Lincoln is a metalhead. He is bullied at school so one day he fights back and gets sent to a camp for troubled teenagers. Even there he gets picked on, so enters Moira, a dead teenager who went through the same..and shes willing to help him, anyway she can...blood will be shed..

It started out promising but seemed to get more cliche as it went on. I wanted to love it, but in the end had to give it 6/10, like you did. Good soundtrack though, and worth the watch.

Exeter 2015

3/10 D+

Exeter is a trainwreck... like a real one, not the metaphor.

Exeter is a movie-screen wildly stoned with horror clichés. Motivations, logic & story are thrown out -- it's simply fast-paced, very fast-paced. So fast-paced as to almost be a new genre, but not quite.

There's average gore, violence, swearing, jokes, but it's so fast & without sufficient framework & footing, it all seems slung from your blindspot, where one might just feel assaulted.

Its lack of logical story & gore/violence is common to a Lucio Fulci, but none of the art. Fast-paced violence like slapstick horror Peter Jackson, but no fun.

I hope this review does not pique your interest in seeing this film; unless you like that kind of stuff.

It will likely underwhelm horror fans due to bloated expectations, built up over its circuitous, two-year release, and will simply not be understood by critics who don't value exploitation cinema, but, despite the unstellar acting, annoying characters and predictable story arc, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the first true jungle cannibal film made in 30 years. The shock value doesn't come close to the Italian classics, but it still delivers more gore than you should ever expect to see at the strip mall theater down your street. And it has one thing those films never had: a sense of humor. Not recommended for movie critics, but a must-see for those who already know they must see it, and possibly interesting enough for the unsuspecting horror or adventure fan.

Brutal as fuck killer. He has an obsession with..ice! He invades this campground where these girls were hired to dance sing and strip. Well you know how it goes in a campground setting. The kills were bloody, brutal and I loved it! No CGI that I could see but in some scenes the beatings were a bit off screen but they redeemed themselves with a bloody aftermath..whew! I wanna see more of this brutal fuck! Moe!

I know what you mean. It was so fast paced, i only fast forwarded to the end after watching some 70% of it. But even fast paced regurgitated horror still gets boring -- to me anyway.

Personally, I always hated illogic in horror. I get bored with the same old rides, too. This was both.

The Green Inferno (2013)

A movie inspired by the ultra-violent 70's Italian cannibal movies seems perfect for a director like Eli Roth. If you're not a fan of his films already, this won't win you over, but if you his brutal, tongue-in-cheek horror, The Green Inferno is a perfectly serviceable gore-fest. The Green Inferno follows Justine, a freshman in college who joins a student activist group that plans to save the Amazon rain forest. But these guys aren't just all talk: they are going to go directly to a village in Peru to rescue it from impending bulldozers before the village is destroyed, and their mission is successful. They rejoice on the plane ride back home, but their celebration is short lived as the plane crashes somewhere in the vast sea of green. Soon enough, they are taken hostage by a cannibalistic tribe and must escape before they are turned into someone's next meal. Like Roth's previous films, The Green Inferno takes its time before unleashing hell on the victims. The crew doesn't actually encounter the cannibal tribe until about 45 minutes into the plot, so when the violence comes, it really packs a punch. You'll definitely want to finish your popcorn early. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't have much of a plot after the group gets captured, so a lot of it is focused on the gruesome death scenes. I have to give credit where it's due, though. There are some really hard to watch scenes in this, and that's exactly what this movie wants. However, what makes The Green Inferno not just your average torture porn flick is how stylish it is and some darkly funny writing. The humor does sometimes get a little unnecessary at times, but there are many times where I had a laugh with the movie. Mainstream audiences won't appreciate how it homages classic cannibal flicks, but Eli Roth fans should be satisfied with a suitably nasty descent into hell.

