Pretty good.
First hour's a bit slow but the last half hour is worth it.

The Slaughterhouse Massacre

The movie starts in the early 90s with a horny couple deciding that a slaughterhouse is a GREAT place to get laid. They see where animals are killed and how they're killed to be made into dog food. After coming across a couple hanging animals ready to be cut up, the first thing the guy says is ''Eww gross, that's the last time I ever eat dog food.'' ...WHY WOULD YOU A FIRST TIME. No great loss to humanity when he gets a sickle in the back.

Present day and a couple of bland as shit characters decide to check the place out on the anniversary of the couple getting killed. The stupid teens are screaming at fucking nothing when they decide to go in. Literally there is NOTHING to be freaked out over yet, and they're just screaming.

Things aren't so bad when the killer finally shows up. He's smart mouthed white trash and quite entertaining. Wish he had more teens to kill. My question is; why when you make it OUT of the building harboring an undead murder, WOULD YOU GO BACK IN. Stupid fucking... And why did it take til morning to send a patrol car!

And what the hell is with the redundant techno music that sounds like it needs to be in a porno rather than here.

And you don't need to strip in order to escape a serial killer.

Stoners don't survive horror movies go back and try again.

The end credit music sounds like whale songs.

TLDR; lol no.
This movie was just awful.

HOUSE IV 1992

I watch them so you don't have to. Roger Cobb (from the original) is killed in a car accident after visiting the "House" with his wife and daughter. The wife decides to honour Cobb's attachment to the house and move in after his death. She starts to experience all manner of things supernatural and ridiculous.

Okay, first 10 minutes into this film I was why the fuck am I watching this?!? The high schoolers were like 30 years old looking.... lol but...it worked! This was fucking awesome! This was fun, the kills were cool and all practical.

Written and directed by Jason Figgis. I had corresponded with him many times when I first opened my forum. He gave me a screener through FB messages but alas I lost that account so I never watched this..until now on Amazon Prime.

Ireland. A virus of some sort attacks only the parents of children/teens and of course the world falls apart and the children have to make it on their own. The parents go mad and then their bodies break down and they die. They never infected the children, its not walkingdeadesque.

I really liked this and as it went on I grew quite fond of it. The dialog was fierce, back and fourth, back and fourth. That was interesting and of course the accents are amazing. There were some amazing scenes but it ran at a very slow pace but I welcomed that. : )

Great job Jason on this film, wonderfully done.

Danny Collins, 2015, 8/10.

Amazing , beautiful and Al Pacino is fantastic but isn't he always?!? ::love::

When the credits run at the end, if you choose to see this, keep watching to see the real Danny and the letter from the movie. Its a beautiful story, we can spend decades messing up or messing about our life and then we wake up and realize, this just got real!.....and the changes you make in your life can take you on a strange and beautiful journey.

Lennon's songs played throughout the movie, if life could be lived through a John Lennon song..... Peace. :)

I want to see all of these, are they only available on Amazon? I couldn't find them on YouTube without having to download them; I don't do downloads.

My weekend watches thus far:

Chappie

10/10

I loved this movie! It was great acting and I enjoyed the emotional storyline. If you liked District 9, you'll probably like this one.

Strange Blood

2/10

I ended up turning it off. It just felt like it was never going to go anywhere and it was rather dull acting imo.

Serena

8/10

I think that Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence did a great job. It felt like a darker atmosphere for both of them but the story keeps you interested.

Run All Night

10/10

Love, love, love Liam Neeson!! Kudos for another great movie!! The acting was amazing along with a lot of action and a great plot.

Take Shelter 2011

Curtis, a father and husband, is starting to experience bad dreams and hallucinations. Assuming mental illness, he seeks medical help and counseling. However, fearing the worst, he starts building an elaborate and expensive storm shelter in their backyard. This storm shelter threatens to tear apart his family, threatens his sanity and his standing in the community, but he builds it to save his family's life.

Its dull. Not much happens besides these visions/dreams that are not worth watching for. The acting is mediocre. Michael Shannon plays the same same exact character from Boardwalk Empire, minus the name and period attire. In this case he might be developing schizophrenia or predicting events. I couldn't stand to watch more than an hour. I just jumped to the end to find out what was going to happen. Pass on this.

Random on Shudder.TV. I got a two month trial of this Netflix type all horror films site. They have a streaming TV and they throw random films on. I did not know what I was watching until the end cause I didn't see the opening credits.

This was actually good, all about demons following him and the insanity he went through when he was the only one that could see them.. They were really cool looking when spotted.

This feature of the site will be awesome for me, sometimes I tend to look through movie after movie undecided. This makes up my mind, with no choice, I may find some gems.

This wasn't bad at all. If you don't go into this film as a remake, you should be fine or not. ; )

I liked the whole family and that's rare for me cause I do not really care for children in horror films unless they are murderous little bastards. I thought this was gonna be jump scare heaven but was not. It had nice FX and really started all the poltergeist shenanigans right away...cover that with the gorgeous and funny Sam and that equals an entertaining hour and a half. I'll check out a sequel if ones made, looks like this family will be fun to follow. 7/10.

