Revenge of the Pink Panther-

Meh. It was pretty fuuny, but definatly the low point of the franchise, IMO. There are a couple I havnt seen yet though, but thusfar Shot in the Dark is by far my favourite.

Saw-

I still like it. Acting isnt great, script is pretty bad in places, and there's a good share of plot holes...but for one reason or another, I enjoy it. I love how it ties up in the end, despite the really cheesy bit [You know which part]. One of the better mainstream horror flicks of the past few years, and I look forward to catching the sequel.

giallobelly 11-05-2005 08:59 PM

Saw was a piece of crap but I really enjoyed it.

I would go quite that far....Flawed? definatly. Poorly written/acted in some places? Sure. But piece of crap? Nah....but to each there own eh?

No, the low point was The Trail of the Pink Panther.

You ever want to talk about the 'Panther' series, PM me...I am such a huge fan. I assume you've got the boxset now? Great, great set.

Oh come on... Saw wasn't that good. I actually laughed out loud when the blonde dude was crying for his family while reaching for the phone. It's craptacular acting like that in big budget films that makes me feel like maybe I didn't do such a shitty job in The Cabin after all.

Misery

That sledgehammer scene still makes me cringe

The Ninth Gate, last night.

Ok, but more more of a mystery than a horror film.

Phantasm - 3/5
Inspired to watch this after having seen Coscarelli's Masters of Horror episode. Speaking of which, why haven't I heard much feedback on this? Head over to TV Show forums and give me a piece of your mind.

Argento's Door Into Darkness Episode 1 - 1/5
Argento's Door Into Darkness Episode 2 - 1.5/5
I cannot comprehend, for the life of me, why this series had to come into existence. Just plain ludicrous.

Along Came a Spider - 2/5
Morgan Freeman putting on the intellectual detective role once more. Sadly it isn't enough to carry the film to the level of Se7en. Not that it tries to, I hope.

Seven - 4/5
Still as brilliantly executed as ever. Can anybody tell me how the (longest) version opens up? It felt like watching it for the first time...disorienting because I don't remember the film opening with Morgan Freeman getting ready for work.

Alien 2003 Director's Cut - 4/5
It just amazes me how well this film holds up to the films of today and to repeated viewings. This has to be one of Scott's best films.

The Family Guy movie. Pretty funny, but I really think Family Guy works better in a half-hour format.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer 2

Well, this wasn't nearly as good as the first one for a fwe different reasons... 1) It just didn't have that same gritty, cutting edge feel to it. 2) It followed the same plot structure as part 1 (Making it pretty predictable) 3) It was a different actor playing Henry. All things considered, this wasn't a bad movie, it just didn't compare to the original by any stretch of the imagination. Unoriginal plot, less gore, worse acting and very annoying scene breaks that make it seem like a commercial cut. (Which is weird since I don't think this was made for tv because there's plenty of swearing in the film. *Shrug* )

I didn't have my hopes set real high to begin with so it didn't really disappoint, it just didn't pleasently surprise either... Fairly run of the mill sequel...

C+

oldie but a goodie

scouse mac 11-07-2005 05:09 AM

The Crazies is a quality film. Just think Outbreak but with nutters not ill people and without the hollywood shit. Romero does a good job (again!).

Shark Attack 3: Megalodon

What a piece of shit!

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Me and my kids loved this movie.
But if you're not in a silly mood or a die-hard HHG book fan-don't see it.

I've been looking for that one. :)

noctuary 11-07-2005 06:36 AM

House of Wax, the remake. Bland, ho-hum, nothing at all to do with the original. I knew when I first rented this that it was probably a waste of time, and I was right. 3/10

Despare 11-07-2005 08:01 AM

I saw Jarhead the other night, it was pretty good but not really what I was expecting. I'd have to say 6.5/10 because it really wasn't that memorable for me and really seemed to drag at times. I'd watch it again though.

I never read the book or anything, but I thought the movie was pretty good. The really depressed white robot guy was funny.

Despare 11-07-2005 08:47 AM

Marvin the Paranoid Andriod! I liked the new movie but I think the BBC film/mini-series was closer to the book. Good stuff.

slasherman 11-07-2005 10:55 AM

Saw 2...... I found it to be better than the original because of better plot, more gore and definitely better ending. Before that, I saw House of Wax which is pretty forgettable.

Wild Zero, I give it a C.
Decent movie, alright acting and writing, over-rated, poor cg... some fun.

The Quick and The Dead

I never realized Sam Raimi directed this one. I thought the direction was better than the typical western and it was kinda cool that the bodycount got so high, but I can't shake the feeling that this movie would have been a LOT better if Sharon Stone's part went to somebody else. Gene Hackman was great and so was Leonardo DiCaprio but like I said, it could have still been better.