Everest (2015)

I might not have been ready for the kind of movie I just watched because this was a deeply emotional and visceral disaster film. I was expecting a little more of a mindless action thriller than the amount thematic depth that I actually got, and it was a very memorable and intense ride. Everest dramatizes the 1996 Everest disaster that lead to the deaths of eight people, and the movie involves two groups that get caught in a violent storm while climbing Mount Everest. It actually takes a while to get to the real meat of the story. Maybe 40 minutes pass before the storm is even referenced, but the movie gets so intense and emotional during the last half that it makes up for the slow pacing of the first half. Luckily, the slower first half allows us to get to know each character, their motives to climbing the mountain and each of their backstories. The second half is so much more effective because of this. One thing that bothered me about the film were these random lapses in time that were distracting at times. One moment it would maybe be 2:30 PM, and thirty seconds later, it'll be 5:00 PM. Some of the transitions just felt choppy, but it's not such a big deal that it takes away from the film. Everest is a movie that grabs you and takes your breath away for 2 hours, and it's one that you need to see in the theater.

Black Mass

I'm a fan of Johnny Depp and he sure as hell didn't disappoint . Good to see him getting away from the "quirky" characters he's been saddled with as of late and get a roll with a little meat. It doesn't hurt that I'm a fan of the " gangsta " movies and especially one that hits so close to home. I think it could have been tightened up a bit more for it did seem to drag a wee bit...but surely not enough to detract from the overall enjoyment of what could be an Oscar worthy role for the aforementioned Mr. Depp.

"The Visit" 8-9/10

In my book M. Night Shyamalamadingdong's best movie in 16 years.

Lots of genuinely creepy parts. And the twist at the end.... what a surprise!!

If it hadn't been for the cringeworthy rap songs and especially the hand-held cameras this horror flick would've been close to a 10/10 for me. And the lady playing grandma should be considered an Oscar nomination. She delivered all the requirements, emotions and nudity.

On a side note, this movie must have been a long, long time in the makings, coz I could swear Ferretchucker is only about 13 years old in it. ::big grin::

I know, its not a popular opinion. The film took too much time for anything interesting to happen. 30 minutes or so? The humor was sparse and did not appear until later. I didn't care about any of the characters and the acting wasn't very good. The first part of the first transformation was great from a gore perspective, but as far as I can tell it was thrown in there to do something different without an purpose. To shock, but not in an effective way. I ended up not finishing it because I did not care what happened.

I kinda liked this film. Chloë Grace Moret was excellent. Really liked her covered in blood but the prom scene is when it lost it for me. I liked the kills and such but the 'floating' off the stage was stupid and when she went into the street, that was terrible and then tact on a idiotic ending, that all equals a 5 rating.

Ah, and I'm guessing you didn't see it in the theatre? I'm only guessing that cause you said, "the kind of movie I just watched"; where the common vernacular for theatre viewers would be, "movie I just saw".

I haven't seen this, but I also think this is a big screen & theatre immersement type of film. One probably shouldn't be too cozy while viewing it.
-----------

I always thought it so odd for people to climb a notoriously dangerous mountain like Everest. It's so expensive, & you choose to risk taking yourself away from your family (death) -- even some climbers having young children. You risk your life like that to gain what if you make it? I'm probably being overly critical, but it seems somewhere between egregiously selfish, to subtlety suicidal.

A pretty decent & the most simplest psychological horror/thriller from Night Shyamalan so far, IMO. Liked it, didn't mind the "comedy" aspects but yeah, I also think it would be more enjoyable if Shyamalan avoided the POV/found footage/hand held camera approach.

Exists

Had high hopes but I wasn't all that captivated. It's definitely worth a watch for any Bigfoot fans and/or fans of Eduardo Sanchez, of which I am both, but Exists was just kind of alright. I did like the way they represented the 'squatch and the design was nice, but again, overall the film just lacked...oomph.

One other oddity. For the first time in my movie viewing life, the shaky cam kind of bothered me. It only happened in the daylight scenes shot n the woods, where the light shimmers and flashes, but it was making my eyes spin. Cant say that's ever happened before.

I did see it in the theater actually. In 3D IMAX too.

I don't think there's really much selfishness behind it. Some people have a passion for climbing, and they want to be as successful as possible with that hobby, so they climb Mt Everest if they think it's realistic.
