...Not to take this off your topic but..I've been asked to write a review for a Swedish/American underground horror magazine..

I'm scared. I dunno how to write. I talk about films like you and I are sitting in a living room just....talking.

Lol... I've outgrown any interest in that activity.

You'll do a great job!

First thing is to read the last 4-5 reviews that have already been published in their magazine. You'll get an idea of what they like in their zine (such as hyping the film, insider winks or something more critical, fanbased casual reviews or something more formal). And you take note of the format: if & where you list the production co, director, actors, etc.

Of course they'll tell you what they want: which film, how many words, what digital format to submit (.pdf, .txt). They may even want you to talk about specific things.

Start early, use a word processor (MS Word), spell check, thesaurus, have a few people proof read it, be ready to rewrite a few times.

If you want to bounce some ideas off me, and/or proof read it, I'll be happy to help.

It might help to record yourself speaking. If I am trying to write a review or a script or anything like that, I begin by recording myself saying what I want to write as if I am reading it out or announcing it (or just saying it to somone sat in the living room ::smile::) because I find it much easier to say it than to write it.

I know what you mean about their art, but artists need feedback. We/they already know there will be some enjoyment, praise, analyses, constructive criticism and dead rejection. With your vast film viewing experience you can give plenty of the first four.

I do some quarterly proof reading at work. Don't hesitate to ask. I think it's interesting. I'll watch my PMs.

It's not difficult to come up with a better concept than slasher movie on computers.

Photographic proof of ghosts

Quote:

STANTON, Ky. - A chilling photo taken at the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident has many on social media wondering if they’re seeing a ghost.

Saul Vazquez claims to have taken the photo, while wading through heavy traffic caused by the crash outside of Stanton, Kentucky.

“I took this picture just few minutes ago from the cab of my truck,” wrote Vazquez in a Facebook post. “Zoom in and pay attention to the shadow just off the top of the state trooper hat.”

While Vazquez has not yet given 12 News a statement, he did tell our affiliate that the photo was not altered.

The motorcycle driver was the only person involved in the crash, and was taken to an area hospital where he later died, reports LEX 18.
