. I don't think there is a DVD release as of yet.

Terminator: Genesis

Keeping this short and posting about this here because the original Terminator and T2 are scary sci-fi / horror movies.

Everyone who likes James Cameron's Terminator films knows how awesome they are. Most of those also know that every Terminator movie and to some extent the TV show after those first two movies suck. Genesis is no different.

The Wolfpack

Documentary about seven children raised in isolation in the projects in the Lower East Side of New York City. Interesting, disturbing, fascinating. I don't know whether to feel sorry for them, or admire them for surviving such a strange upbringing.

Ant-Man

fun movie......I'm a fan of Paul Rudd so that may have played into my short review.

Rickie & The Flash

Watched this with Mrs Newb....figured she would like it.....not bowled away

The Hallow

Pretty decent little creature feature set in Ireland
