The Complete Sun Recordings, Vol. 1, by Jerry Lee Lewis. The Killer’s earliest recordings for the legendary Sun Records. Good stuff.

Steady Diet of Nothing, by Fugazi – Maybe my least favorite Fugazi album, but worth having to have all their records and be able to understand better the transition from the early punk recordings to the totally other, totally awesome band they became.

On Juhu Beach, an old Mountain Goats EP I’d never heard of but that just showed up on iTunes. It’s old, so it’s the lo-fi style, and not as refined as the later songs, but one or two of these 5 are pretty good.

Mayors of the Moon, by Jon Langford and the Sadies. Alt.country/rock for the Mekons/Waco Brothers’ Langford and backing band extraordinaire The Sadies. Haven’t listened too closely yet, but liking what I’ve heard so far.

Blame it on Gravity, by the Old 97s. Their new album. Not as great as their first few records, but better than the uneven last one. Good country rock with incisive lyrics. A fun album.

Brother Firetribe "Heart full of fire"
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p..._Full_Of_F.jpg Yes, the name and title sucks ass, but if you dig the band Journey, tjeck out Brother Firetribe. ;) |
Power Quest "Master of illusions"
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...Of20Illusi.jpg So far, the best power metal album of 2008. |
HUMUNGUS - I Hate Mother Fucking Cops + A Reason To Care
http://images.ciao.com/iit/images/pr...uct-859440.jpg Picked this up out of a cheap bin.... which is as killer as the CD. Good blast of 80s styled HC, two EPs on one disc kinda deal. Nicki Sicki used to be in Verbal Abuse and its got Cheetah Crome on gat duties for the first EP. |

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...8L._SS400_.jpg These are two bands that I get made fun of for liking by friends who used to know me when I used to only listen to punk music. I don't see these people like ever though, so I don't care. :) |
I've never heard Oingo Boingo before. I used to really like Lodger when I was into Bowie... Low is a really good album too. Scary Monsters is the only album of his I bother listening too these days.

buy "farewell" it's seriously amazing and the best live album I've ever heard. 2 disc and only like 12$ on amazon I think

Davis Bowie,stage(1978).
This is an interesting live album; At this Madison
Square Garden show from 1978 Bowie eschews almost all of his most popular songs; he gives a perfunctory and short nod to FAME and ZIGGY STARDUST. Otherwise , he delves much more into his more avant garde Brian Eno inspired material; it's a bit offputting, especially on a warm, sunny day when girls are wearing those form fitting shorts, to get into the cool ,weirdness but it really does add up in the end. The most interesting song on this set is BOWIE's cover of the ALABAMA SONG, a song usually associated with THE DOORS.When there is guitar , it's ADRIAN BELEW shredding in a non-cliche manner. BOWIE is an example of an artist who remains true to his art and continues to get richer doing just that. He has never been a cliche ,angst ridden starving artist |
i had a great live bowie album that i think was recorded in philly - it was an LP and i think its in my attic
