Spring (2014)

A beautiful Lovecraftian Love story! Script, direction, acting...all were great. Highly recommended.

Backcountry (2014)

The premise was somewhat similar but this is what Willow Creek was supposed to be! and overall it's lot better film than WC, IMO.

Taken 3 (2014)
It was ok. Not great but not as bad as the second one.

Take Shelter (2011)
Drama starring Michael Shannon. Not bad but I expected something different.

Taken Shelter (2015)

Liam Neeson has to save his daughter, not only from a gang of Turkish Human Traffikers but from a certain cataclysmic event. Will his A Very Particular Set of Skills be enough to save them?

Yeah, the guy was super annoying, especially at the beginning. But it turned out to be really suspenseful. I'll be remembering the bear attack scene next time I'm camping. I gave it a borderline 8/10.

The Houses October Built (2014)

This is a really strange film for me because I don't know if I actually liked this movie or not. The Houses October Built is a found footage film about a group of friends who journey around the country to find the most extreme haunt in America, and when they think they've found the most extreme, it seems like the haunt has found them... I guess? I'm still confused if this movie is supposed to be supernatural or just about a bunch of crazy rednecks, but it was rather difficult to follow this movie. The pacing was horrible, and there were a lot of scenes that seemed creepy but never really contribute to the story as a whole. The first half of the film is reasonably atmospheric and unsettling until the gags wear off and become nonsensical and irrelevant. The final ten minutes in particular are just basically seeing the characters running through the haunt, and the ending was very disappointing. The movie built it up to be something much darker and crueler than it actually was. The cast worked very well together, and it did pique my interest in extreme haunts. Other than the atmosphere and characters, The Houses October Built was sort of a let down

5/10

Recently saw this one, too. Definitely looking forward to more horror entries from this duo.

It Follows (2014)

Finally got around to seeing this one at the cinema, and I'm so glad I did. Definitely reminds one of the joys of seeing good horror in the theater. Super engaging, and it's nice to see an 80s throwback without the camp. Definitely recommended.

Eagerly waiting to see this one...damn! Few days back I've read somewhere that they postponed the VOD release last week as it's getting lots of positive responses from the fans & the critiques & they're now more interested to continue its theatrical run as well as expand its theatrical release all over USA.

Written and directed by... yes... Ryan Gosling!

Why do I have a feeling this could turn out like nicolas winding refn's "Only God Forgives"? ::sad:: All fingers crossed that it won't, coz the story sounds sweeeet.

Have you seen Fresh Meat btw? Fun flick with Maori elements.

Gears-of-Warren 04-07-2015 09:30 PM

Today i watched amovie about scream queens.

horcrux2007 04-07-2015 09:42 PM

Dark Skies (2013)

It's close to midnight, so I'm gonna keep this short. Dark Skies was an extremely surprising and very scary movie. It's like a haunted house movie turned upside-down. It has a couple of jump scares, a good amount of suspense, and a heavy atmosphere that all come together to create a memorable and terrifying film. Even if the pacing is a little off, Dark Skies is going to scare you. It's best not to know anything about this movie before you head in, and definitely watch it in the dark.

Gears-of-Warren 04-07-2015 11:14 PM

Today I watched the nu one about the things in the cave that come out at night and feed on farmers who aren't expecting and then sometimes each other. They look disgusting when they do that.

There's a thing movies have. It's usually related to the story or a character.
I think it's called a title or something.

Gears-of-Warren 04-08-2015 01:26 AM

1 was stinky (1 w most female char.) and 1 was too bloody violent for ave. fan, so i must quote the one and only : "This is not for you guy"

"A dysfunctional gang of criminals takes a middle class Maori family hostage and discovers too late that they are cannibals."

Today I watched 1 about things wriggling under skin. So nasty but i like it anyway esp when they have to be removed. Made me cringe, cover bare arms. Eek!!!
