I looooove Jacksonīs death-look-alike ghost killer. Very cool and original. And Michael J. Fox was a funny person to cast as the main character. He did an okay job, but Bruce Campbell would have been better.... Of course. LOL

Fargo

Good, better than expected, but not as good as it could have been. For me, excessive language is a complete trn off in movies. For the most part, it wasnt TOO bad, but in the last half or so, it got really out of hand. But it did have a good plot, and some decent acting.

7/10, minus 3 for pointless expeletives = 4/10

Great classic suspense thriller..I acctually read this book back in the day, and the movie really sticks close to the book...:D

"A bittersweet life" 8/10

Ordered this Korean action/suspence thriller after recommendation from Shanks.

Thanks man.;)

To those who were into "Oldboy", this would probably be something for you.

Angra 09-11-2005 06:02 AM

"Antarctic journal" 6-7/10

Korean horror movie. Also a Shanks recommendation.

I didnīt get it.

Reminded me of "session 9" somehow.

Sin City
Waited a LONG time to see this.
Wasn't disappointed

noctuary 09-11-2005 07:45 AM

Finally saw Red Eye last night. Not too bad, but not too great either. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, but I wasn't pissed off after seeing it. Not a total loss.

The Village...My only complaint is tht I found it rather boring, knowing the ending before seeing it (as pretty much everyone did), wasn;t the dissapointment, the movie was.
Definately not MNS's best (unbreakable gets my vote there)...
It's unfortunate. If the guy actually tried to make a horror film, elements of this one indicate that he could do it rather well.
His mindfuck game is just getting old.

My Best Fiend. Absolutely brilliant. If you have any interest whatsoever in Klaus Kinski or Werner Herzog's films, I would highly recommend seeing this.

Ginger Snaps.
I must be missing the great appeal with this movie.
I think I saw this movie before, but with my lousy memory,I'm not sure.

ChEEbA 09-12-2005 06:45 AM

I thought ginger snaps was a shitty, BORING movie for the better part, and didn't manage to et ANY scares, or even jumps goin' on.
I understand why fns of the werewolf genre are allways raving about this film though, and (IMO) the similarly overated "dog soldiers", it's because the werewolf genre is largely dead...and the fans cling to what they can, which isn't much.
If anyone can tell me HONESTLY that they think the two abovementioned films are a scratch on the oldskool werewolf flicks of the pre mid-90's down trough the 70's, well...I guess I'd tell them...I dunno what Id tell them, but suffice it to say, a whole lotta  would be involved.

I've continued to watch series 1 of Alias, and have reached the two part episode "the box", guest starring Quentin Tarrantino as a former SD6 agent left for dead, out to rib, and exact revenge on the agency. VERY good episode, rates as one of my favourites.
If anybody hasn't yet seen Alias, I'd definetely reccomend checking it out on dvd. If you're a fan of "LOST", you WILL like this...totally different kind of show, but you can still see lot of JJ Abrams style goin' on.
Again, a kickass soundtrack, solid acting all round...and some VERY cool storyline twists. If you haven't seen it, go buy/hire a dvd box-set.

Just watched/listened to The Wolf Man [1941] with the commentary from the Legacy collection. Very interesting commentary, although it does make Chaney Jr. and Val Lewton out as unlikeable, stuck up morons.

havent seen it myself...but to me it looks like another "May".....(no big "May" fan)

"Sleepaway Camp"...again..a little overrated slasher......much offscreen killing, bad acting....but a shocking ending...
