My God, that was awful.

Is that really how young people are these days? Are you like that?

Obviously I'm not the target generation for this utterly annoying waste of time.

lolz! Agree...::big grin::

The approach was interesting & challenging...to tell a story through live video chat & online texting format; appreciate that part. But other than that it falls pretty flat. Online abuse was the major component in this story & it could be an appealing thing for a film but I wasn't intended to see a girl got drunk & shits on her pants and that crap went viral!!...seriously??!! this all they could come up with when they were thinking about what to show as an online abuse?!? And therefore the background story for a bullied girl turned vengeful ghost gets completely & literary wasted. They either could make it sympathetic, mysterious or pure evil but here with all other characters you'd care less & & less as the film progress. And lastly for a horror film about a vengeful ghost stalking & killing its victims online, I was expecting some creepy & creative kills but hugely disappointed.

Ok what exactly would you count as online abuse?

Finally got around to watching What We Do in the Shadows

7/10

It was great and just decent. Great because i haven't laughed out loud at a movie in a very long time. Quite possibly not since some of the scenes in The 40 Year Old Virgin. So great because of the quality of the humor. It wasn't laugh after laugh though and towards the end it wasn't so great.

SPOILER:

The big party was a let down. Wasn't really that funny.

END SPOILER

I'd definitely recommend it.

Mr. Jones
(AKA: movie with awesome as FUCK scarecrows)
Not a bad flick. I actually enjoyed the ending. After the earthquake filming that is. That got quite annoying while you're trying to understand what the hell is going on. It did wrap up though and things made enough sense by the end that I'm not going to question anything. I would watch again, if anything to see those lovely works of art that "Mr. Jones" created.

I thought the scarecrow creations were wonderful, but the movie fell flat for me. I cant recall if it was the pace, theplot, or the onscreen talent..or what, but I remember feeling completely detached from the narrative,

Wyrmwood. Australian zombie flick. Pretty dynamical but sometimes overdone with comedy and parody.

I almost gave up watching it a few times towards the end. The repetitive camera angles and watching the male lead stumble around was just getting really fucking annoying.

Dark Places (2015)
Slow crime drama.
I watched this because I (thought) I read it was also horror. But it wasn't.
It was more like watching a made for tv Hallmark movie or something, but with a bigger budget and a good cast.

The Gunman (2015)
Meh...
Could've been a sweet action movie but there's too much drama for my taste.

I didn't mean that wasn't an online abuse, that was indeed an online abuse but they could show a better example of it, particularly regarding the event that lead to her 'online abuse' & the subsequent suicide incident.
When a horror story/film centers around a bullied/victimized character turned vengeful ghost/killer, I think at some point it'd better to provide a better background check/story about that character with better example of turn of events that leads to his/her online abuse...you can make it sympathetic or pure evil by dealing with or revealing his/her deepest secret or fear in a way (where at one point the other characters make fun of it, resulting the abuse) so that we can care or feel for that character. In Unfriended, based on very little info that they revealed, we found the character of Laura Barns was as 'shitty' as her so called friends who later die one by one and we didn't care for any of them actually. Now, this sort of shitty characters may be common for a slasher movie but sometimes at least we get lucky enough to see some gruesome/creative or creepy kills even in those average or below average slasher flicks; but here in Unfriended even the kills were uninteresting or at times stupid.

The Lazarus Effect 2015

A group of medical students discover a way to bring dead patients back to life.

Weak. Story drags on until towards the end and even then its disappointing. Some glaring holes, particularly obvious choices to make the film more 'tense' instead of staying with what would likely happen. Suspension of disbelief stops. The acting was meh, but the characters were also meh. Also needless relationship dynamics that were also overly typical. Effects were meh. The very end makes sense, but I felt like 'so what'?

Ha, just came here to write about the Lazarus Effect as well!
I agree with pretty much everything you've said about it.
I'd probably give it a 4.5 or 5/10 because I liked the start, thought it was going to be a promising movie, but by the end I was just thinking "finish already!"

horcrux2007 08-01-2015 10:33 AM

I gave that one a 3. It had some nice ideas at first, but it ended up as a stupid PG-13 slasher movie. I didn't even know that was possible.

