Circle (2015)
http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps2l0xgy8q.jpg Fifty strangers wake up in a dark room, where they are standing in two concentric circles and have little memory of how they got there. They immediately learn that unseen forces will vaporize them if they move and that even keeping still is no guarantee of safety; and soon they realize that the group itself is somehow collectively deciding who lives and who dies. A pretty good dialog-driven sci-fi thriller. Recommended. >>: B+ Howl (2015) http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps1dfbzwtj.jpg >>: B |

Puppet Master 4
...did I post here I saw 3... oh well I saw that too. I swear they're doing a roulette of plots for these. First two were fairly consecutive, third was a flashback, and fourth is back in the present I guess but they don't seem to be pissed off at Toulon anymore? There's also so much wrong with the continuities. In the second movie Tunneler was dead, in this one he wasn't. In the first movie the Jester was the last puppet Toulon ever made, in the third one it was made before even hook hand guy (i don't know his nickname). Six Shooter was in both the third and fourth but where was he in the first two? Leech face was apparently Toulon's wife but why was he trying to summon her into a full size puppet then in the end of the second one... Just a bunch of confusing continuity screw ups. I don't see how they had so many sequels. |
The Haunting in Connecticut. Holy jump scares Batman! Bored me to tears. ::sad::

Minions (2015)
B- Overal not bad but I expected something different. Spoiler 'I was hoping the story would be about the minions as a group and not about 3 minions on some quest.' Best thing about the movie was the music. I think most if not all songs were pre 1980. A minion even played a bit of Van Halen's Eruption. |

"The Hallow"/"The Woods" 7-8/10 Ever since I saw the movie poster on the front page of IMDB titled as The Woods I kinda hoped this would be the horror movie to beat this year coz the story sounded sweeet. Sadly, it's not quite. You have to wait almost half the movie before the shit hits the fan, but when it does creatures pops out everywhere and the action doesn't stop before the credits starts to roll. The creatures are well made and the fx are nice. My biggest problem was the mom. Her actions (or lack thereof) pissed me off. Also when the action begins the story kinda falls flat. There ya go. See it and judge for yourself. |
I'm trying to watch VHS: Viral... I liked the first one and the second entertained me enough but I don't know if I can finish this one.

Crimson Peak
Loved it! Great gothic atmosphere and sets. Great talent on screen and behind the camera and all are at the top of their game. Tough to pull off some of the histrionics and uber dramatic bits, but the whole ensemble nail it. I have a feeling this will disappoint fans looking for a horror movie or a startling paranormal adventure. It's a gothic romance, as Guillermo Del Toro has pointed out often, so it has elements of horror but it's not your standard genre film. See it on the big screen, cuz this one is done on a pretty grand scale. |

Big Ass Spider!
It has Greg Grunberg. He was my favorite character in Heroes. He was not in this. It was actually good though. I enjoyed it and was actually more freaked out by the spider kills than I thought I would be. "In the butt?" "In the butt." |

Mr. Holmes (2015)
http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/...pspampysp0.jpg An instant masterpiece that not only provides a moving tribute to Holmes legacy but also beautifully captures the solitude of world's greatest detective, his struggle to cope with it & the life lessons or ultimate mystery that lies beyond sharp observation & logic. The senior Magneto just nailed the part. >>: A Visions (2015) http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/...psev8o0jy0.jpg When again a film comes with such a cliched synopsis "after moving into somewhere, a pregnant woman begins to experience terrifying visions...," glad at the end it didn't turn out like a conventional ghost story. Pretty well made with a fine pace. Liked it. >>: B+ The Hallow aka The Woods (2015) http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/...psncfckzsp.jpg A decent monster horror flick. Z for Zachariah A I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very similar to The Road and I thought the acting was done very well. If you're looking for an action flick, this has very little. Beautiful story. |

![]() "Bone Tomahawk" 8/10 More of a road movie than horror. I'm sure we all would've prefered it the other way around. But that doesn't take away that everything, from the actors to the production, was class. It even had funny dialogue from time to time. Only thing missing was Val Kilmer playing a doctor and we'd have ourself a Tombstone with cannibals. DOESN'T THAT SOUND AWSOME?!! 2 hours and 10 minutes well spent. Then came the ending. WTF??? "Was that a gunshot?" "Yes it was" THE END ::confused:: |
Looks like I'll be looking into Bone Tomahawk ::smile::
For now though: Exeter Had Foscoe from Person of Interest in it before his brains got blown out. (that's not much of a spoiler btw) This was actually an enjoyable movie though. Intense, good effects, interesting back story. Quote:

They Found Hell 2015
SyFy channel movie. A bunch of students dressed like the cast of 90210 open up a portal to hell. At least I assume so, I couldn't take more than 30 minutes. Acting, bad. Story, bad. Sets bad. This film steals scenes and themes from various movies, altering them a little so as, I assume, not to be too close to the original. Silent Hill, The Shining, Evil Dead, etc. Its not a homage, its using them to write a story instead of something original. 2/10 |