Inside Out (2015)

After a slightly disappointing run for Pixar in the last few years with movies like Monsters University and Cars 2, the power house of animation gives us their most thematically complex film since Wall-E. In Inside Out , the life of an eleven-year old girl named Riley is shown to be controlled by five voices inside her head: Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Anger. They control her emotions and affect her memories, but Riley's life is thrown out of control when she moves to San Francisco. Her core memories, the most important ones, are thrown out of the control center as well as Joy and Sadness, so they have to journey back to put Riley's life back on track. The plot itself doesn't contain any big twists or even a villain. It's a seemingly simple tale with huge ambition. Showing what's going on in someone's head is a difficult feat, but Pixar achieves this in such a creative and original way. The ideas presented in Inside Out might fly over younger kids' heads, as there are some rather complex themes here: you can't be happy without experiencing sadness or anger or disgust or fear. They are natural parts of life. The film even deals with depression, identity, and self-worth. Inside Out is undeniably the most enjoyable, hilarious, and entertaining film that incorporates such heavy themes. It's certainly not a movie you will ever forget.

Balls Out aka Intramural (2014)
Average comedy about a group of misfits and college football.
I think it had a lot of potential but there was just something missing.

Wrong Turn (2003)
First time I saw this was around the time it was released.
I liked it a little more than my first viewing but it's still quite average.

Wrong Turn 2: Dead End (2007)
Better and more entertaining than the first one.
Plenty of blood and gore, some sweet kills, Henry Rollins going Rambo and little bit of humour and nudity.

Kingsman: The Secret Service
Colin Firth's performance as an action man is nothing short of a revelation. When the impeccably-suited Harry first meets Eggsy while the latter is a young boy, he gives him a medal bearing an engraved telephone number, for whenever Eggsy is in dire circumstances.

TheBossInTheWall 06-22-2015 05:54 PM

Poltergeist 2015

Weak. It is a remake. Its not its own entity. Too many things taken from the original. And what the original did well, this did not. Besides they very rad iconic line "They're heeeerrrrrrrreee." the original wasn't very cliche. The family reacted as a family would. The weariness was there. Things didn't happen too fast as it did in this remake. Plus this remake had points in it where somebody with major control said "ok we need a laugh...here." and "we need this line showing the parents' bond referenced here." etc. Lastly the original had this great sense of awe and wonder that this film completely lacked.
3/10.
A minor gripe...why use an awful cover of a song? Why not use the great original?

DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE 2003

This is the one starring John Hannah and it may have even been made for T.V. But either way, I certainly enjoyed it. Oddly enough you couldn't really distinguish between Jekyll and Hyde save for a huskier voice and black-ish pupils but it worked.

Jurassic World (2015)

Finally, we get a Jurassic Park sequel that isn't completely idiotic and mind-numbingly boring. Jurassic World ignores the events of The Lost World and Jurassic Part III and introduces a new theme park 22 years after the first park closed where dinosaurs roam free, although it's more similar to something similar to Disney World than the original park. In order to spike attendance again, the park has created a new, bigger and scarier hybrid dinosaur, the Idominus rex, but the big guy escapes his enclosure, and it becomes a hunt for the dino before it makes its way to the resort. Jurassic World does take its time until the action really begins. The first act is completely dedicated to showing the park in its normal operational design, and while it is slow, it does try to capture the sense of wonder that the original Jurassic Park had. The dinosaurs in Jurassic World do look fantastic. It's great to just be able to marvel at them for the first 30 minutes. But this is a Jurassic Park movie; we want to see some dinosaur action. Luckily, the movie knows that point when to crank up the action, and it's actually quite jarring. It goes zero to a hundred really quickly. One moment I was watching the dinosaurs, a bit bored by this point, and the next I'm bracing my seat because of the sheer intensity of the film. Jurassic World is a seriously violent and visceral film. It's probably one of the most violent PG-13 movies I've seen since The Dark Knight, but the violence is about on par with the other three films, so you should know what to expect. The slow opening act makes the rest of the movie extremely effective and thrilling, and while Jurassic World didn't have anything as terrifying as the kitchen scene in the original film, there are plenty of scenes that will melt your face off. If you have the chance, go see it in IMAX 3D. It's definitely a movie you need to be completely immersed in to get the full effect. If you're a fan of the original Jurassic Park or you like newer monster movies like Cloverfield and Godzilla, Jurassic World is the movie to see this summer.

Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead (2009)
Some fun kills but overal very average.
And they casted Tamer Hassan, an Enlgish actor of Turkish Cypriot descent,
for the role of a Latino American. He's a good actor but he was a terrible choice for the part.

You're Next (2011)
Meh... Just not my kind of movie.
One sweet kill though.