Crazy Murder, 2014. 6/10

https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...32&oe=5659D0AA

Sick and gory this was. This mentally ill man just roams the streets murdering people and doing disgusting things. I liked it but being I was in hospital a few times, his moans of pain from an unsettled mind was awful to here. I used to here that at night and its painful...you can feel there tortured souls crying out...but anyway..I loved the scene when he meets the girl selling tickets, how he changed cause he was infatuated with her; of coarse the gore was fantastic.

Stung 2015

Basically a wasp infects a bee spawning killer wasps the size of a fist. They in turn make bigger killer wasps using people. A lawn party is the location.

Lance Henrikson is always great, in this meh. The entire thing was less than meh though. The boy wants the girl, she's just his friend, blah blah blah. The two main characters saving each other was the only lightly good thing about it. Not just the heroic guy. Basically its a film for lonely 15 year old straight boys. Which I was definitely one, but even then I doubt I'd enjoy this.

Right. I realize all sorts can like a film, but I believe the description is useful in describing movies designed for a specific audience. I've loved Golden Girls for a long time, but its not created with me as a viewer in mind. Hope you understand. :)

Lavalantula 2015

From the title and the knowledge that its a SyFy film I assume you're smart enough to know what kind of film it is. As well I assume you know what you can expect from its quality.

3.5/10 I did finish it though, but mostly due to me spending time with mom watching it.

Vacation (2015)

Out of all the reboots and remakes being made today, a reboot of the National Lampoon's Vacation series is one that I would never expect to need a reboot. I love the original Vacation series, even the ill-received Vegas Vacation, and even though I had low expectations for the newest installment in the series, I was looking forward to a new Vacation movie. Boy was this a letdown. This time around, Rusty decides that he is going to take his family to Walley World before it closes forever, and Rusty promises that this time "will be different" than the first time he went to Walley World. They set off in their bizarre European car to the amusement park, and the usual Griswold madness ensues. While there are a couple of laughs to be found on this trip to Walley World, the new Vacation is just a raunchier and much more mean-spirited version of the original film, making for a rather awkward and sometimes even unpleasant viewing. A lot of the humor in the first movie was dramatic rather than situational. The jokes would happen while the scene played normally, rather than having scenes that only existed for the punch-line. It more closely resembles Adam Sandler's fun yet disappointing Grown Ups than any of the first Vacation movies. Probably the worst thing about this movie was that, in the first movie, Clark made it seem like Walley World was the greatest place on Earth, so there was a sense of urgency on the trip there, and it made us feel some sympathy for the Griswold's whenever something bad happened to them on the way. In this movie, the destination is never made out to be some spectacular place, which really didn't make me feel like it was that big of a deal when the Griswolds found themselves in a pool of human waste or going white water rafting with a suicidal tour guide. The new Vacation is much more of a misfire than a disaster, since it is a fun movie at times, but you won't find much to like about this movie, even if you're a die-hard fan of the other Vacation films.

4/10

Is it just me or do many of the movies out right now really suck??!! After viewing several comments from the crew on here, I'm not seeing very many high marks. I hope they start making better/more entertaining movies very soon!!!!

I have seen quite a few trailers for upcoming movies and some of them look very promising, hopefully they don't let us down!!

Btw, sorry that I don't have much time to be on here much anymore but I still make an effort to touch basis once in awhile ::cool::

Citizen X 1995

Based on the true story of a Russian serial killer who, over many years, claimed over 50 victims, mostly under the age of 17. In what was then a Communist state, the police investigations were hampered by bureaucracy, incompetence and those in power. The story is told from the viewpoint of the detective in charge of the case.

Rewatch. Surprisingly good for a 'tv movie.' Not sure how accurate the movie is in regards to the history of the case or what the Soviet Union was like in the 80's to 1990. Decently acted. Not a lot of gore, but the bodies are decently done, again, for a tv movie. Not a lot of ''action.' The story is interesting enough to make the time go by without notice.

I think I liked it a little more than you did, Boss. Maybe I'd give it a 6.5? It's definitely not loaded with action but I loved the performances, especially from Steven Rea and Jeffrey DeMunn. As a period piece, and viewed as a drama/police procedural, I think it entertains.

It was nice to be reminded of this movie, man. Thanks, I'm probably going to toss it in the player this evening.

Hmm. I turned it off after 10-15 minutes.
The movie was barely started or the characters already made a couple of stupid decisions. After that I fast forwarded for about an hour and saw that it was too much drama for my taste.
