Awful. James Duvall is in it for about 3 minutes. Bad acting, bad dialogue. Half the film is back story on uninteresting characters. I watched about half of the film. I did not see the monster once. I tried skimming the rest for the monster, could not find it. Most likely its on screen for a very short time. The only good part of the film was the camera shooting and location choices.

Yeah. I knew we'd sent you on a fool's errand once GoW reported back. The cover art looked cool...

Bart the Bear II plays the titular character as he goes on a vicious rampage & kills everything he confronts in the Alaskan wild, while Cyclops & Punisher appears in this film as two estranged brothers who reunites after several years but gets stalked by this unrelenting creature.

Not bad, the cast was good but sometimes it was like watching a Syfy channel movie.

"Judas Ghost" 7/10

A ghost flick cleverly made on a limited budget. The entire movie takes place in just 1 room, but the room keeps changing and stuff keeps happening which kept me entertained from start to finish.

"It Follows" 8/10

A really good horror movie indeed.

3 issues tho.

1. There's an awful lot of time spend on our young people walking or driving around. I would much rather have prefered them being followed the entire time. Without a car. And I must say the speed of this walking "ghost" varies a LOT. Obviously a very fast swimmer. ::roll eyes::

2. The odd actions of these people, especially the lead character, was driving me nuts.

3. The ending was lacking climax and... well, an end!!

But other than that a throughout solid accomplishemnt by the young director and crew. I'll certainly keep an eye on this guy in the future.

Trouble in Mind 1985

I was watching this film and I'm thinking, oh god this is going to be horrible. What the hell is going on? And I keep watching and I'm sucked into the film, but not at the same time. The back drop of the story is unexplained. The acting is perfect for the film. When it could be campy/funny, it is, but I didn't laugh because I felt something there. And some of the lines are fantastic like "People say they care about other people. I prefer a priest, at least they're real hypocrites." And guess who delivers that line? Divine in a suit and tie, no make up, no hair, as a mob boss. You have to see this film. Stick with it in the beginning. Its all those different motifs that are put together just right.

edit:argh, wrong thread to post this in. Any mods still watching can put it in the right spot?

Pretty good film for modern horror. I really liked the opening and the first half of this movie. It was timeless, it could be taking place now, 10 years ago, the 80's, I felt it. It gave me odd feelings that I liked. : ) Then I got a bit bored with it. It is really worth a watch though.

It's easily a 10 for me. I mostly loved the weirdness, atmosphere, and suspense of the movie. It felt like I was in another world. For some reason I liked watching them drive around and stuff. As for the characters' lack of common sense, the director said they were supposed to be like the kids from Scooby-Doo, do their plans were gonna be stupid. The ending didn't sit well with be at first either, but now I think it ended perfectly because we never know if the person following them is a normal person or a follower. It's definitely a divisive film, but I loved it!

IT FOLLOWS (2014)

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...psbjawyury.jpg

This is one of those rare horror masterpieces that you'll love more as soon as you finished the movie & start thinking about it! Through his first venture into the horror, writer-director David Robert Mitchell created something seemingly so simple but absolutely extraordinary here that I think even horror masters like David Cronenberg or Roman Polanski would have love to play with IT in their glory days of Horror.
STD, insecure & guilt ridden adolescent, confronting our evil within & its manifestation...we can go on & on but metaphorically the theme of IT FOLLOWS has so many levels that you'll just keep discovering them as every time you are going to see it or discuss about it with others. From start to finish this film demands your full attention & you'll have no problem to give that as how skillfully every shots been taken here with superbly eerie scores on the background. I'd also like to give another big thumbs up to the director as how beautifully he kept the film with almost zero or very minimal nudity & eroticism while the plot is so sexual in nature. The studio is already planing for a sequel focusing the origin of IT (souce: wikipedia)...which is a terrible idea, IMO. Cause this amazing, strange horror film doesn't need any sequel or prequel to tell anything more...it's one of those gems whose strengths lies on its mystery & wonder. Anyway, one thing is for sure IT FOLLOWS will follow & secure its deserving place in the heart of many mature & ardent horror movie fans for a long time. See it asap if you still haven't or it'll follow you slowly wherever you go ::wink::

Totally agree. Considering their age group & the hell they are dealing with by themselves, their odd or stupid decisions didn't surprise me much. I loved that ambiguous nature of the ending too.

