I love Mallrats! My favorite line in that movie is in the beginning.

"One time my cousin Walter got this cat stuck in his ass. True story. He bought it at the local mall, so the whole fiasco wound up on the news. It was embarrassing for my relatives and all. But the next week, he did it again. Different cat, same results, complete with a trip to the emergency room. Then, last week, I saw him in the pet store. He was buying another cat. I said, "Walt, what the hell are you doing, you know you're just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too, why don't you knock it off?" And he says to me, "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy."

Love that line!

Anyway, I'm watching Tremors right now. It's not that bad. I'm enjoying myself.

noctuary 08-29-2005 12:18 PM

I watched the Toolbox Murders and Evil Remains last night. Toolbox Murders was quite good, seemed to be a return to form for Hooper. Evil Remains was better than expected, even if the twist ending leaves something to be desired. All in all, not a bad trip to the video store.

Yellow Jacket 08-29-2005 12:23 PM

Just got finished watching Tremors. I really liked it. Definitly gonna buy it someday soon (after I buy my "Sin City" poster with Jessica Alba on it *drools*.)

I give Tremors a 4 out of 5.

THEY DON'T?!!! Then fuck 'em! I'm not watching! (I'll end up watching them anyway, but I'm still pissed that Bacon's not in it.)

I just started watching They. Have no opinion so far since it just began. Better not suck like I heard it did!

RoLLiNLiGhTs 08-29-2005 08:48 PM

...The City of the Living Dead...

Very cool movie, as always...

Yellow Jacket 08-29-2005 09:17 PM

Just finished watching They. It was what people were saying, BAD! It wasn't as bad as I thought, but that's not saying much.

I give it 1 and a half out of 5

The Believers -- it's exciting to have memories rushing back of seeing a movie after so many years.

On that note, I have a question...

How do you remember movies best?
- by title?
- by actor?
- by story?
- other...?

Often for me, it's a particular scene. In this case, spiders bursting out of a woman's cheek.

newb 08-30-2005 07:56 AM

Sahara....mindless action fun

The Exorcist [ the version you've never seen ].....Still has an impact...love the spider walk.:D

RavageRitual 08-30-2005 07:29 PM

The Frighteners 5/10, An ok movie, but i was expecting it to be more horror.

Yellow Jacket 08-30-2005 08:57 PM

Just finished watching Monster-In-Law. Man, what a shitty movie that was! Almost everything about this movie sucked!
First off, they used recycled jokes from other comedies and shoved them into one 100 minute movie.
Second, both Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda have lost my respect. Third, they ripped on a Nightmare on Elm Street. I know what you're thinking. WTF?! Here, I'll explain. J'lo's character Charlie (wtf?) is flipping through the channels in one scene and stops when she sees that NOES is on (the scene is where Tina is having her nightmare and discovers Freddy for the second time.) Anyway, Fonda's character Viola (wtf?) walks in with sharp knives on her nails or something (guess she was getting her nails done) and starts ripping on NOES badly. She says crap like everybody in the movie are nobodies, that it's unrealistic (which is true, but this a horror movie! It's not going to be realistic.) and goes on and on. It was insulting. Fourth, Michael Vartin is a horrible actor and shouldn't show his face again IMO and his character Kevin (finally, a real name/one that fits the gender) is horrible also. Nobody is that perfect!
And the list goes on and on. The only thing I liked about this movie was Wanda Sykes. Thank god she was in this movie (though I feel sad for her that her acting ability and sense of humor had to be wasted to such a horrid script.)

I give Monster-In-Law half a star out of 5.

noctuary 08-30-2005 09:47 PM

Watched Violent Cop late last night. After seeing it, I now realize why Kitano's nickname is "Beat" Takeshi. He beats up pretty much everyone he meets throughout the film, including a young boy (in the opening scene!) At one point, he slaps a drug dealer across the face for about five minutes. There was some sort of revenge plot going on, but this movie was really all about the beatdowns.

Just put The Nightmare Before Christmas in. All this hype about the Corpse's Bride got me in the mood. This should hold me over until Bride comes out in theaters.

Watched "Audition" earlier tonight, wasn't that great of a film, especially for a Miike film....I expected much more......

Yellow Jacket 08-31-2005 09:51 PM

I watched Sahara a couple of hours ago. A great action flick. Blended both Bond and Jones together very well and stayed original (though it was an adaptation of the book of the same name, so it's not totally original.)

I give it 4/5
