it's not like we're talking about some white-wash crowd pleaser like The Titanic.

American Beauty is a fine film .. but it didnt speak to me. I'm the guys age - but experiencing nothing like this guy is. I'm not saying it's less natural than The Fly, but somehow i was able to sympathize more with Seth Brundle than I was with Spaceys character.

and i guess thats the key to me liking one film more than another when forced to chose (between 2 competently made films) - can i identify with/ or at least dig the character.

i would pick The Fly.

10-5, The Fly beats out American Beauty.

American Beauty amazed, astounded and moved me. The Fly just annoyed the heck out of me. And I'm a Cronenberg fan.

May I be allowed m answer now?

different strokes, different triggers and all that ..

there's been a lot of times i've questioned the tastes of other folks .. but what are you gonna do - people like what they like - some films speak to people more loudly than others.

as long as they're not just liking something because they think they are supposed to .. it's pretty tough to be critical..

an ..

apocalypse now for me

Aww, I didn't mean it like THAT...I just thought maybe there was a chance that you might possibly like at least one remake, or think that it could be considered 'good'

As for taste...Most people hate the movies I like :D

Anyway...

MISERY...I dearly love it

alkytrio666 04-29-2008 10:06 AM

I hope you don't think I was attacking your taste, just wondered about The Thing and have a different opinion than yours. Your favorite movie could be House of the Dead and I wouldn't attack your personal decision. :)

neverending 04-29-2008 10:29 AM

No, no hard feelings toward anyone- variety is the spice of life. Everyone has different taste- I just like to occasionally zing people whose taste is inferior to mine.

:p

6-2, Apocalypse Now kicks Misery out.