Man, you guys are making me want to see it again. Great insights roshiq, crux, Angra... Thanks!

Another thing the director said that I thought was interesting was that the "rules" are communicated by a character in the movie, who himself had to figure them out on his own, so he might not fully understand them himself. It's the old unreliable narrator thing.

Spy (2015)

It's a good sign when a comedy has you laughing so hard you're crying within the first 5 minutes. There hasn't been a comedy this good and this consistently funny since maybe The Lego Movie, but I would argue that Spy is even better than that. Spy is about a CIA analyst, played by Melissa McCarthy, who has to go undercover after her partner falls off the grid to prevent a global disaster. I love Melissa McCarthy, but this is by far her best role I've seen her in. She's an extremely versatile actress, who can make pretty much every type of joke a hit. They're all perfectly timed and delivered so that, even if the jokes themselves aren't all that funny, the timing and delivery made them so much better than they should have been. The plot itself is a little thin, but there are some good twists towards the end. It almost doesn't matter because of how much you'll be laughing throughout the movie. You definitely won't want to pass this up when it gets into theaters in June. It'll be one of the best times you've had at a theater in a while.

Backmask aka Exeter aka The Asylum (2015)

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...psnnftubzc.jpg

Made by Marcus Nispel, the director of Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) & Friday the 13th (2009). This is his first original work and I think he should stick with remake & adaptations! F13 remake was unnecessary but okay and I love his TCM remake but man...this is just absolute garbage! After it starts at one point I was thinking may be it's a satire kind of film for the sub-genre of exorcism flicks but I was damn wrong & it eventually turned out unbelievably lame & full of cliches with plain bad story, script & characters.

Headless (2015)

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...psnrv3c1c9.jpg

I liked FOUND (2012) but as a spin-off from that great indie, initially I wasn't much interested to see a full adaption of that fake movie 'Headless'. Surprisingly it turned out a lot better than my expectation. It is what it intends to be & convincingly achieves it...a grotesque showcase of violence, gore & sadism & a good tribute to 70s over the top Splatter flicks. But within all, it also delivers a sad & tormented back story of the killer; found that keeping himself most of the time inside a cage interesting. Also his alter ego as a skull masked little kid was freaking cute...loved that sound that kid sometimes make through the mask-teeth.

"Demonic" 6-7/10

Notice something on that cover?

Judging by the cover you'd think James Wan was somehow involved with this flick. Heck, his name even takes up a third of the screen in th beginning credits. But you know what they say, don't judge a movie by its cover.

Except for a few of his jump scare trademark you wouldn't have guessed James Wan had anything to do with Demonic if you hadn't got his name thrown in your face. The story is just way too cliche and the characters dull as a grey wall.

What we have is a mediocre haunted house movie.

And one thing.

Definitely the worst in the series.
Part 3 ain't great but on its own it ain't that bad.
Part 4 is just a typical horror-action flick and is missing everything that makes REC interesting.

Oldboy (2003)

All I can say is wow. If you like revenge movies, Oldboy is one of the most complex and visceral ones I've ever seen. Not complex in that it's hard to follow; it's very dense and has a lot of layers to the story. It's on Netflix if you're interested.

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps441llima.jpg

Though I haven't seen TAKEN 3 & NON-STOP yet, but I think this is Liam Neeson's best action flick so far, IMO. The story was really good, beautifully portrayed that emotional turmoil going on between the characters and actually most of the major actors perfectly fits in their respective roles. Recommended.

Taken 3 was pretty shithouse if you ask me...even the second one wasn't that great, they should have left it alone.
Non-Stop, was not bad for what it was.
I look forward to run all night though.

I saw Avengers - Age of Ultron.
Nice effects, dialogue wasn't bad...but something just didn't have me engaging with this movie at all. I'd give it about a 6/10, and I was looking forward to it quite a bit.
